  1. Hello, I have been referred by a friend who recommended this service, and I have some doubts. Does AirVPN store the IP address of the person connecting to the server ?, if so ... for how long? Do you have access to identifiable user data such as IP address? Do the servers used by AirVPN only work in RAM? At the request of a government / police force / intelligence agency will you release my IP address or any other information that can identify me? Thank you very much for your kindness. I send you a big hug.
  2. First of all, I would like to declare that I read and implemented this post: https://airvpn.org/topic/11476-using-airvpn-with-openvpn-for-android/ On OpenVPN, I imported the config file that I generated through AirVPN, and when it comes to activating that config file, I just cannot confirm the dialogue box showing up. It is displaying that there is a connection request and OpenVPN for android wants to set up a VPN connection that allows it to monitor network traffic. I just cannot click OK when this dialogue box pops up... I tried all kinds of things that I thought would affect the result without any success such as giving storage permission to OpenVPN, generating the config file as both UDP and TCP, selecting platform as both Android and Linux, as well as selecting various servers. Don't know what else I can do. I even tried to directly connect to VPN without OpenVPN through Android VPN settings. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. Today Putin has signed the law to ban VPN and Proxy services in Russia. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fstrana.life%2Fnews%2Fputin_zapretil_anonimajzery_i_servisy_vpn%2F2017-07-30-9205 One more country with a "Great Firewall"? Will you use your VPN service anyway when visiting Russia?
  4. Can anyone comment on this report done on vpn leak tests and tell me if these issues have now been fixed on Eddie Mac OS X client please. Or in fact if it ever was a genuine problem. also any IVPN users who have anything to say about that vpn service seeing as they sponsored it. Sorry im not sure on the date it was done so this topic might already be on this forum somewhere but a search here didn't bring any result. heres the link to the report https://vpntesting.info
  5. Hi, AirVPN Community I just join the AirVPN community. I choose AirVPN becomes its open privacy policies and some advance features like SSL over VPN. However, the Torrent download speed got me disappointed a little. I did some speed test before I used Torrent client. My Wifi Download speed was around 50 mbps and it dropped to 38~ mbps after I connected to AirVPN. This is understandable since I know using VPN is bound to have some performance hit. At the end of the day, I was still able to stream 4k. So, it was all good. Yet, when I tried BitTorrent to download something. The difference was too drastic. I could go from a download speed of 3~4 Mbyte/s when I NOT connected to AirVPN to somewhere around 300~1000 Kbyte/s when I connected. The maximum torrent download speed with AirVPN connection I have seems was only around 1.2 Mbyte/s. That was about 80% drop in performance. I have set up remote port forwarding, disable UPnP port mapping and NAT-PMP. It didn't help. I think since I could reach to 38~ mbps on Youtube with AirVPN, the only two explanations will be either AirVPN is not friendly to p2p, or my Torrent client and setting is not friendly to AirVPN. I have tried pBittorrent but It was the same story. Could you please share your thoughts on why would this happen? Thank you very much! ======================================================================================================================================================================= Update#1 I followed this post:https://airvpn.org/topic/23389-p2p-connection-slow-no-matter-what-i-do/ I changed the protocols to SSL:443, and used Ubuntu torrent to test the speed. It's working perfectly and I can see my speed went up to 8 Mbyte/s. I don't know why it needs to be obfuscated with SSL. If anyone knows the reason, please let me know. Thank you! ======================================================================================================================================================================= Update#2 The bottleneck seems came from UDP Protocols. TCP Protocols is working fine as well. My guess is UDP Protocol drops too many packets between me and vpn server. I cannot get those losing packets from vpn server due to its UDP. So I had to keep requesting for losing packets from peers which makes other peers less likely to passing me more packets, or some of them simply just got timeout.
