  1. Hello! The speed you can achieve depends a lot on the VPN and choices associated with it. You can try and increase your send and receive buffers to 256kb, in the Eddie preferences menus . There's tips in my guide as well - all you need. There's many people who get extremely fast speeds with Air. It just takes a little tweaking sometimes. It's good you decided to check out VPNs - especially due to your concerns (which are shared by us) regarding those UK laws. Welcome to AirVPN!
  2. Hello! Are you using the Eddie client? If so, make sure it's the experimental version. NL is fine.
  3. Haha, first time someone calls me Boss around here. It's undeserved, but thanks lol. What platform are you on and are you using the Eddie client? Supposing you're on the current stable 2.10 release, there's some troubleshooting information in my guide. Alternatively, you can try to install the Experimental version. Do also check ipleak.net to make sure everything is in order - you should only see Airs IP addresses. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. I don't care what level they are. Lots of things factor in when it comes to speed. It can often come down to what connections your ISP/Carrier has and thus that can impact which speeds you get. Thus geographically close servers aren't automatically best either. Likewise protocol choice can make a difference. If you use SSL for instance, you can expect things to go a bit slower. While even if you use the recommended UDP protocol, it may be that your ISP partially blocks or filters it on a given port or does other things they shouldn't be doing; hence one of the reasons why there's different ports for the same protocols and you should experiment . You can whitelist the servers which perform the best for you.
  4. You're most welcome bro. There's more tips in my signature.
  5. Hello! What a way to overreact. If you think that's the worst that could've happened, then I'm inclined to think you live in a very safe world indeed . I think if this is what it takes to apparently completely ruin your trust in AirVPN, then I wish you good luck in finding another service which equals it. I'm sure that had the VPN not connected and instead thrown an error or something, there would've been an equal number of people posting about how Air "broke their internet" lol. But thank you for notifying us, regardless. It would've been nice if you could also tell us what version of Eddie, if you're using it, you're using and what your OS is. We'll see if the Staff agrees with you about this being such a major security issue.
  6. Hello! Well you should always try from other servers
  7. Hello! In addition to what zhang said, you can also enable Network Lock, if you're using the Eddie client. Whenever you buy an Air subscription, you become a "Premium" user .
  8. Hello! Is this what you're looking for?
  9. Thank you! Installed ... yes About says Version 2.11.7. Uninstalled the old one ... installed this one. Everything was the same and logged right in as usual on reboot (thanks to those other tips on autologin). Perfect. Using Mint 17.1.Haha, works like a charm indeed . Enjoy! P.S. Join us on 18, Sarah is where the real party is at ;D Haha
  10. I'd definitely rather see them leave, than risk anything, if it comes to that. I'm staying with them regardless. Air is like water in a desert lol, you don't just give it up.
  11. Well the Air Staff are quite the Stoic types . So it is my experience that they do not say anything, regarding anything, unless they really feel they have something of value to say. Not everyone likes this. But if you really want *answers* you can always submit support tickets I guess. Also, as zhang has said or hinted at on a number of occasions (sorry I can't reference it), datacenters may follow a different set of rules in a country, to my understanding. Thus companies like Air may not be impacted as much as one might otherwise expect. Of course we can imagine why it could be in Airs interest not to withdraw the UK as a server region: there's many UK servers and UK content is perhaps amongst some of the most popular. Thus it can hurt financially doing so. But that's just my musings . I still trust in Air to withdraw servers and/or otherwise take action somehow, if they believe there's a real threat. After all, the most treasured VPN commodity is trust. Without it, VPNs go bust pretty quickly. It's good you're concerned and paying attention though. Oh and as for France, I think France is also a special case because it's currently still in a state of emergency. Perhaps in addition to any existing lackluster privacy legislation. The ending of this emergency has simply been continuously post-phoned. Under such circumstances, the government has additional "rights" that it normally doesn't have.
  12. Heeeey, well you're certainly the first to post in this thread for a long time ! I really appreciate your kind words. If you run into any trouble feel free to ask us for help . Welcome to AirVPN!
