  1. Could try upping the TCP/UDP buffer size settings in Preferences -> Advanced
  2. Very true, well pointed out as always. I don't and have never used AVG but that means nothing!
  3. I disagree big time with the best answer - look out for yourself and use as many services as you think you need. Do not pay a penny for any of it. No Need.
  4. Since my girlfriend has gone loopy and thinks I am now a serial killer, I only need 1 connection, Can I get a rebate?
  5. I feel it is also not a bad idea to mention that copyright trolls and indeed any company that claims it is doing anything to defend the rights of artists and the freedom of artistic expression is only in fact defending its own position of making money out of those very artists; artists of which that parasitic industry thrives on in the first place. The whole copyright and rights holders rubbish needs a complete overhall so we get rid of the spongers as did Peter Grant, the Led Zeppelin mangager back in the early 70's.
  6. Yep, no logs. no info, and DMCA requests are ignored since they do not apply to Air.
  7. I don't know if PIA provide anything like Air do as far as the port forwarding facilities go, I think they may be referring to the fact that you should not configure it using your router settings, at least not the same ports you forward withing the VPN itself else you can open up the possibiity of correlation attacks. Leave the forwarding withing the VPN tunnel only.
  8. I think you should be able to watch your Finnish TV using other servers; just post the sites that won't work under the Blocked Websites subforum and Air will see if they can sort it for you
  9. NL servers tend to be quicker than UK servers when in UK; I don't really care why
  10. Why would anyone with a brain cell want to even try to use UKASH? Your link says it all As an aside, I closed my Paypal account. Buying bitcoin instead. I couldn't care less about the pro's and con's; last straw for PP for me was after they suddenly ended a long term and friendly relationship with 'Soulseek' without as much as a bye bye thank you. Tossers.
  11. Canada is getting a lot of servers lately. Quite a few new ones in a few places. Good stuff
  12. You can whitelist servers from which the best server will be picked already. Edit: Oops, giga beat me to it
  13. Not much can be ascertained if all you can give us is 2 weeks away. I've been 8 months away a year or so ago and there was no difference when I returned, so time away means zilch. You need to investigate a bit more or at least give much more info else everyone here could be suggesting and listing a multitude of things - I suspect you would get no replies.
  14. Can't help, I'm new to Mint 17.3 and have recently reninstalled the root cos I made such a mess of things . However, I find Eddie a breeze to use on Linux, lightening fast and just perfect. What is it with mono that is so bad?
  15. UK here too. I've never needed to actually compare Air/Non Air speeds because its always been quick but I do use a speed monitor so from my 16Mbs I can get more than that when connected to most NL servers which I mostly use. The new UK Bellatrix server seems pretty quick for me too so I use that or Carinae but that gets used a lot these days. Another Edit: Try going into Preferences -> Advanced -> General and changing both the TCP/UDP settings to 256 (or 512 later), then clos the client and restart
  16. Like any software, even open source, you have to trust in others at some point, thats why I take time to keep on top of which software is rated at doing a good job over a period of time. If anything iffy was happening it would be all over the net somewhere. I do not trust any one company simply because over the years no one company has ever been capable of covering all aspects of IS whether it be their signature databases or the nature of malware being scanned or checked for. I certainly am not going to pay two or more companies when most of what they do will overlap. This is why I choose to use many different free services targeted and covering all the areas of malware from rootkits to adware. This has served me well for a long time as previously stated. For me, security & privacy are surely entwined since much malware is designed to find out as much as possible about you, whether it is details stored in files, your browser, your network, your cloud, or your head and fingers. Always be weary, no matter what.
  17. I imagine you all do your Christmas shopping at the local pound shop
  18. I wish I could get my head around to-ing and fro-ing but its way to complex for me. Sorting out some of this stuff would certainly be good if some good stuff in the way of information was provided since it seems for 99% of users these problems do not arise and cannot be replicated. If I ever get problems like these I usually spend a great deal of time finding out what is not right with my system, since it is unlikely there is a problem with Air software.
  19. Whatever 'decent' means in your context I'm not sure but common sense surely says any decent encryption cannot have a back door.
  20. My 10 cents; Governments such as the UK (mine) are using their proganda machines to demonize anything that might make it difficult or impossible for them to snoop upon. So anyone using any type of encryption must be doing something underhand or illegal, unless you are using a bank or shopping on line but don't mention those because they are legit and people might start thinking encryption is good. If terrorists or any criminal wants to keep stuff secret, they will (try at least), no matter what the stupid governments want with regard to back doors and other such nonesense. There is little difference in essence than before digital technology was around, cryptography has been alive and well for centuries. I just hate slimey underhand liars, (lots of expletives) governments, totally hypocritical teapot heads, members of who do loads of secretive deals and other such deeds that they would not like in the public arena. Thank the Lord for Snowden and others like him.
  21. I had no idea what CET was! but I do now. I never noticed any disruption but at least we knew what was going on, sort of.
  22. I guess I'll stay not serious. After using free stuff for over 20 years since Norton tried to get their fingers inside everything, I have no intention of buying any anti malware software ever. I am not convinced in the slightest that there is a need. And I certainly ain't arguing about it.