  6. I am running Windows 10 64 bit and have been using airvpn for about six months now. I have had occasional problems with the GUI failing to reappear after closing the interface and up till now killing the procedures in explorer and restarting the program, or simply restarting the machine entirely, has resolved the issue. As of this morning, I run airvpn and no GUI displays AT ALL so I have zero control over my VPN. I can't set network lock nor can I even tell if my VPN is on or off. Restarting and killing the procedures doesn't help like they used to. This is very frustrating. I ran Glary utilities quick system clean/fix as I do regularly and this problem appeared immediately thereafter. I love airvpn - consider it best vpn option out there but now if I can't resolve this issue in a timely manner I can't think of any solution but a switch to one of the less reputable ( really it seems most all these companies except air are simply 'me too's' in it for quick bucks and how can you trust them? ) options out there. This situation sucks big time. Any advice would be more than appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your input, DB
  7. Hello dear fellow consumers of AirVPN, I recently bought an AirVPN pass to be a little more safe. I want to use Plex media server also. After trying to get Plex working with AIrVPN yesterday's night for almost 5 hours I couldn't make it. Today it's working (or is it??). My setup: - On Plex --> Settings --> Server "Manually forward Port to: 32400" - Router (fritzbox 7360): "My PC --> Port forwarding to 32400 (active)" . On AirVPN: Port forwarding to 32400 So. 1. The thing is: I don't really think I am really connected to the VPN, because I'm downloading atm, but download traffic on AirVPN main window is 0. 2. Also the port forwarding in the AirVPN section has the yellow light (Ip reachable on real network). 3. Furthermore the Ethernet 3 Adaptor on my windows machine says "No Ipv4 connectivity" but is connected. 4. Remote access on plex is ACTIVE and WORKING! SO MY FINAL QUESTION REGARDING ALL THIS IS: Did I finally get it working or am I just simply not connected to the VPN and it's working because of this? I've no idea after all I've done. Could anybody please enlighten my metaphorical darkness? Very kind regards Follow_and18
  8. Hello all, I've been with AirVPN for quite a while and I don't plan on leaving because of the awesome service! But, like many of you I do like to investigate the features and reviews of existing and upcoming VPN services. I was using TorGuard a couple of years ago, it was alright but speeds were very inconsistent. Upon checking their VPN Blog page this morning I noticed that there's a post about then using a new technology called OpenConnect, which is supposed to be the fastest and most secure way of connecting to a VPN. I just wanted to know if this is accurate information and if it is does AirVPN use it or are they planning on using it? Here's a link to the blog post: https://torguard.net/blog/torguard-introduces-openconnect-vpn/
  9. Hi, I just started using MS One Note and I have run into the problem where it does not work when the VPN is on. I have reads the thread here https://airvpn.org/topic/10700-ms-onenote-does-not-sync-vith-airvpn/?hl=onenote but it did not provide me with any advice as to what to do in Eddie to allow One Note to work. Can anyone guide me on the settings I need to change to get One Note and the VPN working at the same time. I'm using Windows 7 & 8 and also the OpenVPN on Android. Thanks In advance. Andrew
  10. Hello, When I connect to the Belgian server, Ipleak tells me that I'm connected from the UK. How can i fix this? ~Ahub When I connect with the Belgian server, airvpn tells me that I'm connected from the UKW
  11. Hello everyone, I'm using AirVPN and sometimes I access to websites protected by Cloudflare. Cloudflare often bans my IP Address and I've to change server. Could I simply request a new IP Address, without changing the server? Or, is there a way to not be banned? I noted Cloudflare sometimes put my banned IP address to a whitelist and I can use it other times, until Cloudflare bans it another time. Thank you in advance.
  12. When using Torrents my Speed is only about ~ 0.5 - 1.2 mb/s over udp 443! But if i try to download a steam game or something else it maxed out my fully 160 mbps internet that´s about 19 mb/s! Specs : i7 6700K - Windows 10 - OpenVPN - Unitymedia Cable Internet 150/10
  13. What do you think about them? I need to choose 2 from them.
  14. Hello people of this community, I'm using airvpn for 6 months now and i still love it! I have a 200Mbits internet connection. I expected to lose a lot of internet speed while using AIRVPN. But I was wrong. I still download files at 185-189 Mbit/s. (so a lose of +- 11Mbit/s) Airvpn is cheap, safe and very fast! I recommend everyone to use AIRVPN. You lose little to no speed and keep your privacy. What speeds do you get when downloading files? What speeds do you get when downloading files What speeds do you get when downloading files You lose little to no speed and keep your privacy. You lose little to no speed and keep your privacy.
