  1. Hello! It goes without saying but the easiest way is using Airs software, Eddie, with Network Lock on.
  2. - Did you turn on Network Lock? - Did you bind your torrent client to a specific interface such as TAP? - Did you turn off uTP protocol and any "stealth" modes? - Did you remember to restart the torrent client after making changes and then testing from the Client Area again? I wonder if trying out SSL/SSH will help against Comcast. But we're working a little in the dark here, when we don't know your torrent client. If nothing works, you can also always contact support directly .
  3. Hello! It is also to be expected that geoblock bypassing will continue to become more difficult. As for France, because France has been in a state of emergency and the US hasn't. While also potentially extending logging to datacenters. No one knows when we'll see French ones again. Naturally, it depends on the situation in France. It's futile to ask Air to put forth anything new, as any location must comply with Airs requirements.
  4. Hello! We can't tell you what's best for you, because it comes down to your preferences. But we can look at some things: Network Lock is Eddie-only. So if you want that kill-switch feature for your security when the connection drops, then Shimo may not be ideal. Eddie is FOSS software and therefore free, while it appears Shimo is commercial software and not necessarily open. For the 49€ Shimo costs, you could nearly get a 1 year Air sub. It seems Shimo is free until the next release. Eddie allows for easy changing of protocols and access to Tor while using Air. Eddie works on all major platforms, while it appears Shimo is MacOS-only. Eddie only uses OpenVPN, as that is the protocol Air prefers for many reasons. Which means it's not so important if Shimo supports all sorts of other protocols. Eddie has a highly specific purpose and so it seems it's more lightweight than Shimo, as Shimo caters to business clients too and so maybe it's less bloated. Eddie is going to become a client which is open for more than just Air.I'm not sure what you mean with setapp. As far as I can see, it's a subscription service. How would it then be "free" to use Shimo, when you're paying $10 dollars a month for the ability to do so? I would ask why you wouldn't just use the same money on Air and then use Eddie. As otherwise you're paying twice it seems. I'm also surprised you think the interface is unpolished. Perhaps you should check out some of the competitors? I suppose you need to decide what matters most to you: functionality or a pretty UI. You're not forced to use Eddie either. Many people don't.
  5. Are you using any 3rd party security software perhaps? Also, ports aren't the only thing which must be configured in a torrent client. You can refer to the New User guide in my signature and go to the guides section to find links on configuring torrent clients. An easy mistake for instance, would be to forget to turn off port randomization in the torrent client. Thus changing the ports constantly. Which torrent client are you using anyway? There's no need to thank me so much haha. We're a community, we help each other when we can.
  6. No worries. Why are you port forwarding? There's no need to match port forwarding to the protocol used in the client, if that's what you mean. But if for example you were torrenting, you would obtain a port number in the port forwarding area and then insert that number into your torrent client. Without (needing to) touch the protocol options in Eddie. Thus port forwarding is for when you need something to be reachable from the Internet. While changing protocols is for things such as when your ISP may be throttling you. You may want to read the stickied threads by Staff: https://airvpn.org/faq/software_protocols/https://airvpn.org/faq/port_forwarding/
  7. Hello! You're doing it correctly. You selected UDP 41185 in the image. Click save. Now simply connect or re-connect to a server. You can then go to the Stats tab and confirm that the chosen protocol is in use. If there's any other questions, then please feel free to ask.
  8. Hello! It would likely be better if you submit a support request, as they can help you with your payment much more readily than we can.
  9. Hello! Which client version are you using? Perhaps you can try download the latest experimental client, if you're already using the latest stable client.
  10. No problem . Indeed, it's a temporary fix, so I can't tell you why it's happening. If it's any consolation, you're not the only one who has had issues with TAP. You're also welcome to share your logs again, so we can see if anything changed, since it's quite possible to get the same error, but for different reasons. Ultimately, it may still be beneficial to contact support, as they may be interested in your logs, in order to work with this issue. Perhaps especially if they persist in the experimental client as well, as you say.