  13. Welcome to AirVPN! Enjoy the ride
  14. I have gone to the download page for 'Experimental' ... https://airvpn.org/linux/ ... and I was presented with this file which I did download, eddie-ui_2.11_linux_x64_debian.deb. I can't find where to download other beta versions such as the 2.11.7 mentioned. I haven't installed it yet but I'd sooner get the latest one. Just joined yesterday ... liking it! thanks. That's the right one. It's always the latest one you're downloading. It's just that Air hasn't changed its naming conventions I suppose. After launching the program, you can simply check its "About" section to see the version. Anyhow, Welcome to AirVPN!
  15. Hello! If you're trying to use the Eddie client, please use the experimental version. Just a heads up .
  16. Hello! It's a British bill, so I don't see why you're mentioning the Netherlands, so I suppose the answer is "No" it doesn't fall under UK jurisdiction. Besides, you don't need a bill like that to make it potentially dangerous to operate in the Netherlands or connect to it, because one of the defining "features" of bills like the Snoopers Charter, is that they retroactively legitimise any past government hacking that may or may not have been carried out. There's also a bill in the us which saw the FBI be granted extended hacking powers. There's already a number of other threads about this topic, both in this forum and in the off-topic forum, which discuss the bill you linked to. Air hasn't, to my knowledge, replied to any of them yet. However we've got several strong indications that if Air thinks the bill poses a threat to its service and thus its users, it would take action .
  17. There's a link in my guide, in the "First Questions" section regarding the 3 devices limit. There you'll find a link to what a powerful router looks like. But it really depends on how much you want to mess with things, as even the very expensive consumer routers aren't automatically really suitable for handling OpenVPN - as it's very demanding. Thus some people buy small computers and run their own PfSense firewall solution on it, to make it act like a router. So do your research . Besides, even if that extender were a router and you were able to install software on it, it still wouldn't be powerful enough to run things well I think.
  18. For network lock you just download the Eddie client and click to enable it. For Tor you download the Tor browser bundle typically, start the browser and then go into the Eddie preferences>protocols and enable Tor. Then you click the test button, to make sure it works.
  19. Hello! Welcome to AirVPN. Damn, you speak French? I'm jealous lol. Anyhow... If the site in question was supported, then you would be able to watch it from any Air server, thanks to the micro-routing you alluded to yourself. However as in another thread, you may have to submit a support ticket requesting support for the site that you're interested in. Although in that aforementioned other thread, F2 (Which I presume must be France 2) apparently works, so perhaps you just need to try a different server or such. French servers were also shut down for various reasons, to be replaced by Belgian servers. But Air will bring them back online when they think it's responsible to do so .
  20. Hello! What a fantastic opening post! Spoilers, detail, everything! It really is almost Christmas!! Have you tried: Setting the Media Status to Application Controlled (Yeh, it works sometimes, but only after setting it back to this lol). The Experimental client (Wasn't clear if you included this, when you said latest client) Making sure no third party security software is blocking anything. Different protocols. Forwarding ports. (Just getting this checked off)Which torrent client are you using?
  21. Hello! It depends on if you have the patience to install on a router or not and whether or not your router is beefy enough to run AirVPN. It's of course simplest to just install Eddie, most of the time. As far as i'm aware, the ALFA R-36 isn't a router, it's a range-extender. I would install Eddie on your desktop and laptop. Then install one of the appropriate OpenVPN apps on the samsung tablet. After all, if you run out of device slots, you can just disconnect 1 of the devices momentarily.

Hello! Thank you. Although I think it should've gone to the off-topic forum.
  23. Hello! I think they're fine. Air wouldn't chose them if they knew they were really bad, I should think.
  24. Hello! Hm, I doubt AirVPN could handle such direct transfers, without being severely burdened. You could also pay with a cryptocurrency if you wanted - although that would involve a whole series of extra steps haha. I can understand that you want to avoid PP. They indeed haven't been playing nicely with VPNs (or anyone they disagree with) for some time. However many members do still use PP, so it might work for you. Besides, using a VPN will get you flagged anyway lol. Only Air can help you with actual billing though of course. As for the supposed bug, it may be useful for backlogging stuff. Exactly like for sales. So that you don't miss the sale before buying. Welcome to AirVPN!
