  1. I've never come across tthis 'forwarded from' thing, mine always says from a transparent proxy, hopefully someone else knows about that! The exit node will always be recognised as an AirVPN server just as a Tor exit node will be seen as Tor.
  2. Also your IPV4 DNS settings may need resetting back to automatic or whatever they were before being set to AirVPN's internal DNS address (10.4.0.1)
  3. Does it actually show your real IP address anywhere? It sounds like the information you see is all wrong which is what you want Check values with AirVPN's 'Stats' page within Eddie (Air's client window). The IP that AirVPN use is the exit IP address of the server you connect to - this is the IP you would expect to see in ipleak.
  4. Faster to connect/disconnect/shut down. Loads. Never had issues with traffic speed either way.
  5. Can do. Some copy the rules created by Network Lock and use or add to them meaning they don't have to use network lock! I'm using Linux (Mint) most of the time now which is different altogether and about 100 times faster for me.
  6. You are already doing what you require anyway - when you initiate AirVPN all your internet traffic will be routed through it once the connection to an Air server is established, including any connections made using the Tor Browser unless I am very much mistaken.
  7. Yes you need to disconnect to see the big deactivate NL button but Eddie will deactivate it if you exit out of AirVPN in a normal manner. If you shut down the computer or it crashes then you will have to reset Windows FW or import a previously exported set of rules- you will also need to check your IPV4 DNS settings if Air doesn't shut down in an orderly fashion.
  8. Network Lock will set up the firewall rules automatically when you switch it on (and restore the previous rules when switched off).
  9. Hope it brings in loads of new customers
  10. On the forwarded ports page you will see a 'check' button for every port you have forwarded on each server your account is connected to. I don't know what checks are made but presumably unless the indicator turns red all is ok. If any of mine turned red I would remove the port and contact Air but its not happened in my experience here. You can check it whenever you like - no need unless something isn't working. I usually remove a port if I am not using it since you can map any port number to the port you want anyway. The DDNS can be anything - use your own naming convention that no one else will easily guess I suppose! There is no other setup to do, the port will be forwarded immediately.
  11. Just to add that I've never encountered such problems on any server using search.disconnect.me which I've been using for ever, nearly.
  12. If the client does not shutdown in an orderly manner then your DNS settings may need changing back to Automatic or whatever they were originally. If Network Lock was applied then Windows Firewall may need resetting to default or again reverting back to the rule sets in effect previously.
  13. Thought you were aware, you were confusing me Hope its made it clear to those who might think they are 'safe'.
  14. Be as careful as if you are not using a VPN. Your ISP will not know what you are doing but if your not using https then all your traffic beyond the VPN exit node (exit IP) will still be in plain text for anyone to see if they so wish. Your traffic will be mixed up with everyone elses on that server though and your real IP address will not be seen. What you mean beyond? As far as I know the traffic is encrypted by the Eddie and sent to the servers that then send it to where you were browsing and the returning traffic from the site is encrypted by the AirVPN server and the Eddie then recieve it and decrypt it for your computer. And to me beyond means that the traffic is not encrypted after the VPN node I mean between the VPN server and your destination (eg. a web site). Your data is encrypted only between your computer and the VPN server. The VPN server decrypts your data before sending it on to its destination. The VPN service has no control over what happens to your data once it sends it on. When it receives data meant for you, it encrypts it before sending it back. A Virtual Private Network is only between you and the VPN's server you connect to, not all the way to whatever the destination is. With https, the s stands for secure, which means it is encrypted whether you use a VPN or not, therefore when https data is sent on by the VPN server it is still https and thus secure from end to end.
  15. Be as careful as if you are not using a VPN. 16. Who do governments, especially the UK, employ as technical advisors for goodness sake. As has been intimated those that want/need to keep things secret will do so, no matter how the stupid government legislates. As usual they just love wasting time and public money on pointless tasks as long as they are aimed at keeping an eye on the masses.
  17. Perhaps the word 'Duck' got confused with a similar word somewhere in the mix
  18. I simply use the Tor Browser once connected to Air - this is Tor over VPN. I have to remember this or I get confused with the terminology In your case you would require VPN over Tor which can be achieved by using the Tor option in AirVPN-->Preferences-->Protocols.
  19. It is working thanks but very very slowly for me (using Gienah, Firefox, add-ons switched off, not thru Tor). The page is still loading as I write after five mins. It had finished but the page is not formatted correctly - is that a separate problem? The site is not usable. Added: Today, the site is working just fine Many Thanks
  20. Thats fine but a VPN sub is a slightly odd present for an eight year old I would suggest
  21. Why can't you simply wait?