  11. Hello! Which Eddie client are you using? It shouldn't be crashing in the first place. You can see the version number on the "About" page in the client. Maybe you can try the latest experimental client. Are you using Network Lock and does this happen when it's not in use? Also, you don't need to turn Eddie back on necessarily. Just go to your networking adapters and their properties and enable "Obtain Automatically" on IPv4. That should fix it too. I think there's some DNS switching settings you can explore, but it's not recommended by Staff to change them. Otherwise it's quite expected that Eddie can't restore the first DNS entries upon crashing. If you can attach any logs, that will also be helpful, thank you .
  12. Hello! Why did you wait so long while suffering in silence, instead of contacting support? You could consider downloading the latest experimental client. Otherwise you can try: Disabling IPv6 on the different networking adapters, by going to their properties. Disabling and then re-enabling the TAP adapter, also in the networking section. In the TAP adapter settings there's also options for keeping it enabled at all times, which you may try. Make sure you're properly connected to your wired/wireless connection. Temporarily disabling any 3rd party security software that may be interfering. Different protocols, in the Eddie client. It would also have been helpful if you had told us what advice you had already tried, but no matter. But I commend you for attaching your logs and looking things up in the forum beforehand! We'll get your problem fixed.
  13. Hello! What Staff says about that. It's only getting harder to access restricted content and it's not the main purpose of Air. I don't think Air is a fan of any add-on features being purchased. There were also those who would pay lots to enjoy more than the then 3 connections, but this wasn't allowed. Now the limit is increased though, to 5. Maybe you should consider some sort of torrenting? Air allows this fully. It's just not ideal on the go.
  14. Hello! Please try different protocol and location combinations. I assume you're using Eddie.
  15. My bad. You don't need to downgrade; you can simply change to Xorg, instead of using Wayland. There's nothing wrong with the system as such .
  16. Hello! This should be why. So try go to airvpn.info instead of .org.
  17. Hello! If you want more information on when sales occur and how they're run, you're welcome to check the new user guide in my signature.
  18. Hello! Check your Sky and/or router account and see if there's parental control settings turned on. The UK filters a lot through the BBFC, to the point where Air's .org site might be blocked as well, because it's not safe for under 18s( ) . If this is in the case, try putting .info at the end of the URL instead of .org and you should get around it. Assuming you're using Eddie on the desktop, try go to Preferences>Protocols and use SSL or SSH. Then connect. . As a test, you could also try to access the site from your mobile and see if you get through or not. Whether or not it's all legal I can't say, but the UK does some strange things over there.
  19. Hello! Different ISPs handle things differently. So I think it's well-worth a try to use Eddie and then experiment with the protocols .
  20. Hello! That should be because you picked Ubuntu 17, which has Wayland as the default display server and Eddie can't handle that yet. We had a fair few Arch Linux users run into this repeatedly . [staff fix for Ubuntu 17.10] (Eddie 3 is when it's due to be fixed) It might be fixed sometime in the future. But as has been said before, it's not a priority, since it affects such a small amount of people. So it wouldn't be surprising if it hasn't been addressed yet. As for your questions: 1. Am I supposed to run airvpn with sudo? (You're not supposed to do anything, but there should be a password prompt when Eddie is started) 2. Am I supposed to create a config file before running airvpn? (No, not for desktops, if you're using Eddie. For mobile yes, because then you need to import settings into a separate program) 3. Do I need to do something to allow airvpn to access my display? (It should be a straightforward install. In the case of Wayland, you may need to disable/change it) There's also other ways around it. I hope that helps a little. Otherwise I commend your efforts and I likewise think it's brilliant that you're documenting your own progress and setbacks. Keep it up!
  21. I'm using the latest qbittorrent on OS X, that one is still v3.3. I've tried enabling uTP protocol with/without rate throtteling, however then it still fluctuates and doesn't go higher than 20mbit/s. Thanks for the suggestion though Hello! I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. But it appears the newest is 4.0.3 https://www.qbittorrent.org/download.php
  22. Hello! Check the announcements forum, not here.

  24. Sounds like a more sexy marketing iteration of SSL/SSH which Air's Eddie client already comes with, in addition to its built-in TOR support. https://airvpn.org/topic/18008-bolehvpn-got-a-information-request-by-authorities/?p=42576 & https://airvpn.org/topic/12848-warrant-canary/?p=22508 Sounds like a glorified browser extension without much credibility, since it seems they use google on their own website. It would also still be something you could accomplish yourself.