  15. I too needed a long time before I knew how to get a printer and scanner working while online when using a VPN with either OpenVPN or Eddie the Client of AirVPN. Well the answer is much simpler than you think. You need to give your printer an IP4 address that does not change. Like 192.168.1.123 as long as you always make sure it looks like your Router IP4 Gateway adress. My printer has IP address 192.168.1.123 and if you don't understand how to do that either from within your router DHCP or from the printer itself I cannot help you unfortunately. My printer is simply at this IP4 address via a Wireless Wifi connection at the same router which has address 192.168.1.1 as most Routers do. But yours might look different. The problem with Windows 10 automatic discovery of printers and scanners it searches all network adapters and it might detect your printers and scanners even like it does here, but when on VPN I couldn't print or scan. Actually the scanner didn't even work before I knew the tricks how to install the same printer manually from an IP4 address by hand. In Windows 10 right click the start button if your right handed with your right mouse button and enter command below: control printers I would have liked to show a screenshot here but my language isn't English, so I describe that after you execute that command a Window pops up showing you devices like printers and scanners even when they might not work. Now look carefully inside that window, what does it say? ADD PRINTERbut then in your language. Well press that button. Another window pops up trying to discover devices on your network, but you should look for and press the text PRINTER I WANT IS NOT ON THIS LIST Now the magic starts to happen. It has many options to add a Printer, but you know you want a local network printer search for ADD PRINTER WITH TCP/IP ADDRESSBut then again it is in your own language but look for TCP/IP and press that option. Then press NEXT button. Another window pops up, leave automatic detection enabled. And guess what, it asks for the IP4 address for your printer, don't worry about port name that will be automatically filled. Type in your Printer IP4 address inside the IP text Area 192.168.1.123was my Printer IP4 address on my local network. Then it might ask for a driver, if you have none choose a printer that is a version higher but of same type. If you have a Deskjet choose a similar Deskjet, if you have a Laser choose a similar Laser. In my case I simply had the original driver which actually isn't necessary at all. If your printer is 4000 series and you see a driver called 4070 series try that, as long as it is the same brand of printer and same type of printer (Deskjet=Deskjet and Laser=Laser etcetera) Usually you don't need a driver at this point. Wireless printers communicate with a standard protocol hence Linux Operating Systems almost always too easily support printers and scanners. Then you have to press a few times NEXT, NEXT and maybe another NEXT. Make sure you remember how your new manually added printer that only communicates inside your local network outside any VPN is called. Software using printers or scanners like a webbrowser need a simple adjustment. That is when you print you must select the new printer or scanner you just added by hand. Please let me know if this works for you, and if you are English, can you do these steps with screenshots and place them in yours? I have a strange language you don't understand, So hence my screenshots would not explain it to you, but in English it does. I cannot for example tell you how to access the configuration panel in your language but that is why I told you it all starts with a simple command to execute control printers In my case my scanner wasn't even working without VPN and when I executed MSPAINT.EXE, I could even scan wireless when either with or without VPN enabled or disabled. Before I could only print or install hundreds of Megabytes from HP Printer Driver. Remember the name and IP4 address from your printer that is all you need. Don't rely on auto detection when on VPN.
  16. Hi, my wifi connects to Airvpn but ipaddress is the same. Need help, thanks.
  17. HI, It's been brought to my attention that Steam and Microsoft charge different prices depending on your geographic region. Thus it's possible to use a VPN to trick Steam, for example, into thinking you live in a region where prices are lower. However, in the Steam terms, you do agree not to use a VPN for this purpose. And your account could be permanently closed if you get caught. Question: What is the likelihood of getting caught? Specifically with respect to AirVPN.
  18. Hi guys! I set up my Windows 7 PC by this instruction: https://airvpn.org/topic/3405-windows-comodo-prevent-leaks/. It's a nice HOW-TO guide and i'm very grateful for it, but is there any similar guide to add TOR before my VPN connection? I tried to find some info on this forum, but I couldn't. So, if anybody knows links to HOW-TO guides please give it to me. Thank you! P.S. - I know about Eddie, but i really want to set up it with OpenVPN.
