  1. Hello everyone. I was wondering if it is possible to use an ad-blocking non-AirVPN DNS on iOS? Why do we have to use the original airVPN DNS in the first place. We should have a choice of what dns server(s) we wish to use. Does anyone know if and how to get this to work? Thanks.

  3. Hi guys I always use to check my network info on ipleak.net also to make sure I'm connected to the vpn but, recently, using the Austria servers ipleak.net started to show that I'm connecting from UK. It's not a real problem as long as there are no info discloused about my real IP or provider, but I'd like to understand why that's happening. Andrea
  4. Just got airvpn and the download speeds on torrents keep rising and dropping all the time. Ive downloaded in the past without VPN and with a different VPN and the speeds were always steady around 900 kbs and 1mbs or higher. With airvpn its constantly fluctating every minute or 2. It goes up to around 1 mbs, then drops to 100kbs rinse and repeat. Already tried different servers and ports through SSL and SSH same thig.
  5. Now, I am fully aware that this question has been asked time and time again, but is it really safe to use Canadian servers? AirVPN has stated in the past that they fully conform to data retention laws in Canada. Which surely must mean that they keep data that the Canadian government by law requires them to such as timestamps, log in/log off times, ip etc. could some light be shed on the legal situation with Canadian servers to clarify the situation? More importantly what is and what is not collected by AirVPNs Canadian servers and what impact it has on our privacy. AirVPN constantly states that they would never host a server where they would put our privacy at risk; however in situations like this that statement alone compared with the legal situation at hand is no firm gurantee that we are actually as safe on Canadian servers as we are anywhere else. Quote from support and source link below "We follow laws on data retention in every country we have servers in, so any information which contradicts the non-obligation to log anything MUST be documented at least with the citation of the EXACT law which supposedly would force us to log. Please be sure that we don't work superficially or with misleading information on this critical issue like a lot of "false" anonymity layers providers do." https://airvpn.org/topic/3930-misleading-false-airvpn-does-log/?hl=%2Bcanada+%2Bdata+%2Bretention
  6. Hello everyone, I would like to create rules in the Windows 7 firewall so the AirVPN Edie client can work properly. Right now I have to allow all outbound connections for the client to work, which is not that secure. I want to have my Windows 7 firewall block all inbound and outbound connections unless I make a rule which allows a connection. I tried to make new rules in the Windows 7 firewall which included the AirVPN client files located in C:\Program Files\AirVPN to allow the connections but this did not work. I am fairly new to making firewall rules and using a VPN, so I need a basic explanation how to do this. Any advice would be appreciated.
  7. Hi everyone, Since I changed the DNS servers from my internet box, I can only access to websites threw their IP (000.0.00.00) and not from their names (google.com). I think it's related to a DNS resolution problem. I've tried some known issues on Ubuntu such as adding these lines to my ovpn files : script-security 2up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-confdown /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf Here is my connection logs : Thanks ! agent41
  8. Entire countries are redirected to US IP addresses. Either might be an IP problem, or the servers are really in the United States. If you cannot tell if the server is where they say it is, that's quite a problem! By comparison, i have only found about two AirVPN servers that Geolocate incorrectly, and there are plenty of alternative servers in those regions to supplement. Because PIA does not allow you to connect to specific servers, you have to roll a dice and hope that you connect to a server with good speeds and proper geo location. AirVPN by contrast allows you to pick these specifically, don't like a server? Don't use it. If its slow or has improper geolocation just connect to another server in the region.
  9. I am on the new Eddie beta and i cannot connect via Tor when it is using a obfs bridge. The error reads that it cannot identify the first node in the established circuit. Is this a bug or does AirVPN only work over non obfuscated tor? 10. Hi all, I have a little problem. I try to tell it with my terrible English. So i like to setup this VPN(airvpn client) >>> SOCKS PROXY>>> Browsers and others, virtual machines etc... (all socks traffic over vpn). The host os is linux.
  11. Very interesting paper here: http://blog.csiro.au/tinker-torrentor-streamer-spy-vpn-privacy-alert/ No mention of AirVPN, though.
