  1. Back in early 2015 I purchased some bitcoin and a lot of it has been sitting as the price has increased dramatically. When I purchased the price was around $240. I would meet a seller in person and give him/her cash and watch my wallet receive. That was then, and I haven't had need to buy yet. Interesting way to buy bitcoins - amazon gift cards. I'll have to keep this in mind.
  2. really angers me. there are no good guys in politics. they're all astray somewhere.
  3. you're using an old version of Eddie. Maybe an update will help?
  4. I'm reaching other cloudflare sites no problem. I think it's just TPB.
  5. TPB has been working for me even since that story ran on TF. Right now it's not coming up so it could be that TPB is just having trouble at the moment.
  6. In Eddie just go into preferences>protocols and select SSL. Then (re)connect.
  7. route trace to that IP shows it's in chicago and other info says it belongs to swiftway. AirVPN uses servers with swiftway in Chicago. I'm guessing you saw this IP in the DNS server section? If so, it's just the ipv6 address of Air's DNS server.
  8. Something like Match will try to prevent VPN usage because they want to confirm that you are really you. You might find a server they aren't blocking but you might just have to stop using VPN for your time on Match.
  9. Is there more to that log? according to the log you posted there openvpn never actually ran.
  10. If you run openvpn on a machine in your network then Adguard wouldn't be able to act on anything in that connection because it's encrypted. If you run openvpn on the router, I think Adguard would still work.
  11. Not sure why Las Vegas keeps getting mentioned. I'm sure routing to Fremont is better and shorter than to Las Vegas from wherever you are. And, yes, what about Vancouver?
  12. I disagree with you saying server speed isn't a strong point. Air has only "real" servers (no VPS) and makes sure they have the proper hardware to handle the load. There isn't much more a VPN provider can do. But, because so many VPN providers use VPS I would say speed has to be a strong point of Air.
  13. so you're saying the connections shown in the client area are wrong? if they are, just disconnect what shouldn't be connected with the button on the right side of the table.
  14. I suggest Mint if you're new to linux. Eddie has always worked perfectly for me on Mint.
  15. In mint: I suggest you use the Eddie client. It switches DNS when connected and switches back to regular DNS when disconnected. Just go through the disconnection process, don't close the app forcefully. IN tomato: is there another option to use received DNS only? IF so, I'd use that.
  16. probably a DNS problem. can you ping an IP - 8.8.8.8 ? Also, any reason why you aren't using the AirVPN software (Eddie)?
  17. Can some other user of AIR vpn or someone else can get into my own network when connected to vpn in other words my private IP 10.4.* can anyone within same subnet get into my PC? Tunnels are in/out bound. no
  18. are you asking if you can come under attack from the internet or are you wanting to forward ports for a purpose?
  19. looks good to me. the only thing I'm not sure about is your use of FQDN in the alias creation. I created my aliases with just IP address, and I'm using static with ARP like you. you shouldn't need to open any port for your work laptop VPN. my wife uses her work laptop VPN no problem. I'm betting it's the same stuff.
  20. your max line speed is the limiting factor but, no, the router isn't as fast as your i5 most likely. Anyway, that router runs at 1.6ghz so I suppose that speed may be possible. have you confirmed the VPN is working by testing at ipleak.net? I'm a little suspicious as routers don't usually get that high a speed with openvpn.
  21. Create NAT and firewall rules that allow your work computer out via the WAN not VPN. My suggestion is to create aliases. One alias for devices you want through the VPN, another for devices you want through the WAN. Or you might create just one alias for VPN devices and by default new devices will go via WAN. I figured this was best for when I have guests they probably don't want to be going through VPN. Then edit and/or create NAT and firewall rules using those aliases.
  22. re the speed problems. does the stock firmware allow you to create a few openvpn clients? if so, try client 2. stock firmware puts client 1 openvpn process on core 1 - the same core that runs kernel processes. thus it can't crank up much. openvpn client 2 should use core 2. however, the max speed you'll probably get is about 40mbit/s at those clock speeds. those CPUs just aren't able to crank out the encryption fast enough.
  23. you can take a look at server stats, see which ones are loaded, see which ones are "closer" to you. But, that's just a tiny fraction of the whole matter. Your ISP, transit, peering - all that make up the route to and from the server - are what matters. Air doesn't know the condition of that route. Only you can know through testing.
  24. My suggestion for the router is to install merlin's firmware, which will look much like stock with some improvements. https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin.42/ The openvpn interface is much better.
