  1. Hello everyone, I'm experiencing frequent disconnects when connecting over wireguard since quite some time. Changing to another server helps, however, the server itself (Menkent in this case) has no issues according to the status page. This happens on multiple devices (linux and macos), the handshake just fails: wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Handshake for peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying (try 2) This goes on for multiple iterations. Sometimes wireguards reconnects faster, sometimes it takes a lot of time. After a few seconds, we're back to: wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Receiving handshake response from peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) [...] wireguard: wg2: Sending keepalive packet to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Retrying handshake with peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) because we stopped hearing back after 15 seconds wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Handshake for peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying (try 2) wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Handshake for peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying (try 3) wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Sending keepalive packet to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Retrying handshake with peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) because we stopped hearing back after 15 seconds wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Handshake for peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying (try 2) wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) wireguard: wg2: Handshake for peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying (try 3) wireguard: wg2: Sending handshake initiation to peer 1 (213.152.176.140:1637) Anyone has an idea why it fails? In case it matters, my connection uses CGNAT. Edit: Forgot to mention that I use the regular Wireguard client, not Eddy or something. Config created via AirVPN website.
  2. I'm tired. The connection keeps disconnecting sometime after the screen is off, and yes "Pause VPN when screen is off" is disabled. I as well went to android VPN settings and checked "Always-on VPN" and the eddie client still disconnects me. I tried the wireguard client, and while it does not do random disconnections, it doesn't play nice with excluding local traffic, even when add them to the allowed IPs. The issue doesn't happen on OpenVPN, TCP or UDP, but I wish to use wireguard. Here is the settings and connection log. 3. I just got a new computer and can no longer get the VPN to connect. it attempts to, then states disconnecting, then restart in 3 seconds and keeps going through the cycle. what do I need to do to resolve this? Thanks, Eddie_20221125_151118.txt
  4. Hi I am trying to connect to AirVPN from an OPNSense Firewall. I have tried many different configs and the status of my openvpn tunnel is always "connecting". The log file shows no errors, there is just a entry state all and client disconnected. Is there any working guide for the current OPNSense version. I do not have any problems to connect to AirVPN from any Windows Client in my network. I looked at my firewall log and did a tcpdump, but i can not see any incoming traffic. I do not have a private ip address, because i use a 5G router. could this be the problem? why is it working on other clients (Android, Windows Workstation)? thank you for your help
  5. Hi I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8+ running Android 8.0 and having issues with the VPN disconnecting after a few minutes (<1 hour) of not using the device. This happens with both OpenVPN for Android & the Eddie - OpenVPN GUI. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling OpenVPN for Android as well as deleted the config files and redownloaded them, but still doing so. Power Saving mode is off & I've also tried switching to other modes (Game/Entertainment/High performance). Does anyone know why/how to fix this? Apologies if this has already been discussed in another post/thread, I had a look but couldn't find anything, happy to use such a thread if you can point me to it. Thank you.
  6. I've been using android ICS openvpn client on a fire tv for a while now. It initially worked well, but I started getting disconnected frequently in the last couple of months. I have since upgraded to the latest build of openvpn (from http://plai.de/android), but saw no improvement. I have two configurations on the device, one to a specific server where I usually get good performance and one for an entire region. Disconnects only happen with the fire tv, other devices on the same network work fine. Any thoughts? My first guess is client (hence the upgrade ) or the OS. If it’s the OS many others should be having the same issue.
  7. what could cause the disconnect in the logs repeating after some time and this repeating after some time again and again : airvpn interface ethernet 4 metric changed from metric to 3, layer 4 ip airvpn interface ethernet 4 metric changed from metric to 3, layer 6 ip thanks for answers

  9. I'm having an issue where every time I open qBittorrent, AirVPN stays connected for about a minute then gets stuck disconnecting until I force close the program with the task manager. When I open AirVPN and try to connect to a server I get a message saying OpenVPN is already running. When I try to force close OpenVPN Daemon with the task manager it does nothing, forcing me to reboot. I can't seem to find any information about why the Eddie-GUI gets stuck on the 'disconnecting' screen or why opening qBittorrent disconnects the vpn. Any advice is appreciated.
