  1. Hello! What a great post. I chuckled at the first sentence. Being French fortunately isn't a disadvantage. Which version of Eddie are you using and have you tried upgrading to the latest experimental releases? Are you using Network Lock?
  2. Hello! XP is a very old OS and Air has said on a number of occasions that one cannot reasonably expect it to be supported for much longer. That it received any support at all, is a small miracle in itself. So if possible, you ought to use a newer OS. I recommend: - Seeing if you can change to use Windows Firewall, if you can start Eddie. - Running Eddie in compatibility mode. - Running a portable version of Eddie. Otherwise you may have to upgrade your OS or install Linux alongside Windows XP. If you really must, you could also try downloading an older version of Eddie (also under "Other Versions" on the download page) if you really must. But I don't know if this would make a difference; except for lowering your security even more.
  3. Hello! Without going through the entire thread, it would appear it's more about semantics than much else; perhaps sprinkled with the usual PIA-type marketing. To my knowledge, PIAs customer support or whomever make the announcements, are not themselves technical experts like with AirVPNs Staff. Provided that's true, it seems entirely feasible that they thus also wouldn't be experts in precise language use; at least not or maybe especially not, in a legal context. One of the posters, Max-P, is apparently an employee. It's a little disappointing he doesn't seem to manage to post about splitting trust up, as Air does, by using Tor + VPN.
  4. Hello! Welcome to AirVPN! You can check the New User guide in my signature, beneath this post. There's some links to setting up your torrent client.
  5. Hello! I'll assume you're asking about AirVPNs credibility. I'll say that all VPN companies are definitely not the same. Being "logless" is something of a marketing term in some regards, as there's a difference between providing information on things like bandwidth usage and actually watching what people are doing online. There's also no need to outright log, if the security practices of the VPN in question are poor anyway, one might say . It's nothing new that there's bad apples and that the ones you mentioned, have been implicated in bad practices. The best you can really do, is to vote with your feet.
  6. Hello! Do you mean you run the VPN from your router? Anyhow, you may benefit from checking my signature, where there's a guide regarding blocked sites.
  7. Hello! Why don't you try and see if you can get those services working for the areas you're interested in: - Gaming - Browsing - Kodi Since features don't matter, if you can't get things working. You can then assess the speed and usability. I have to wonder where you got the impression that Air was "laid back" though. I'd suggest connecting to servers and then trying to play the games you normally play, to see which gives you the best connect; lowest latency/ms. Then, unless you haven't tried already, you could [see about installing AirVPN on the Firestick](https://airvpn.org/topic/21437-how-to-use-airvpn-with-amazon-fire-stick/). Other than that, I'd also suggest reading the fine print, if you really worry about security. For example, [it would seem that VPN.AC don't allow torrenting](https://vpn.ac/aup), while AirVPN does and [they have a restrictive P2P policy](https://vpn.ac/tos). It provides quite a lengthy list of do-nots and in the end that only makes one have to ask: are they watching their users? Since they'd almost have to, in order to find out if people violated their terms. Then you can [look at their features:](https://vpn.ac/features) AirVPN does all the above too. I believe AirVPN also does all these. Although I don't recall any talk of encryption on DNS specifically. Same deal again, AirVPN does this too. Now there's a difference. Note they didn't mention Linux. AirVPN has a native Linux client - but doesn't have a client for Android; so their situation is reversed, as both can provide the files for the opposite platform in some way or another, but without an actual client. They also support more protocols than AirVPN does, as Air only supports OpenVPN. But that's on the basis that all the other ones are unsafe or a poor choice in some regard or other. They also don't make any mention of what standards their client software uses. Is it FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) for example? Such transparency is increasingly vital too. They also don't mention things like Tor or other privacy and security-enhancing features of their client. While by contrast, AirVPNs client gives you access to not only many protocols including SSH and SSL, but also Tor. I believe AirVPN is on par here too. It certainly has stringent requirements for both locations and hardware used. It's interesting to note that they didn't mention security of their locations, which leads one to believe they only focus on speed in that regard. But as is known, some locations are better than others. Which is one reason AirVPN doesn't have servers in Russia for example. But speaking of locations, it would seem Air has more locations than they but, while they have some locations that AirVPN doesn't offer, such as Japan. So this depends on your needs too. Lastly I'd point out: - Why is a Proxy needed? They say they dislike gimmicks, but this seems decidedly gimmicky if you ask me. - They don't seem to provide as much transparency on their infrastructure as Air does. - I see no mention of any killswitch/leak protection mechanisms and the absence of this would be a glaring mistake. By comparison Air has Network Lock. Useful in the case of disconnections and similar. - They say bandwidth is [subject to "fair use" without specifying what that is](https://vpn.ac/tos), while Air doesn't have such restrictions I believe. There's certainly many people pulling TBs. - For all intents and purposes, they do log somewhat. Even though the whole "logless" tag can be an act of marketing too. - Slight inconsistency. They're against [P2P on servers where it's not allowed](https://vpn.ac/tos), but also say there's [no protocol restrictions](https://vpn.ac/vpn-accounts). But what about [bittorent then?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent) As such, they also don't have a policy detailing what they'd do if anti-piracy organisations sent them notices; besides perhaps suspending user accounts. - They don't mention if their VPN software is resistant to DPI; but they mention it with their Proxy Service, oddly. - It doesn't appear that they have a forum like ours and can thus benefit from the various advantages of community. In the end, it's what you make of it and what you need. They do a lot of things right in my book, in terms of security and privacy. But the devil is in the detail. Goodday P.S. I did format it better, but the forum editing software has some silly bugs which appear if you post, then edit and delete something.
  8. Hello! Just for reference, you can check the New User guide in my signature, for additional links on why there (likely) won't be more connections available - even for purchase.
  9. Hello! Thank you for making such a guide. I think it'll be useful. Great simple layout as well
  10. Hello! I recommend trying different protocols. You can change them from within Eddie. Change to a different protocol and then re-connect to a server.

