  1. Hello, apart a couple of disconnections, the logs do not show any problem related to connection itself or DNS push. Try to force 10.4.0.1 as primary DNS of your physical (WiFi and/or Ethernet) network interface, it might fix the issue. Kind regards
  2. @StudentStumps So your system is not handling correctly DNS. Assuming it's some Linux distribution, do you have resolvconf or openresolv installed or not? Kind regards
  3. Hello, it seems that the TOR proxy is either not running or not listening to port 9050, can you please check? Latest TOR proxy bundled in the TBB listens to SocksPort 9150 by default. Kind regards
  4. Hello, more probably it's just a DNS problem. uTorrent does not need DNS resolution to work properly, so (if you have a DNS problem) the programs that need DNS resolution will not work properly, while those that do not need it will. Anyway all of them would be tunneled, if the VPN connection has been established properly. In order to check, verify and fix all of the above, can you please send us your client logs and tell us your computer OS? Kind regards
  5. Hello! First of all, please read the welcome e-mail and the instructions pertaining to your system. Picking which configurations to download depends on various factors: the country you wish to connect to, the server that has the lowest latency with your node, the available bandwidth of the server. You can also pick just a geographical zone (a country or a continent) and let the system choose the server that the system itself calculates as "the best" (under a performance point of view) for your node. Have also a look at our servers monitor for a complete overview (click "Status" from the upper menu). The Configuration Generator will generate them and let you download them according to your preferences (menu "Client Area"->"Config Generator"). Please read the instructions for more information. The FAQ and the How-To sections include several, additional information to get full advantage of all the additional features of the service (from port forwarding to Dynamic DNS and many more). It may vary according to your OS. Decompress the archive (if you downloaded a compressed archive) and just copy and paste the files. Kind regards
  6. Hello! Well, no, it doesn't. And that's logical, since an end web-site has no way to know your type of connection to our servers (or to any other VPN service). Or maybe we are missing something here? Kind regards
  7. Hello, ok, now check how your system resolves that domain name (it should be IP 198.64.4...). If you get a different resolution, the DNS you are querying is poisoned (speculation: perhaps your system is querying your ISP DNS and your ISP has been obliged to poison its DNS and hijack its customers communications). Are you running Windows? If so, please fix DNS leaks. Your VPN DNS for OpenVPN over SSH can be 10.50.0.1 and 10.4.0.1 In all of this discussion, anyway, it's unclear why you're running OpenVPN over SSH, are you behind a very restrictive firewall, or your ISP is disrupting OpenVPN communications? Kind regards
  8. Hello, before we can try to answer, can you please specify the origin of the warning? Kind regards
  9. Hello, thanks, we'll investigate about it. Kind regards AirVPN Support Team
  10. Hello, we have just released an announcement about Bootis and Cassiopeia situation: the problem remains (incredibly) unknown after 60 hours. https://airvpn.org/topic/9757-bootis-and-cassiopeia-momentarily-withdrawn We're glad to inform you that UK expansion was already planned days ago and Nunki addition is the beginning of that. Bootis and Cassiopeia problems will surely push us to speed up the expansion. Kind regards
  11. UPDATE 29-Jul-13: datacenter solved the problem. Bootis and Cassiopeia appear stable at the moment. UPDATE 02-Sep-13: new support team has been following us after the incident and proved to be competent and fulfilling our requirements and expectations. Bootis and Cassiopeia will therefore stay. Hello, as you may have noticed, Bootis and Cassiopeia have been down since 60 hours ago. During these 60 hours, datacenter support team has been incompetent to detect the cause of the problem, which remains still unknown. For the above reasons, we have decided to momentarily withdraw Bootis and Cassiopeia, awaiting for information from the datacenter. If you need a UK server, please connect to either Nashira, Carinae or the brand new Nunki. Kind regards
