  1. Indeed, which was why I suggested it. May I suggest trying to upgrade to the Beta client if the issue persists?
  2. Hello! Have you tried completely restarting the client?
  3. Nope, no update. I keep thinking about how to do it however.
  4. Hello! You could check out some of the links near the bottom of this thread, regarding speed.
  5. I can access both amazon.com and goodreads.com. Did you try different servers? Have you tried the routes tool?
  6. It's usually temporary and just requires some patience. I have a feeling Staff may have been swamped lately. . I'm sure they'll get back to you.
  7. Hello! It's possible Staff have been busy given it's December/January, but I don't know. We certainly can't answer this here. There is a blocked sites forum. In addition, if you use the routes feature in the Eddie client, certain sites can be made to go outside the VPN tunnel, so that you don't need to turn off the VPN entirely. It's difficult to say much more, including about the refund. Staff might answer soon though.
  8. Hello! As have many people, for many other desired locations. Some of which, such as Japan, have been added since then and/or had their server number bolstered. Quite simply, this has been answered in the FAQ. TL;DR: AirVPN doesn't just add servers whenever, but only when it makes sense. This is actually one of the reasons people trust AirVPN, as they know it's not just based on adding as many servers as possible. So the "answer" is probably that Ireland isn't feasible somehow; whether in terms of cost, quality datacenters/connections or any local legislation that acts as a barrier. We also haven't had French and Italian servers for a long time and good too, because it shows Air takes its server placements seriously, according to a country by country evaluation. Staff has something to say about that. Most notably, that a lot of it falls outside of AirVPNs realm of responsibility. Of course everyone thinks it's frustrating to be blocked. That's not true whatsoever, since AirVPN is not basing its existence on those things. As Staff duly writes in the second link: Ultimately, this has been talked about a huge number of times already, including by Staff. The situation regarding server placement and geo-blocks hasn't changed much AFAIK; although I hear Netflix is at least now accessible. As you may know, Staff doesn't telegraph their additions in advance. Hence for example the surprise at Japan being added suddenly. So perhaps 2019 will be it, for Irish servers. Time will tell . I'm not sure why this was posted in the reviews section when there's no review. As we're also beating a dead horse, I think it's doubly fair to lock this. If you've got any questions or concerns, you're of course welcome to PM me.
  9. Hello! It seems you're not alone. You could try asking at TechNet. Maybe run a VM? This is probably a little extreme. But at least you could let your main OS not use any VPN and your apps would thus work. While you'd then use the VPN from inside the VM, for privacy and whatnot. Don't use a restrictive OS like Windows? Maybe I'm old-school, but local apps shouldn't require a login.
  10. Yes that's the current experimental . If you used Network Lock then the firewall rules will have changed. But you should still be able to reset them in Windows. We can agree on Windows, haha.
  11. Hello! Which version of Eddie was it that stopped working and have you tried the experimental client? You could also try resetting Windows Firewall to its default state.
  12. Hello! I thought it was time to try and collect some of the wisdom floating around and see if we can't create a single thread for solving some of the most common and annoying repeat-issues. So how about it ! I define "common problems" as: if I'm getting a deja-vu every third time I post . Staff will have broken the Matrix by this point. Each problem will have its own headline and then with any number of solution-oriented links appended underneath. For this reason, this grand list isn't final and is meant to be updated continually. Naturally, the higher the link number for a solution, the more obscure the solutions are probably getting. Warning: solutions aren't guaranteed. Feel free to contribute with your own helpful links. The more feedback this thread gets, the quicker it can be improved and hopefully made useful.