    Just "hi"

Hello! Provided that you do that Staff, would you be completely against implementing another testing feature? It is after all supremely handy to have a speed testing feature; especially in the client. I at least would be interested in your own recommendations for speed testing sites and methodologies - as would many others too, I imagine . Issues relating to speed are also a constant feature of this forum, so perhaps a more comprehensive Staff reply to this issue in general, would be helpful and well-worth the effort.
  12. Hello! There's no discount for students specifically, to my knowledge. However: Black FridayAirVPN BirthdayChristmas/New YearAre the 2-3 usual sale events you'll see in a year with AirVPN. You won't see any Lifetime subscriptions either, as quality of the AirVPN kind can't be supported otherwise . Those sales are in the 25-50% discount range.
  13. Hello! Welcome to AirVPN! It's good to hear you feel (more) secure. Just remember that security is more of a process rather than a one-off kind of thing. I hope you got past that site
  14. Hello! As zhang said, it's the entry and exit IPs of that AirVPN server.
  15. Hello! By AirVPN FAQ, I don't know if you mean the new users guide or not. So just in case it's not, you can refer to the guide in my signature about torrenting, if you wish . Portforwarding isn't the only thing that can be done. There's other settings, as well as other protocols and servers to try.
  16. Hello! Have you tried disabling IPv6 on all interfaces including TAP? Have you tried disabling any anti-virus or firewall software you're running? Have you tried with and without Network Lock? Have you tried servers which aren't near you geographically? Have you tried running Eddie from a different computer on the same network? Have you tried different send and receive buffer sizes in Eddie? Have you tried different speedtests?
  17. Hello! Welcome to AirVPN! Did you download the XP version and for the correct architecture? If so, I think this kind of error is to be expected, given how old XP is. So provided you can't solve the issue, then you can either upgrade to a newer Windows version or switch to Linux, if your PC can't handle Windows. Beyond this, you could also try run AirVPN from a suitable router or another computer, turned into a Hotspot, which your current PC can then connect to, as all your traffic would then still be routed through the VPN. Maybe you could also give the portable version a shot.
  18. Hello! You can find information on that in the new user guide in my signature, in the First Questions section .
  19. Hello! In addition to the above, you may also benefit from trying without Kaspersky installed or active.
  20. Hello! You may check some troubleshooting tips in the link in my signature regarding blocked sites.
  21. Hello! Welcome to AirVPN! For some links to all of the above, you can check my signature if you wish. Included are some guides on torrenting, as you also do need to configure your torrent client, as well as perform some port-forwarding for optimum results .
  22. Why don't you try and see? It's fast enough. Simply go to your Client Area and submit a ticket.
  23. Hello! Welcome to AirVPN! Do be aware you're able to submit support tickets, in addition to asking on the forums. It might be helpful if you paste some of your Eddie logs here, if you're using Eddie. In my experience... You can also try the SSL protocols.Disable IPv6.Try out different servers from different countries. The Netherlands is good for a lot of people.Disable anti-virus software temporarily or otherwise add the airvpn.exe and openvpn.exe to exclusion lists.Port-forwarding is important for torrenting. As is configuring the torrent client in question.Try out different speed tests and not just the one in the AirVPN client.Sometimes with or without Network Lock can make a difference.

Welcome to AirVPN in that case!
  25. Hello! You can check out the Turris Omnia, if you feel ambitious.
