  1. Hello everyone, I'm a new user to AirVPN, and just installed Eddie, requested a port (random one) and connected to a VPN server (I've picked over 10 all over the world). Whenever I try to test out if port forward is working when I click "Test open" I always end up with Connection Timed out (110). I even tried Canyouseeme.org, same issue there. Does anyone knows why and what I'm doing wrong? I didn't have these kind of issues when I used Mullvad (before they removed Port forwarding)
  2. Hello, I have an issue with port forwarding and my ASUS router. I've got an ASUS route, running the latest stock firmware (3.0.0.4.388_23013) with mostly default settings. The router is directly connected to a modem in bridge mode so there's no double NAT. I imported a wireguard profile and assigned my NAS to this profile. So far everything works good and as expected, and the VPN connection is active for my NAS. Most posts in this forum seem to be about the ASUS merlin firmware, but I'd rather not install a custom firmware if not necessary. For my setup: I am running an owncloud docker instance on my synology NAS and want to access it with port forwarding on the internet. Therefore I went to https://airvpn.org/ports/ and assigned a port and DDNS entry. My owncloud docker container has the port 8080 assigned as local and container port and I can access it correctly with my local ip:port. The port entry has port X assigned and as local port I setup 8080 to match the owncloud port. If I now test the port status with "test open" on the ports page, I just get the "Connection timed out (110)" error. Afaik, there shouldn't be any custom port forwarding rules necessary in my router settings, as the FAQ says don't forward the ports you want to use in the router, as that might be a security risk (?). Also accessing the ddns:port address and checking the outgoing ip:port gives also connection timeout in my browser. For testing I also forwarded a random other port and tried to listen on it on my windows pc with openvpn active and that yielded the same results. Forwarding a random port in my router and then listening to it without vpn worked though, as some testing webpage showed that this port is open then. I tried to troubleshoot it with the help of ChatGPT, but all the ideas it had, didn't yield and results or improvements. Am I missing something? There doesn't seem to be any special settings regarding the VPN Fusion connection and any type of port forwarding etc.
  3. Okay so I'm trying to port forward plex and qbittorrent but testing it using Airvpn returns " Connection timed out (110) " and using https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ tells me that both ports are closed. The setup I have is a bit complicated since Plex and Qbittorrent are running in docker along with an openvpn-client to connect to Airvpn. Docker is running in vm using Fedora CoreOS and the vm is running on a machine with a Fedora Server. I tried different ports, rebooting the machines and temporarily disabling the firewall on the vm and host but its still no working. Also, I'm behind a carrier grade nat but to my understanding that should not affect port forwarding using Airvpn, right? So not exactly sure were the problem is.
  4. I have changed the settings to use a different port other than 443, however using quick connect it still always connects to 443.
  5. Hi, Application Version: 2.0.1 Could someone please try to change the port or protocol settings within the Android Eddie Client as I seem to change the settings then when trying to connect and it just connects using Port 443 and UDP. This seems to be a bug for me and I would like to confirm it with someone else. Thanks.
  6. I have AirVPN all set up and running great on a pf Sense router that my home network sits behind. I am trying to get port forwarding set up for torrenting on a server running Windows Server 2016. As far as I can tell everything is set up exactly as it should be but I just can't get it to work. I am connected to Metallah. I have created the forwarded port on the AirVPN site. I have the port open in my Windows firewall. I have the port forwarded in pfSense. I have my torrent client configured to listen on the port I've set up in AirVPN and pfSense and I have my torrent client running with an active torrent trying to download. I have verified that the port is open and can be connected to on my LAN. I have tried 2 different torrent clients (qBittorrent and Deluge) as well as a port listener tool that simply opens any port you specify on TCP or UDP and just listens for connections. When I check the port on the AirVPN site I get error 110 timeout. I've also tried other sites and tools for performing external tests on that port and they all indicate that the port is not open. I have tried creating several new ports on AirVPN (at least 4) and tested on multiple computers on my network all with new corresponding NAT rules in pfSense. No matter what I do I can't get port forwarding to work and I'm at my wits end. I hope someone can help me figure this out. Here is a screenshot of my NAT rule in pfSense.
