  1. Hello! Can you please try to run OpenVPN GUI? This will help us determine whether the problem is in the Air client or not. Kind regards
  2. Hello! The problem is here: Tunneblick 3.2.8 is not compatible with OS X 10.8.x. Please upgrade to an appropriate version, BUT please read here as well: https://airvpn.org/topic/9269-tunnelblick-33beta44-openvpn-221-critical-issue/ The reported problem might affect beta46 as well, if it's the case please apply the suggested solution. Tunnelblick can be downloaded here: http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/wiki/DownloadsEntry?tm=2 Kind regards AirVPN Support Team
  3. Hello! We're investigating, please hold on. We can confirm at the moment port forwarding problems on Tauri. We will keep you updated. Kind regards
  4. Hello! There are a search function and an advanced search function on the upper right corner of the web site forum pages. Please use them at will. In the EU we have servers in countries where Data Retention Directive (2006/24/EC) implementation has been declared unconstitutional (Romania, Germany) or where its scope does not cover our service (any other Member State). We fully comply to the EU legal framework. USA situation (under this point of view) is even better: in the USA currently there's no mandatory data retention at all, not even for domestic ISPs. Singapore, where we maintain 3 servers, has no mandatory data retention for our service. Please search the forum for references and documentation on all of the above. In order to look at Air VPN available servers please click on "Status" in the upper menu, you will access the servers monitor which reports many information. Yes, we have considered ways to counter-react in case of necessity. Kind regards
  5. Hello! Please uninstall OpenVPN completely and re-install it. Make sure to authorize the installation of any driver. Kind regards
  6. Hello! That does not depend on us. If you feel that it depends on us, can you please elaborate your considerations? Kind regards
  7. Hello! In order to do so just click on "Copy to clipboard" and paste where appropriate. The logs do not show any problem. You might like to try OpenVPN over SSH to make a performance comparison which would tell whether your ISP throttles OpenVPN more or less than SSH. Kind regards
  8. Hello! The problem has been fixed and the payment page is displayed again in English. Kind regards
  9. Hello! Thank you for your reply. Can you tell us whether you were trying to pay as a PayPal guest, or you have a PayPal account? Kind regards
  10. Hello! Thanks. Now, what happens with a connection from your computer (not from the router) to the same server, but toward port 53 UDP? Kind regards
  11. Hello! Can you please elaborate? What do you mean with "USA country choice"? Kind regards
  12. Hello! Thank you for your feedback. 1) The Air client is an OpenVPN wrapper which needs to launch OpenVPN with administrator privileges. OpenVPN needs elevated privileges to modify your routing table and default gateway. Please see this article by Sundman for some additional options (you will have to drop the Air client - anyway we do not bind you to use any proprietary software from us): http://openvpn.se/files/howto/openvpn-howto_run_openvpn_as_nonadmin.html 2) No. Please consult our How-To section to do that (with Windows, we publish an easy Comodo firewall solution). Kind regards
  13. Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in the UK is available: Nashira. The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Member Area"->"Access without our client"). The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP. As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses. Just like every other Air server, Nashira supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH. Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue. Kind regards and datalove AirVPN Team
  14. Hello! Before assuming that your ISP throttles OpenVPN please try a connection from your computer (disable OpenVPN on the router) to make a comparison test. What is your router model and which firmware runs on it? Can you post connection logs after a few minutes the router is connected? If the bandwidth remains consistent to 1 Mbit/s on all ports, this is a strong hint pointing to throttling. In this case you can obtain better performance with OpenVPN over SSH (assuming that your ISP does not throttle SSH as well). Kind regards
  15. Hello! Yes (on Windows - on other systems please check your nameservers). In general if your ISP has IPv6 DNS servers and you have set them in your Windows, the system can send out IPv6 DNS queries out of the tunnel. Kind regards
  16. Hello! You can bind ssh to the desired IP address (if you use sshd, "ListenAddress *" binds to all existing addresses). However, there's something unclear from your setup description: is the connection to an Air VPN server performed by the router or by the machine where ssh runs? Kind regards AirVPN Support Team
  17. Hello! You don't need to repeat those annoying steps every time: just resolve airvpn.org in your system hosts, so your system will not need a DNS query to resolve it. Add to your hosts file the lines: 85.17.207.151 airvpn.org 212.117.180.25 airvpn.org Kind regards