  12. Hello everyone! I visited https://2ip.io/privacy/ through airvpn which told me that the possibility of using an anonimity tool is 99%. So they say that there is the possibility of 99% that I am using a VPN. This is true. They had found the difference between timezones, open ports 1194, 500 and 4500, and VPN fingerprint - OpenVPN, AES, MAC is SHA1, LZO. What could be done with that? I can only change my timezone but the rest does not depend on me. Do you have any ideas?
  13. Hi, Long-time AirVPN user, I'm on a linux PC, using the ufw method described here: (https://airvpn.org/topic/5586-prevent-leaks-with-linux-firestarter-also-stop-traffic-when-vpn-drops/?p=14095). I would like to share this connection with other devices, having my PC serve as a kind of router. Assume I cannot modify my router or the other devices to natively use AirVPN. I have been able to create a wifi hotspot using an ethernet connection. However, my devices are unable to complete the connection until I disable the firewall. Obviously, this is not an acceptable solution as it will allow leaks and I was wondering if anyone here in the community could modify randombit and worric's method to allow hotspot usage.
  14. Hi I have never been able to connect with the AirVPN client on OSX Sierra. It connects through the Windows client, Tunnelblick and OpenVPN but I would like to use the AirVPN client for more control. Can someone please suggest something. Here's my log:
  15. Hey folks, so for some reason my VPN speeds have gone from about 20 or so mbit to about 10-500 kb/s. My phone is not even capable of establishing a connection it is so slow. I have tested it on different devices and on my cell network in case my wifi was acting up. It appears to me like Verizon is throttling my connection into oblivion, when i disable VPN everything goes back to normal 40-75 mbit or so, which is why i am making this assumption. i am on the east coast and my ping to Ontario Canada has gone from 70 or so ms to over 260 ms. Ill attach logs and see if they help any but any help is appreciated. AirVPN_20160516_154857.txt EDIT: It appears to have fixed itself, although i have absolutely no idea why it happened at all
  16. Hello, I have a question that maybe someone more knowledgeable can answer. I have a computer at home that runs airvpn client and a remote computer. I want to be able to connect from either computer to another one with ssh. Without airvpn client, everything works (obviously). If I run airvpn without network lock, I can ssh from home to remote (it goes via the AirVPN server) but not from remote to home. I tried to start airvpn with the parameter "routes.custom=my.remote.ip.addr,255.255.255.255,out" but it didn't help - the required route was not added to the routing table. However, that problem was easily solved: I added the route separately with "route add -host my.remote.ip.address gw 192.168.1.1" and all was well: ssh works from home to remote and from remote to home bypassing AirVPN as I want it to do. Now, I enable network lock. This time I need to add "allowed IP" parameter to be able to ssh from home to remote: ./airvpn -cli -connect -netlock -login=**** password=**** netlock.allowed_ips=my.remote.ip.addr But ssh from remote to home is blocked by the firewall. I can't find any airvpn parameter that can be used to create custom firewall rules. So I ended up with adding the required rule myself. Before: # iptables -L -v --line-numbers Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes) num pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 1 177 16717 ACCEPT all -- lo any anywhere anywhere 2 0 0 ACCEPT all -- any any 255.255.255.255 anywhere 3 93 8963 ACCEPT all -- any any 192.168.0.0/16 192.168.0.0/16 4 26 4651 ACCEPT all -- any any 10.0.0.0/8 10.0.0.0/8 5 0 0 ACCEPT all -- any any 172.16.0.0/12 172.16.0.0/12 6 0 0 ACCEPT icmp -- any any anywhere anywhere icmp echo-request 7 1890 460K ACCEPT all -- any any anywhere anywhere state RELATED,ESTABLISHED 8 0 0 ACCEPT all -- tun+ any anywhere anywhere 9 6 502 DROP all -- any any anywhere anywhere Add the rule: iptables -t filter -I INPUT 9 -i eth0 -p tcp -s my.remote.ip.addr --dport 22 -j ACCEPT After: # iptables -L -v --line-numbers Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes) num pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 1 182 17197 ACCEPT all -- lo any anywhere anywhere 2 0 0 ACCEPT all -- any any 255.255.255.255 anywhere 3 107 10296 ACCEPT all -- any any 192.168.0.0/16 192.168.0.0/16 4 41 6945 ACCEPT all -- any any 10.0.0.0/8 10.0.0.0/8 5 0 0 ACCEPT all -- any any 172.16.0.0/12 172.16.0.0/12 6 0 0 ACCEPT icmp -- any any anywhere anywhere icmp echo-request 7 1981 480K ACCEPT all -- any any anywhere anywhere state RELATED,ESTABLISHED 8 0 0 ACCEPT all -- tun+ any anywhere anywhere 9 0 0 ACCEPT tcp -- eth0 any my.remote.ip.addr anywhere tcp dpt:22 10 6 502 DROP all -- any any anywhere anywhere Now everything works again, but the question remains: what is the best way to achieve that ? In the worst case scenario, I can just start airvpn in the background, wait a minute or so and then run iptables with my additional rule. But that looks ugly. Can anyone think of a better way ? Maybe some "event.session..." or "event.vpn..." parameter will do the trick ? Thanks for any help.