  7. I've lately had increasing amount of issues with AirVPN port forwarding for torrents. Fully working system stopped working. I have Windows firewall blocking qbittorrent, unless traffic goes through VPN. I have set port for incoming traffic to qbittorrent. Lately this has stopped working. I have fixed it previously by removing forwarded port from AirVPN, doing the same port forward again and maybe switching server - So the issue is not with qbittorent or windows firewall rules. Today resetting port forward and switching server has not helped. I confirm VPN connection with IPMagnet or similar service and haven't managed to get working connection yet. I use AirVPN maybe few times a month and there can be weeks without using it. Is AirVPN losing my port forwarding settings, is this server related issue or what gives? EDIT: Ok, got it working again. I had to restart Eddie. Then I tried to switch server and had to restart again to get it working. It's quite a hassle to get things working with AirVNP.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm not a network buff and only understand the basic concept of port forwarding. · How does port forwarding in connection with a VPN work? Does it come on top of the local configuration, instead of it (because of some tunneling or what), or does it have no effect..? My problem is: I cannot get a certain port open (52070 TCP or something), neither with nor without VPN. I explicitly opened the port in Windows (10) Firewall, and configured my Wi-Fi router accordingly, to no avail. I tested the port by going to a website. With my limited knowledge, the only possible explanation for the closed port to me is that the Wi-Fi router does not support port forwarding to a certain (fixed) local IP, but only based on a MAC address. It was suggested to me I do the former (whatever the possible advantage is). What should I do? What can I check to find out what's wrong? And how does VPN affect all this? Thank you.
  9. Hi, After I've forwarded the right port in AirVPN client area and put the right settings in qBittorrent, I finally get great speeds while connected to the VPN service. However, the speeds (for torrents), seem to fluctuate heavily between 0 and 200Mbit (my max speed). I have the feeling it is because of some setting or limit somewhere that high speeds cannot be sustained. Here is a screenshot of the Eddie speed: More info: - Using network lock - Using OS X 10.12.6 - Using an SSD - Using Asus AC-3200 router - Only using the utun3 network interface in qBittorrent - Used settings described here for qBittorrent - Disabled firewall on router - Looked for any settings in my router that might impede sustained speed like ICMP flood detection but cannot find those - Using port forwarding in client area Is this normal behaviour? I don't really mind it for the time being, as speed is much faster than before, however maybe I'm missing a setting that could prevent this?
  10. Hello. Can I have some help please. I'm trying to Port forwarding the following ports for a better multiplayer steam : UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic) UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV) TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads) UDP 27031 and 27036 (incoming, for In-Home Streaming) TCP 27036 and 27037 (incoming, for In-Home Streaming) UDP 4380 TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port) UDP 3478 (Outbound) UDP 4379 (Outbound) UDP 4380 (Outbound) and for rocket league: 7000 – 9000 UDP (For Game Servers) 80 TCP (HTTP Connections) 443 TCP (HTTPS Connections) What I sohuld do in the client area-->forwarded ports section? Thanks.
  11. Hello, I am using an Asus RT-AC87U with AirVPN. I have a couple of problems. I wish to forward multiple :80 ports to multiple addresses, but I believe that is not directly possible. I can create the IPTABLES rules, but I can only open port 80 to the VPN if I am correct? Is there a way I can open multiple :80 ports on multiple local IPs? It doesn't really matter if I need different or new hardware. Second, my Asus router seems very instable. The speeds are slow (around 1.5mbps where I can get 300mbps without VPN), but that isn't the real problem. Every week or so, the VPN client disables itself without further notice, and I can't enable it manually, it simply never starts. The logs state nothing. The only option I found so far is to fully reset the router and setup everything from stock again, until it breaks again. Am I maybe better of using a custom (server-grade) box or router running PfSense (or similar)? Also keeping my first quesion in mind.
  12. Hi great people, So I recently renewed my premium membership but the issue is that port forwarding no longer works for me, the thing is that port forwarding is very critical to my work because I need to remote control my work PC from my home on a daily bases now I that is no longer possible. So I'm asking, is any other person experiencing this problem? What can I do to get port forwarding working again? Thanks for your replies in advance.