  10. Hi I have never been able to connect with the AirVPN client on OSX Sierra. It connects through the Windows client, Tunnelblick and OpenVPN but I would like to use the AirVPN client for more control. Can someone please suggest something. Here's my log:
  11. I use AirVPN through an Asus-router with AsusWRT. It works perfectly fine for all connected clients... until it doesn't. At some random time, the VPN connection will stop and there is no connection to the internet through the router. This can happen when the connection is active, but also in the middle of the night. The only way to re-activate is login to the router, turn the OpenVPN client Off and On again, then everything works again. This is a serious pain, not only for me but definitely for the rest of the family. I'm very satisfied with AirVPN, but this issue needs to be resolved. Any support welcome Regards,
  12. I've got a Premium subscription, and working on an iMac (macOS Sierra 10.12.1). I only managed to connect to a server the first time I used AirVPN (few weeks ago) but since then it won't connect to any server. Any idea what is going on? Your help is much appreciated. 14. After I was using AirVPN for some hours without out a break. I noticed, that AirVPN automatically has connected to a new server with another IP. I missed the moment, when this happened and only saw the new IP adress in the AirVPN client some minutes later. I wanted to ask if this is a normal behaviour and when this happens, is the server changed dynamically or is my notebook getting disconnected with the old server and reconnected with the new server, so that I lose the AirVPN connection for a small moment?
  15. Hello, I have this problem which is not going away since I installed Eddie. It occurs with stable Eddie 2.10 and the new 2.11.3 beta. Installed new windows 10 x64, no anti-virus software whatsoever, only windows firewall and windows defender (I somehow can't deactive windows defender) I did not changed windows firewall settings. The mainboard got only 1 ethernet port. Router is working with no errors. I did not configure the router - just installed and it worked 100%. Cut to the chase: Case 1: - My internet connection is only working, when Eddie is running and I'm connected to an airvpn-server. Whether Windows firewall is running or not, doesn't matter. Whether network lock is enabled/disabled doesn't matter. With this, I can do everything: browse internet, listen to internet radio stream, play online games. http://www.pic-upload.de/view-31678207/working.png.html Case 2: - Eddie is running but not connected to an airvpn server, network lock is deactivated; windows firewall enabled/disabled The tap-windows-adapter V9, which was installed during the Eddie installation, is disconnected (windows diagnosis: Ethernet cable is not connected). I can't browse website, listen to internet radio BUT I can play my online game unreal tournament 2004. Peculiar: I can't browse or whatsoever, BUT whenever I try to load a website, the orange mainboard LED (ethernet port) begins to blink - this means it's up and working. The green LED is always on, indicating that the hardware is working. http://www.pic-upload.de/view-31678297/notworking.png.html Case 3: - Eddie is closed, windows firewall enabled/disabled. Same result as in case 2, except again: UT2k4. Eddie is starting with windows. Even when I disable autostart and windows starts without eddie, I get same result as in case 2/3. As I already mentioned, there is one strange exception: it's the online game I play, u2k4. In case 2/3, I start the game, I go to the ingame tab "Servers" and the game is showing me the ut2004-servers, up and running, so I can connect to them and play online. But the even strager thing is: case 2/3 with network locked disabled (ofc. I need to disable network lock when Eddie is up and running, or else every traffic would got blocked). I start the game, go to "Join Game" and the "news feed" is showing me that the game can't connect to the "UT2k4 Master Server" -> "Querying Master Server: The UT2004 master server could not be reached. Please try again later." This normally means that I'm offline and can't connect, but as already mentioned: In the other tab, servers are shown to me and I can play online. So I thought that windows firewall/eddie set up some strange internet connection rules. I checked the windows firewall setting and reseted them to the default settings, but nothing changed. I checked HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules, there are ~100 registry keys. But as mentioned: I did not change anything. I think this is not how this Eddie is supposed to work. thanks in advance