  12. Hello, about p2p activities: we have never received any communication or request of any kind from legal authorities (neither jurisdictionally competent nor jurisdictionally not competent). From private entities, we have received communications of alleged copyright infringements perpetrated through usage of p2p protocols through some of our servers, but we have never received any request of data disclosure. Until now all of such communications have never been accompanied by any proof, and now and then they referred to servers which were not operational at the time of the alleged infringement, casting serious doubts about the validity of any similar allegation. In case of personal data disclosure requests from private entities, the request would be simply ignored or in extreme cases cause us to report the private entity to competent authorities, because in general complying to such requests, in our jurisdiction, would imply to commit civil and criminal infringements. In every other case, we can't give away information that we do not have. Kind regards
  13. FTP or NNTP over VPN. Or torrents over VPN, over a secure, anon proxy. Hello, torrenting over a proxy is a bad idea (security risks). p2p while the system is connected to the VPN with p2p client bound to tun/tap interface or firewall rules set to prevent leaks in case of unexpected VPN disconnection is to be preferred. See our How-To for more details. Kind regards
  14. Hello! Yes, that's normal. 10.4.0.1 and 10.5.0.1 are VPN DNS IP addresses that your system can reach only when connected to the VPN. Kind regards
  15. Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in UK is available: Nunki. The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator"). The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP. Just like every other Air server, Nunki supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH. As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses. Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue. Kind regards and datalove AirVPN Team
  16. Hello! Please try to delete the .XML configuration file, it might be corrupt and maybe the autofix function fails. Detect the path and the XML file name by looking at the logs (right-click the Air dock icon then select "Logs"). Restart the client, it will re-create automatically the configuration file (you will have to re-enter your username). Kind regards
  17. Hello, in which OS version? Kind regards
  18. @retiredpilot Thanks! A warning: the result displayed by the web site you linked pertains to the cipher suite of your browser, regardless of the suite used by OpenVPN. The cipher suite in our OpenVPN setup is DHE-RSA-AES-256-CBC-SHA (RSA 2048 bit, packet authentication HMAC SHA-1). TLS mode on, TLS re-keying set by default (60 minutes, can be lowered on the client side). Kind regards
  19. Hello, it's very sad. At the same time it tastes bitter to see that those very same administrators who blacklist entire datacenters are the first to scream and cry when their service is blocked by some ISP or by order of some country government entity. Internet dismantling can go on not only for the continuous attacks by its usual enemies, but also "thanks to" bad behavior, not strictly forced by "Internet enemies", of some system administrators. Net Neutrality, end-to-end connectivity principle etc., should not be concepts to defend only when they suit. Kind regards
  20. Hello, first, just a clarification to let us answer properly: OpenVPN is running on your router or on the Windows 8 computer? Kind regards

    China

Hello, tested and working connections in China are OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH. You must not use Tunnelblick because it does not support this OpenVPN feature, please run OpenVPN directly: https://airvpn.org/topic/9325-development-of-os-x-airvpn-client Best performance is achieved on Singapore servers. Kind regards
  22. Hello, since you have resolvconf (sorry, the previous message was incomplete...) a more elegant solution is available. Add to your .ovpn configuration files (to all of them) the following lines: script-security 2 up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf so that OpenVPN will accept the DNS push from our servers, and at the disconnection will restore the previous nameserver(s). Make sure that "update-resolv-conf" script path is correct in your box. up & down OpenVPN directives are used to tell OpenVPN to execute a script. "script-security 2" sets OpenVPN security level to 2, which means to allow calling of built-in executables and user-defined scripts. Kind regards
  23. Hello, yes, it seems a DNS issue. If you don't have resolvconf or openresolv packages installed, please edit your /etc/resolv.host file (as root) and add the line: nameserver 10.4.0.1 Then try again, feel free to update the thread. Kind regards
  24. Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in Canada is available: Lesath. Just like every other Air server, Lesath supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH. As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses. Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue. Kind regards and datalove AirVPN Team