  13. It's that time of year again guys and gals Added guidance on how to use Amazon Fire Stick with AirVPN, to the guides section. An update from Staff on this, that it can be used with Android Eddie! Added a mini-guide by Staff on how to test for traffic shaping being carried out on your connection, to the guides section. Added a notice about the availability of Eddie for Android, to the getting started section. Along with why it sadly won't be coming to iOS until Apple changes its policies. Added clarification to the getting started with AirVPN section, that a valid e-mail address is NOT required. Added clarification to the same section as above, that the login name is what's used for Eddie and not the forum display name. Thanks giganerd and co. Added Staffs recommendation for potentially making online gaming through AirVPN more responsive, by changing buffer sizes, to the after downloading Eddie section. Added notice to Other Noteworthy Resources section, that AirVPN does not make use of paid-for reviews. Unlike so many other VPNs. Added AirVPNs expansion on the debate surrounding transparency and security through obscurity. Added to the security question in First Questions section, point 10. Added corrado's alternative VPN client for Linux users, to the Other Noteworthy Resources section. It's very impressive work. Thank you for your contribution. Changed (the 1 instance) use of hooktube links to regular youtube links, in the Other Noteworthy Resources section. It was meant to be more private this way, but hooktube has since then been kneecapped. Removed links to BestVPN in the Other Noteworthy Resources section. Air was #1 for Encryption, Tor-use & loglessness while Douglas Crawford was writing and still is, following any honest review. Now it's solely paid-for reviews and since Air doesn't pay for any reviews, competitors get put on a highly dubious pedestal. Besides the very flaky review criteria; how can a Pros and Cons list contain "Pros" of a temporary type such as "XYZ has a Christmas sale of 75% OFF!" ? Thus not worth any consideration. @salacronix I'm sorry, I don't know. But feel free to create your own thread regardless . @ironmikezero Thank you, that's excellent to hear! @JimTheOwl That sort of thing is usually in the Guides/How-To section of my guide. There's a discussion about it for MacOS here. A how-to for GNU/Linux here. Regardless of OS, it is NOT recommended. If you only hibernate your PC instead of shutting it down completely and Eddie stays on, then at least on Linux and Windows, you won't need to re-enter a password. Besides all that, I thought it could be fun to summarise some of the biggest things which happened with AirVPN in 2018. There's no newsletter that I know of and since I basically live on the forums anyway, then why not help everyone else keep track of the biggest changes, since they're so easy to lose sight of . I might do it again next year if it's worth it. AirVPN in the year 2018 AirVPN started out 2018 by adding the ability for users to manage their keys for all their devices. A very welcome feature, for many users. Do remember to re-login your client after changing keys . After starting out with only a few experimental servers, AirVPN successfully managed to upgrade all AirVPN servers to what is now called "Gen2" servers. These support the IPv6 protocol and other additions, such as "tls-crypt". Tls-crypt makes it much harder for outsiders to block or throttle a VPN connection. Here's an excellent explanation by Staff. Finally Eddie comes to Android! This has been asked for by so many people and it's great to no longer have to rely exclusively on third party apps. Although iOS users will remain in a pinch here. A new country was added: JAPAN. Obviously quite a popular request, now seen through. It's a little unclear if Austria was added this year or not, woops. 2018 was also the year where Air underscored its commitment to cryptocurrencies, by removing the middlemen in Bitcoin transactions and accepting it directly! AirVPN was also found rebutting a famous article online about how VPNs are meant to be untrustworthy. AFAIK this is the first time Staff answer directly to a non-forum party. This year it was Airs 8th birthday. In that time, the amount of Bandwidth and Online Sessions only seem to increase. Lastly, as can be expected, AirVPN clarified some points in its Privacy Notice, now that the EU GDPR is in effect. Server additions to individual countries: many, I think. Further, I believe there was a stealthy updating of IPB. Happy New Year to everyone
  14. Can we expect a change to this in the future? Hello! It would probably be prudent not to hold your breath, since it's largely outside of AirVPNs control. But as others show, there are successes here and there.
  15. For reference, in case anyone wondered.
  16. Hello! As with the others, it would be great if you posted in its own thread too.
  17. Hello! I would encourage you to post in its thread .
  18. Hello! I must admit I haven't gotten around to trying the mobile version. But if it's like the desktop one, you should be able to change the protocol to TCP and IP 3. Doing so, may enable you to circumvent any throttling . Though I acknowledge your other thread where you list apparent problems with changing protocols. I'd encourage you to post here too.
  19. Hello! Please go here and submit a support ticket. You won't need an email address in order to communicate with support Staff and find an appropriate solution. The public forums can't help you beyond this .
  20. Hello! You can go to Eddie>Preferences>Connect at startup. As for removing the password prompt - which isn't recommended at all - there's a link in the guides section in my signature. Also, if you only hibernate your PC instead of turning it off completely, then Eddie will simply be able to resume operation in most cases. With no further password prompting . You've been around a while. So do remember to update your client as well, for any bugfixes. You can even add Eddie to Mints regular system update procedure using the PPAs.
  21. Hello! Did you try using the Eddie>Preferences> Routes option? Then you can make certain things go outside the VPN tunnel, such as if you input a website address. It's a bit unclear what you want.
  22. Hello! It's not necessary for you to engage with your router at all for this. You can also use the TCP test by the way. Remember to download the testtorrent from ipleak.net to see if you're leaking.
  23. I haven't used it in Windows in a long time. But you're unto the right thing: Ethernet 2 and the optional bind should be fine. Assuming you did the remote port-forwarding on this site, you need to set the port in the client as well. The same thing you presumably did in uTorrent.
  24. If I can allow for some cheekyness, the best way would be to switch to a decent torrent client that allows for the option out of the box, instead of the apparently more difficult way that uTorrent allows for . As I don't use that client, I can't help you. So someone else will have to. It shouldn't be necessary with any IP-anything for the bind to work. The biggest hurdle should only be what each individual client happens to call the VPN tunnel . And yes it stays the same. I already answered you regarding your last question: ipleak.net is a way to check. Download the test torrent, then wait for the website to display the IP. If it's an Air IP, you're fine.
  25. Hello! Logs are usually always help. From top to bottom, in spoilers. Are you torrenting? If so, remember to port-forward. It depends what scenario you're looking at speed in .