  13. I have the VPN set up on my router. In the past I have successfully forwarded ports, using iptables, for a torrent client and a subsonic server that's running on a raspberry pi (my subsonic account uses a subdomain on subsonic.org). Now I've installed nextcloud on another raspberry. I can access it locally via the raspberry's ip, but I can't get to it externally. For external access, I'm hoping to use a subdomain on my own website. Here's what I've done: 1. Pointed the A Record of my subdomain (cloud.mysweetsite.com) to my DHCP ip address. 2. Forwarded a port on airvpn.com, using local port 443. 3. In my router (dd-wrt), I set up this iptable: iptables -I FORWARD -i tun1 -p udp -d 192.168.1.102 --dport 15119 -j ACCEPT iptables -I FORWARD -i tun1 -p tcp -d 192.168.1.102 --dport 15119 -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -i tun1 -p tcp --dport 15119 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.1.102:443 iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -i tun1 -p udp --dport 15119 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.1.102:443 15119 is the port I forwarded on airvpn. 4. in /etc/apache2/sites-available/nextcloud.conf I'm specifying ServerName cloud.mysweetsite.com What am I missing? What have I done wrong? Perhaps I should ask on the nextcloud forums instead of here! But it just seems like the vpn adds an extra layer...
  14. For the last couple of months, I've been running my TiVo without problem through AirVPN on my pfSense box. Yesterday, it started complaining it was running out of Guide data. When I checked, it hadn't been able to connect successfully for a while. It now thinks port 8080 is being blocked. I pulled the TiVo out from using the VPN and it has no problem. Putting it back through the VPN causes it to again complain about port 8080 is being blocked and it won't connect. My pfSense box is set to not block any outgoing stuff. Ditto for traffic on the local network. According to: http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId={cacf82f0-6407-11df-ccef-000000000000} Cox (my ISP) doesn't block port 8080. And, according to: https://support.tivo.com/articles/Troubleshooting/Which-Network-Ports-and-IP-Addresses-Need-to-be-Open-When-Using-my-TiVo-DVR the TiVo needs no open incoming ports. Also, it doesn't complain about any of the other ports that need to be open for outgoing traffic (or within the local network) as being closed. Did something change recently with AirVPN where it's starting to block outgoing port 8080?
  15. Hello I recently purchased AirVPN and it feels indeed very mature and tech-savvy service. However, I can't get full speeds, even though I have tried common tricks. I use an USB LTE mobile broadband stick, so my MTU is not (maybe) 1500 normally. Speedguide.net's shows that MTU is 1440 and MSS 1400, when I don't have the VPN connected. Because of mobile connection, my speeds differ from time to time, but currently I get download speed of 15 mbit/s and upload of 45 mbit/s (this is a result of many concurrent users at the same cell tower, but this is not the reason for low speeds, naturally). My OS is W10. I have tried both UDP and TCP modes and multiple ports, but speeds at AirVPN are DL 5-7 mbit/s and UL 10 mbit/s. They are significantly lower than without VPN. I increased the buffer sizes for both RX and TX to 256 kB and 512 kB, but it made not apparent difference. I tried the connection without Eddie and used the latest vanilla OpenVPN client with generated ovpn-configs, but speeds remained low. What is the most interesting part, is that my ISP is not throttling the connection. I tested this with another VPN service and their UDP protocol connection gave me DL of 12 mbit/s and UL of 39 mbit/s. I am sure there is some parameter which makes this difference, but what is it? I also trust 100 % at your infrastructure. Every time I connected to AirVPN servers, there were at least 850 mbit/s of bandwidth, so the problem is in the configure, but where? By the way, what I wrote about MTU, I didn't find any difference between AirVPN config and the another service's configc files, what comes to mssfix or related.
  16. Hi! I am trying to forward a port on ddns. I have finally gotten airVPN working and my goal is to forward a port on a ddns. However, i went to forwarded ports and left the fields blank for both local and public ports, which lead to a random port. You can see the information in the following image: ATTACHMENT When i do the TCP test, it says "Not reachable on server ip over the external port 13096 tcp protocol error 111 connection refused" I have also made a python script which is checking ports and I have set it to check if connection can be established to "osconnection.airdns.prg:13096" and "http://osconnection.airdns.prg:13096" but it says there is no connection at all. Does anyone know how I could fix this? I have had some trouble with AirVPN lately.... :/ Thanks! Cheers, Me
  17. Hi! I'm having trouble using Plex with air vpn. I just want to use plex to cast video to my chromecast in the living room but I need to have air vpn closed for that. If I have my vpn on and try to open the server interface I get the blue wheel of death saying "connecting", but it never does. What do I need to do to get Plex working with air vpn for this kind of use?