  16. History of my use with AirVPN: https://airvpn.org/topic/17299-speed-goes-to-0-then-disconnects/ Hello, I am going to try and provide as much useful information as possible with my issue and the steps taken to try and resolve this on my own. Ever since I have updated to the Windows 10 anniversary edition my AirVPN client will be connected for 30 mins and then will disconnect. It will fail to reconnect during many attempts. I will need to close AirVPN and reboot my system for it to work again (but after 30/40 mins the same will happen). As a result of this I am forced to browse the web without my vpn. I followed the steps listed here : https://airvpn.org/topic/16573-tap-driver-9210-causing-a-myriad-of-issues/?p=46207 about changing the Media Status of the TAP network adapter to Always connected. I also tried downgrading and upgrading the TAP driver but neither seem to solve the issue. I believe it's a result of the anniversary update as it was working perfectly before. This evening I have formatted my system and done a fresh install of Windows 10 1607 and the same is still occurring. 17. Hello, For some reason I can't connect to the Netherlands servers or Sweden servers in AirVPN for Windows. They are showen as the fastest, but I can't connect to them. One Austrian works for me, but has a lower ping. Are the servers down, or is there a problem with my client?
  18. Hello, I connected for the first time successfully today running on mac. I cannot connect anymore (to any server), after shutting down the program after my first try. Every time I try it halts upon reaching the display 'Checking route'. After then it shows 'Disconnecting', and repeats the attempt to connect to a server ad infinitum. Attached are my logs, any ways to fix would be greatly appreciated. AirVPN_20160714_205013.txt
  19. Hello, I have been using AirVPN for about 4 months. Working fine. I had to recently format my main computer (due to graphics issue which is not relevant to this but the reason for wiping system). On the new build I have installed Bullguard Internet Security with firewall disabled. AirVPN connects automatically on start-up to windows and seems to be fine for 20/30 mins. then all of a sudden the speed will go to 0 up /0 down. It will be like this for a minute or two and then finally disconnect. It will also fail to reconnect which is a second problem. Most times I will need to restart the computer. 20. Hey Guys, So I've been getting this issue where the VPN is working great then suddenly just stops for apparent reason, I've included an image below as well as the logs. Even though they do not say 0 nothing loads. I've tried using 9.9.1 9.2.1 and 9.2.3 drivers none of them seem to make a difference. Any idea what is causing this? Logs are attached. The image below. 21. Hello all you AirVPN users. I have been getting disconnected from 3 different server a lot today. Servers are as fallows: 1: Alkes (USA, LA) 2: Merope (USA, LA) 3: Sabik (USA, LA) For some reason these servers keep getting taken offline due to high packet poss. Does anyone experience this issue and know why it is happening? 2 out of the 3 servers are down at the moment of this post. Alkes and Saik.
  22. Hi everyone I'm a new user to AirVPN and haven't used it for a week or so. When I was last using it, it ran absolutely perfectly, no trouble at all, in fact, I was playing an online game without even realising I was an a VPN, so full marks to AirVPN there! But...(always a but)... The last couple of days when I try and connect to the VPN it will connect and then drop connection after a couple of minutes, it'll try to re-establish connection and fail, which trips out my whole internet so I just have to exit the program. Can anyone provide any explaination as to what can be happening? I'm absolutely clueless! Also please note, I may be a little while replying with my first reply as my posts are still being moderator approved (I said I was new! ) Thanks guys!