  19. Hello, I have AirVPN running as OpenVPN on a Asus RT-AC68P where all my client connect to. Port forwarding and everything works great. I have unRAID running on a home server connected to this router behind the VPN that is running the lastest version on Nextcloud. I am easily able to access my Nextcloud outside the home, remotely, via the AirVPN port forward airdns system. I want to be able to access my Nextcloud server via a single address whether it is remotely (where I use the airdns port forwarder) or in house on the same WiFi network. Clearly if I'm at within the network then the Airdns port forwarder will not work. I know I can just use the local address at home to access but it would be nice not to have to keep switching server addresses. Is there a way to do this? Do I need to get a webhost name and have that forward to the static IP? Thank you!
  20. Hello All, I've been with AirVPN a while now. I think they're the best. My ISP plan was 10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. Initially, I had some speed issues. Staff were wonderful and solved my issue. Great speed all around. I recently upgraded my line to 50 Mbps up and 10 Mbps down. When not connected to the VPN I get speeds around 45 to 47 Mbps down and 7 to 8 Mpbs up. Connected with AirVPN, I get about 25 to 27 Mbps and 7 Mpbs up. Strange that the upload is not affected. I have tried so many things; different protocols with different servers and so forth and yet no resolution. I have contacted Staff and they suggested a few things but nothing has worked. I think they may be stumped as well. My modem is a TP-Link TD-W9970. I believe it's properly configured. I do NOT want to try another VPN service. I've been reading online to find a solution. Someone mentioned changing the MTU settings from the computer (not the router). Could not quite get it to work. I don't know if my CPU is responsible as it is about ten years old. I plan to upgrade my system soon. If it is the CPU, I don't understand why the speed is fine without the VPN. Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you all, DL
  21. I work in a school in China that has suddenly changed admin and become somewhat hostile. According to one of the IT people here, they've installed software on a server that would enable them to take screenshots of anyone's computer or phone that is on the network. We don't have to install software on our laptops or phones to be able to get on the network so I really don't see how taking screenshots is remotely possible. It MIGHT work if we log onto the network to move files or to print, but even that seems a bit of a stretch. I trust the IT guy as far as being honest. He didn't install this new powerful software, but heard someone else in his office talking about it. I'm guessing if I'm on a VPN my Internet use should still be secure. Any comments or ideas about this?
  22. Hey, Just a few days ago before I left everything worked just fine, and now I'm back home and can't login. The error I get is: I've tried reinstalling, rebooting the pc and other things you try when you troubleshoot. There is also nothing in the logs besides the error in the pop-up window. A screenshot is in the attachments. Maybe someone knows what to do.. Regards
  23. Using Windows 10 here. I'm trying to use VPN over Tor, but it's not working! My exit IP is the Tor one and i don't know what to do, since i already followed this: https://airvpn.org/tor/ I'm already with Tor marked in the connection mode, so i test and it says ok, and then i save it. I do this with the Tor Browser already open. I've also already read the "Tor Control Authentication" section of the link above and checked the Torrc file. And there is already the "ControlPort 9151" and the "CookieAuthentication1" writted. In the article above, it also says that i should run from a terminal some kind of code, but it looks like something for Linux distributions. What should I do?
  24. I'm trying to create a docker image that connects to a VPN on launch with Eddie. It appears the error I'm getting is related to a driver that's needed at some point, but I can't find any details. I'm using the standard portable eddie version (though I also tried mono and ended up with the same result). 25. It would seem that in an effort to shill for the Chinese Government, Mojang has decided to ban all users on VPN's from connecting to the login servers needed to access the game. In doing so, they hope to force all Chinese players to fall back to the Chinese government approved version of Minecraft. All VPN users should now be logged out when connecting and fed the message "Invalid username or password" When emailing Mojang about the issue, they recommend connecting without a VPN to fix the issue, and in one instance in the reddit thread below, a user was informed that their account was outright banned for using a VPN (However it is unknown if this was because of a previous infraction such as bypassing server bans etc.?) And told to use the Chinese version instead. https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/5vwve1/mojang_now_ban_accounts_for_vpn_usage/ Now i personally do not play Minecraft that much at all anymore, but because of this i cannot access my game simply for trying to protect my privacy, and I'm not even from China. I Refuse to remove the VPN connection simply to play a game, and no one else should have to either. Sadly, i already purchased the game a very long time ago, so i cannot boycott them, but i can certainly spread the news of what they are doing, so that other VPN users looking to play the game should know either not to buy it, expect to disconnect if you do, and if you don't you will have to get the game through other means to retain the ability to play when connected to VPN's.