  17. Hi, I'm curious as to why AirVPN DNS servers do not support OpenNIC TLDs, and only seem to recognize ICANN domains even though AirVPN said they no longer recognize ICANN's authority. Any details would be appreciated. Thanks!

  19. I just wrote a review on TN (torrentfreak.com) about AirVPN after reading a good article by Ernesto. The article talked about important features to look for in a VPN followed by a list of the top VPN's for 2016 they reviewed and asked questions to. AirVPN didn't even make the list which was really surprising me. They did get reviewed nicely, once I found that article. After noticing AirvPN on the sidebar in the user review section, I noticed it had 5 stars reviewed by the user at the end of TN's take. However, it was only reviewed by one other user. I decided to add to my opinion with a detailed review I'm posting below. I'm also going to provide a link to the original article I read and a link to where we can all add our reviews. Let's help get AirVPN put on the list; if not possibly the top 10 at the very least. Here is the link to the original article: https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-anonymous-review-160220/ Here is the link to where we can add to the review: https://torrentfreak.com/review/airvpn-reviews/ Below is review. Let me know what you think.
  20. https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-provider-proxy-sh-compromised-gag-order-160626/ How would AirVPN react in such a case? Could they just shutdown the server? The thing I don't get: Proxy.sh is unser seychelle jurisdiction but they are forced to turn on logging on french server? Weired...
  21. Hello! I'm currently using Linux Mint 18 and would like to configure my system to use VPN over TOR (PC->TOR->VPN). How would I go about doing this? I'm using OpenVPN via terminal with UFW for a network lock. My UFW Config: [AIRVPN SRVR IP] 443/udp ALLOW OUT Anywhere Anywhere ALLOW OUT Anywhere on tun0 Anywhere (v6) ALLOW OUT Anywhere (v6) on tun0 Added to .ovpn configuration to prevent DNS leak: script-security 2 up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf Thanks!
  22. EDIT: I realize that without developer mode enabled I can not connect to Air via ChromeOS.

  24. Hello there I have setup in pfsense airvpn DNS Resolver and I am trying to setup internal DNS server with Ubuntu server. In order to do so I need a DNS Forwarder. How can I use airvpn DNS ? so I won't have any dns leaks from my internal network Thank you
  25. Hi, I got an issue. When i enable Intel VT-x in my bios, the next time i boot my pc, AirVPN can't resolve the route. It does set the ip address correct on the TAP v9 adapter. in the 10.x.x.x range and it does set the dns correct on that adapter. My TAP v9 adapter doesn't get a default gateway. Normal? On my physical adapter(virtualized Hyper-V adapter) it does set the DNS correct, but my ip address is still the same (192.168.0.x). Is this normal? AirVPN does a correct dns flush on the adapters. then it goes on checking the route. and fails. theres a screenshot attached. I also dissabled IPv6 on all adapters. Do u need more info? I'll be happy to give. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