  23. Hello everyone! When I requested a three-day trial of AirVPN's service in September 2013 I was testing a number of VPN clients (e.g. the Air client (which was the very bad condition client, not Eddie), OpenVPN GUI, Viscosity). I too searched the internet for methods to stop torrent programs from working - or at least to block their traffic - when the connection to a VPN breaks. There were some open source programs from SourceForge I tried out and some "commercial" programs I downloaded from TPB to test them out. Most of them simply terminate the processes of torrent clients and relaunch them when a VPN connection is reestablished. I used Viscosity first. Cool client, no problems, stable. But it costs $10. I was just about to purchase it because I didn't find anything better when I used DuckDuckGo again and found an even cooler client: SecurePoint SSL VPN SecurePoint is a german IT security company based in Lüneburg. It's therefore made in Germany. I don't know any user numbers, I just know that it's open source and somehow unknown to many of those using VPN services. In the pictures german localization is used. Don't panic! When you download and install the client, you can choose english as well. When you open the client, a small overview of your connections will be shown with one-click abilities to start your preconfigured profiles. To import a .ovpn file, click on the gear in the bottom right corner > Import. Select your .crypt or .ovpn file, set a profile name in Import as (filename or a name of your choice) and click import. Basically, you can now click on the left square of your new configuration and start the connection. That's it! Thank you for reading.. There are also the client settings which let you enable startup with Windows, add/delete TAP adapters, configure proxy and more. The contect menu of every connection will look like this. Quick Edit and Settings will open the configuration of your selected profile. If you need a GUI for changing the configuration, use Settings. Quick Edit will provide a small editor window in which you can manually edit the .ovpn file. Doing changes here will of course update the GUI version as well. The GUI settings will start with an option to autostart the selected profile after client launch and the abilities to rename the profile and delete stored authentication data (usernames/passwords). The Advanced button opens up the advanced settings (who knew?). As I wrote earlier, this is the GUI for configuring the .ovpn file, any change here will be written into the file itself. If you don't know what these do, I recommend to not touch any settings in General and OS tabs unless you are told to do so by someone here on the forums. Just take a look at the Scripts tab. The client will execute any file or command you enter here before/after connection and disconnection and when errors occur. As it was pointed out in this thread, this is a built-in feature of OpenVPN and therefore guaranteed to work (I mean, they will trigger; it's up to you if the command/file can actually be executed successfully, try it out first!). In client version 2 the Remote tab was introduced. It allows you to quickly enter more IPs you want the client to connect to. In the Advanced tab selecting Random host will cause the client to connect randomly to one of the IPs in the Remote list (and will, of course, update the .ovpn file accordingly). SecurePoint SSL-VPN is open source and can be found on GitHub. v2.0.15 uses OpenVPN v2.3.7 but all the binaries can be manually updated by just replacing them in the client's directory. You can download the client from SourceForge. In the past it was able to also freely download it from SecurePoint's servers, however, now a registration as a reseller is required. [h3]How to manually update used OpenVPN/SSL/LZO versions Download the newest installer for Windows, create a new directory on your desktop and let the installer copy the files into it. In the component selection of the installation, select OpenVPN User-Space Components only. Then you just copy openvpn.exe and all DLL files you see into the bin directory of Securepoint. Make sure to diconnect first since openvpn.exe is used. Then just reconnect and you will see that Securepoint uses new versions of OpenVPN and libraries. Thank you for reading!
  24. I'm not sure what the problem is. Every 5-10 minutes the VPN will disconnect and reconnect to a different server. I have made my DNS the airvpn ones and only use vpn when I use internet on this computer.
  25. Hi! I've been having some issues with establishing a continuous connection to servers using AirVPN. It has been working fine for some time but today the problems just seem to keep coming. Initially I got stuck at the "checking route" stage of the connection process, which I solved after a while by disabling the "Check if the tunnel effectively works" checkbox in preferences>advanced. Afterwards, I got to the "Checking DNS" stage but no further. I searched this forum a bit more and eventually bypassed the problem by disabling the "Check if the tunnel use AirVPN DNS" option. These two actions allowed me to connect to the server, but the connection keeps restarting every two minutes for some reason.
