1. No they're different. I'm just trying to say that security software can sometimes cause problems for Eddie. If you want to use them, that's up to you ^.^. Ones like zhang would likely suggest that you don't use such garbage software, but that's something you'll have to ask him - his answers can be quite fun
2. Hello! You can find everything you need to know in most cases, by searching around .. You can check my guide for instance, as it has lots of information ready for you. Welcome to AirVPN!
3. Hello! That's nice of you . It's hard to reach the top of most review lists, when you don't do bribes lol . Hence why PIA is everywhere - Got to wonder if that's a coincidence ^^. Jokes aside: Taking a skeptical point of view, one could argue that Air isn't necessarily all that interested in being at the top of every list, seeing as while that means more revenue potentially, it also potentially means more complete novices. Novices which, if coupled with a lack of patience, can become quite the nuisance for Air and people on the forum and thereby leave as angry customers; perhaps ones who'll then actively try to discredit Air, wherever they go, because they couldn't get Eddie to run on their toaster and get a reliable connection to Nigeria, if you know what I'm saying haha. Unreasonable requests. Because remember, Air is quite technical. Or at least quite open about being so. Which means a lot less information is hidden or abstracted from its users; unlike perhaps most other VPNs. This can overwhelm people .It should be said however, that Air already enjoys a very positive reputation and as such will naturally reach those users who are perhaps already in tune with Airs views and methods; uncompromising security, no overselling or absurd marketing fluff and lots of technical features to explore, provided one has the patience and curiosity. Thank you for the links however. I might add my own review eventually. I've seen reviews where Air basically gets 10/10, but isn't listed as number 1 on the list. Sometimes the reason is a lack of protocols such as PPTP and such. Other times user hostility is mentioned, in the sense that Air is very complicated to get into for technical novices (which I then sought to remedy). Still other reasons used to include a lack of country servers or device allowances; where other services would allow 5 devices per account, Air would allow 3 or less. Where other services would have servers literally everywhere, Air would seem limited in comparison. So, provided that the reviewers don't go beyond the veil of marketing, it's really not so surprising if Air gets short changed. I mean, which service do you choose: the one with 1000 servers or the one with 200? It's obvious......... Until you discover that the ones with 1000 servers all over the world, are mostly using Fake GeoIPs lol. But unless you take a closer look into what service you're buying, you might not discover these things. Or worse, you might not care. So why should Air care for such customers in return? All I'm trying to say is, don't despair if Air doesn't appear at the top of the chart, because in the end, quality shines through, but Air can't be everything to everyone, as I see it ^__^. Air can try its best to secure its service and provide you with a default level of high-security, but it can't fix stupid .
4. Zhang is saying that the current Eddie client (the AirVPN Software), 2.10, uses Windows Firewall as a default, when you use its Network Lock. But that the new experimental Eddie, 2.11.5, uses Windows Filtering Platform instead of Windows Firewall. This means that the experimental client *may* work when you use 3rd party security programs, such as those from Avira, in your case - except that in some cases, software such as Avira *could* install drivers (a kind of software) deep within your system, so that even Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) doesn't work. Which is why more testing is needed, to see what happens; which is also why Air wants feedback on their Beta client. Just don't use two similar kinds of security software on your system, such as 2 anti-virus products. I hope that's more clear. You can also check my guide in my signature - I do list some stuff about the Beta. In short, you'll have to try the Beta/Experimental client and see if it works for you, as we can't guarantee if it will or not. But it's worth a try, since one of the big benefits of using WFP, is precisely that Eddie will maybe have an easier time working with such 3rd party software, such as Comodo and Avira .
5. By the way, from your OP, it seems you didn't disable IPv6. I suggest you at least try to disable it entirely on your system and see what happens.
6. Hello! Eddie has an exclusion list for making things go outside the VPN tunnel. You could also try the experimental client. Sent to you from me with datalove
7. Hello! You aren't using an outdated router by any chance are you? Sent to you from me with datalove
8. Hello! Very good work indeed . I would recommend you change the title, to reflect that this is a guide or a how-to, as it otherwise appears like it's just another question.