  18. Hello all, I have read all the information here: airvpn.org/topic/9161-you-provide-remote-port-forwarding-what-is-it/ And I have done other digging within the forum. It just seems that these posts are not helping me fix my issue so I am coming to you pros for help! My issue: Trying to forward ports 6112 and 6113 on TCP/UDP [both], for a game I play. So: I go to the port forwarding section in the Client Area, and I put 6112 in as the LOCAL PORT. I click 'Add' -- it then generates another port number for me such as 9898. In theory, that's all I need to do - according to other forum posts and the link I posted above. What is the relevance of this 9898 in the grand scheme? I know for bitorrent, I can use the '9898' as my incoming port so torrent works properly. And I already did that. But for the game it doesn't work. However, it's still not working when I play the game. Any ideas? If I'm not on VPN, the way I do this is: Go to my router, forward ports 6112 and 6113 on both protocols and set my internal IP. And then go to port triggering and put that in the router too (I have a linksys router). And that's it - works beautifully this way. Is there something I am missing?
  19. I followed this tutorial to set up OpenVPN in my router that uses DD-WRT. Works great. For getting torrents to work (using qBittorrent), I followed the second post here: set up a forwarding port via Client Area > Forwarded ports; and then in qBittorrent chose that port as the listening port. But still, the TCP Test fails, and the torrent is "stalled." I think I'm missing something obvious, but I would appreciate some guidance! Do I need to forward a port on my router? I can supply any additional information if needed! Thank you.
  20. Hello i wanna port forwarding but i need 21-53-80 system not accepting this ports.but my program is working only with this ports. system giving to me 3245-3543-5235 like so ? It saying und 2048 port reserved ? but i need that ports. How can i do thats ? Thank for everyone.
  21. Hi there! I'm new to AirVPN, and I've been using it at college on my Mac for the last month or so with great success. I'm trying to torrent with the Transmission client, and it's not working. According to Preferences, the default Listening Port (51413) is closed. My understanding after a little research is that colleges keep their networks locked pretty tight and tend to close off all unnecessary ports (please correct me if I'm wrong), so it would only make sense that after scanning all of the ports on the network though a web service, there isn't a single one open (I only scanned up through 2048). However, when I tried rescanning connected to the VPN, ports 88 and 89 were open (again, only ones I saw below 2048). I briefly tried port 88 in Transmission, which verified it was open, and did begin receiving the torrent I was trying. My question is this: is it safe to use either port 88 or 89 in this manner?
  22. Hi, the port forwarding feature caught my attention but I have some doubts. I think I'm completely lost with this. Let's say I have a server running Linux, basically serving a webpage, I have port forwarding enabled on my router so anyone with my external IP address can connect to it. Okay now let's say I don't want to give out my real IP address, if I understand how the VPN port forwarding feature works, I could use a VPN server to serve that webpage and hide my real IP address (I'd have to deactivate port forwarding on my router and configure it with AirVPN) Is that right? So I connect that Linux server through OpenVPN to an AirVPN's server with port forwarding enabled. For a VPN server, which is a single IP address, there could be maybe 50 persons connected to it, we're sharing the server somehow, but those persons could also enable port forwarding, so, what are the limits/ranges? Two different persons on the same server can't port forward a same port? How does it work? Thanks
  23. In the past I could run the TCP Test to check my Port Forwarding. Now I missed the Check button! Thanks for your help ;-)
  24. I am using a USA server and have noticed strange behavior in the past month ( not saying it started then, but noticed it ) . When I create a new forward port it works fine for a few weeks, then it stops working. I have to use another port ( not previously used ) in order to get it working again. My isp is comcast and I know they are know for shady things like this ( the netflix slowdown comes to mind ) Is airvpn aware of this happening on USA servers? I just wanted to make users aware because I spent some time looking at my config before realizing the port was being blocked. My last port was set two weeks ago, today I found that it has been blocked and had to change it.
  25. I have a couple of questions regarding port forwarding. One - I saw this line - but it isn't explained in the FAQ page: Watch for warnings from our security check: a red token implies that your anonymity layer may be lowered or broken by a malicious adversary. What does this mean exactly? Where would I find this red token and what exactly could it mean? Also - is there any additional setup required after forwarding a specific port, or will this be automatic whenever connecting through the client? And lastly - for Dynamic DNS - is there a specific naming convention I should be following for this when coming up with a name? Thanks in advance, I know this is several questions. KR