  18. Hello! But... we provided the solution in the very same guide and you applied it! With Tunnelblick OpenVPN binaries you had exactly that issue, remember? And you solved it with our guide. The problem is related to the fact that in order to accept the DNS push from an OpenVPN server, the client needs up & down scripts to set DNS that we don't have (yet). Kind regards
  19. Hello! Instructions for Windows are here (or click on "Enter" from the upper menu). Download the appropriate package for Windows 8 64 bit, which includes OpenVPN 2.3.1 and our client. You are not forced to use our client: you can use also OpenVPN GUI or OpenVPN directly to connect to our servers, as well as any other OpenVPN wrapper, anyway you might like to try our client for immediate connection and additional comfort. Decompress the package and follow the instructions. About your question on Firefox and uTorrent: you don't need any specific configuration for them, you just have to make sure that you launch them after the connection to one of our servers is established, then use them normally. This is true for every program, all the programs traffic will be tunneled transparently. There may be exceptions but only if you are into "advanced usage", for example forcefully binding a program to your computer physical interface will have that program traffic sent and received out of the tunnel (probably nothing of interest for you at the moment). Next step (or first step, as you prefer) is having a look at our FAQ and How-To, they will help you use the service in the best way. The servers monitor is a useful tool that you may access to have an overview of available servers and many more information. It is accessible by clicking on the "Status" button, direct link https://airvpn.org/status . If you have any issue please do not hesitate to write here or open a support ticket. In the forums you will also find "News and Announcements", description of additional services included in your subscription (such as Dynamic DNS, Remote Port Forwarding, Configuration Generator, IP geo-blocking bypass system, DNS checking, OpenVPN over SSL/SSH and more to come), which might come handy to you in the future and, last but not least, an active and competent community. Kind regards
  20. Hello and welcome aboard! What is your computer OS? Kind regards
  21. Hello! If you see OpenVPN process running, everything's fine then, even if you do not detach the screen before closing the terminal. On top of that you have the pf configuration that would not allow packets if the computer were not connected to one of Air VPN servers, correct? About the sleeping mode, as written there can be differences between different hardware and software. In your case, your Mac most probably does not turn off the network card and the connection is not lost. Some laptops might turn off WiFi card in sleeping mode, for example, to save battery etc. Just out of curiosity, are you still using the OpenVPN binaries from Tunnelblick or are you testing the binaries we built from OpenVPN source code? Probably there's no difference, just a curiosity. Kind regards
  22. Hello! Thank you, your feedback is much appreciated. i. Provided that you detached the screen where OpenVPN runs, you can do that. And you should not receive any warning message about OpenVPN. ii. When your computer sleeps, the connection to the VPN is lost. When you awake it, normally OpenVPN will re-try a connection (at least with our configuration files). However, before working as usual you will need to wait that the connection is re-established (a matter of a few seconds anyway). In any case, please check with care, behavior after a wake-up may vary according to hardware and software. Kind regards AirVPN Support Team
  23. Hello! Thank you for the information. i. We would recommend GNU Screen available (usually by default) on OS X. With it you can create, detach and re-attach terminal sessions and much, much more. See also this quick tutorial. Default GNU Screen in OS X is not compiled to support 256 colors. If you like to have them you need to re-compile screen, please read here. ii. Once you have detached a screen, you can simply close the terminal from which that screen was started. Any detached screen will not be destroyed when you close the terminal and any process inside any detached screen will go on running. When you re-attach its screen from any other terminal, OpenVPN will be just there. iii. You have some options here. You can send a graceful kill signal to OpenVPN "sudo kill " or you can re-attach the screen in which OpenVPN is running and then press CTRL-C. In order to discover OpenVPN PID: ps aux | grep -v grep | grep -i openvpn In both cases OpenVPN will restore your previous routing table. Only if you send a "kill -9" OpenVPN can not do that. Kind regards
  24. Hello! Can you please try again with your firewall disabled? Kind regards
  25. Hello! Thanks for the info, great! It would be relevant for us to understand how a DNS leak was possible, if you have the kindness to tell us how your previous DNS were set. Kind regards