9. Yess airvpn works! The problem was that the normal eddie client crasht after a x couple of minutes. But after installing the beta version it works super smooth. Just wondering. How can u check if a VPN provider use VPS servers or fake geolocation? I just tried ipvanish for a week and did a tracert to google.com from a Croatia server. This is the output: Hello! As with selecting a good VPN, you find out all you can about their service. You may for instance discover that they paid for provider X and that provider is a VPS provider. Sometimes the scoop is hiding in plain sight .
10. Hello! Just to make things a little clearer: AirVPNs Eddie program changes Windows Firewall rules, when you use Network Lock. In the latest "Stable" Eddie client, 2.10, this capability can sometimes be broken by 3rd party programs such as those from Kaspersky. So if you want to use such programs, it's recommended that you use the Experimental Eddie client, as its version of Network Lock handles things differently. This then allows for Network Lock to potentially still work, when other 3rd party programs are being used. It's not a guarantee, but I think it's worth a try. Check my signature for more details.
11. Hello! Why don't you use the Eddie client? Just curious. Sent to you from me with datalove
12. Hello! You can always attach a log in a file and/or use spoiler tags - then it won't matter how long the logs are, really. I'd say it's more likely it's something to do with your setup, rather than Airs. But it's hard to say, without logs and more info. On your PC, you ought to experiment with different protocols and servers, at the very least.
13. Hello! If you're torrenting you need to make sure that your firewall isn't blocking anything and that you've configured port-forwarding. Lastly, presuming you're using the Stable client version of Eddie, remember to shut it down correctly, aka "kill with grace". Not, for instance, just turning off your PC. But instead, using Eddies menues to quit it. This way you can avoid DNS issues and other issues, which might make it appear as if the VPN killed your connection, as you can't browse the web. If that doesn't work, you can either simply reset IPv4 & DNS connections - I'm assuming you use Windows - or try the latest Experimental version of Eddie. Regardless however, feel free to check the guide in my signature for lots of useful information. Next time, do indeed try to attach a log as well, as it can help a lot.
14. Hello! Just don't name them Furud. It sounds like it could be a variant of some kind of unpronounceable Swedish fudge cake or something, that people really just prefer avoiding With all due respect to Sweden of course. All hail IKEA.
15. I don't know if it's a bug or not, but the latest experimental doesn't start up again when you boot Windows 7 64-bit, if it was originally "killed" without grace; even if the "Connect at startup" and "Start with Windows" and similar options are ticked. 16. Hello! Maybe you could try the experimental client. But it would be nice with some logs too, if applicable and possible.
17. Hello! I can refer you to the guide in my signature for answers to those questions and other questions you didn't even know you had . In short, Air doesn't log and how it works with games is "very well", I'd say.
18. Hello! May they RIP. I never liked the name Furud anyway Staff, so don't worry about me, I'll be okay. . So have no regrets!
19. I'm still curious if the experimental client would've solved it for you. Did you ever try it? Oh and I'd be careful around that suspicious "zhang888" person, as you never know if he'll suddenly build a wall somewhere and proceed to blame China for this "global warming hoax" it created, on his Twitter account!
20. Look, you can't just quote one piece of the logs, we need the entire log. This is the equivalent of having to solve a murder case and being told the murderer is a man with two arms and two legs. How many people do you think fit this description? It's information, but it's not useful by itself. But if we know the where, when, what, how and who in the case, we can deduct that maybe the murder wasn't a murder, but in fact an accident, or that it wasn't an accident, since a person with 2 arms and 2 legs was seen running away from the scene of the crime; thus making that first bit of information actually useful anyway. Thus, we need the entire log, as it has many kinds of information. If you can't or won't provide more information, then you should likewise expect to either not get any help or to otherwise not getting your problem solved, despite whatever small attempts at help you may still have received. If you go to your Eddie client - or whatever client you use - there's a tab somewhere which will say "Logs" or something similar. Copy all the logs and then paste them here, in the aforementioned spoiler tags. K?
21. Hello! You should try the Experimental Eddie client and see if that helps
22. You might have the same symptoms, but that doesn't mean the underlying cause is the same. Thus I likewise recommend that you supply more information and perhaps start your own thread entirely as well, so as to not hijack the OPs thread
23. Hello! It would be helpful if you could provide some logs from the AirVPN Eddie program - there's a logs tab and a button which will copy the logs. You can then paste them here. Please use spoiler tags.
logs here
Also, what OS are you running and are you using any additional security software? Under preferences, you can try using other protocols as well.
