Running AirVPN (latest client version) on Mac OS X El Capitan. Problem: When you have a current active VPN connection, and let's say the laptop goes to "sleep". When you resume the desktop, and attempt to reconnect AirVPN is not able to connect. You must reboot the system. This problem has been replicated on multiple OS X system setups.

Its getting stuck on checking route and just keeps trying each recommended server going down the list. Im running MAC OSX Sierra. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Everything seems to work fine when the network lock is not activated. Ive pasted the log below. Thank you in advance for any insigt.. I recently installed Eddie. But it's gray out on my desktop. Any reasons why?

It's my first day using AirVPN. I downloaded Eddie. After following the instructions on the website to use SSL tunneling I noticed that in protocols SSL is not an option. In fact there are no tunneling options just the different port options and alternative entry IP options. How do I get this to work? Using Mac OS X

I'm using Eddie on macOS Sierra which is running behind Sophos UTM 9.4 firewall. I'm not seeing any values for score or latency, I've already allowed ICMP on the firewall. I believe the firewall is blocking something which is preventing me from getting the latency and score values. I've tried bypassing the firewall and everything worked fine. Anyone have any experience with Sophos UTM?

Are there any advantages or disadvantages in removing the default gateway in Eddie (OSX)?

Hi, Every time I start up the AirVPN client on OS X, it prompts for admin credentials ("AirVPN wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."). My situation is such, that I need to launch AirVPN automatically and unintrusively on computer startup - without this dialog popping up every time. I've tried changing the owner of the app to root, and I've also tried an AppleScript as such: do shell script "sudo open -a /Applications/AirVPN.app" user name "User" password "PW" with administrator privileges but still no go, keeps asking for privileges. Is there a certain file that AirVPN is trying to modify that should perhaps be writable? Or how do I otherwise get around this? I've seen several similar threads on this forum, but so far no answer. This is crucial for me to keep using AirVPN service. If it is not possible, please let me know as well so I can look for a different solution. Thank you for your time!

Hello I have a question about the OSX Power Nap feature. Does the network lock work when Power Nap is enabled in osx? Or does the IP leak during a Power Nap?
-
Thank you in advance for assistance. Try as we may we are unable to access our local network with 'Network Lock' activated. We have tried countless suggestions gleaned from forum posts and elsewhere that simply have not worked. Our network a very simple home system and our goal to be able to access a Ready NAS attached to the network. We are running Eddie 2.10.3 with network lock set to OS X - PF on Mavericks 10.9.5. ifconfig posted below for reference in case the 'Addresses Allowed' protocol we are using is incorrect although we have tried every conceivable permutation to no avail. Currently set to 1.10.0.1.25 Regards, Seth Last login: Wed Jul 20 22:46:50 on console MacBook:~ ourmac$ ifconfig lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD> gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=10b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_HWTAGGING,AV> ether 3c:07:54:43:71:38 media: autoselect (none) status: inactive en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether b8: :12:37:17:8a inet 10.0.1.12 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.0.1.255 nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD> media: autoselect status: active fw0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 4078 lladdr a4:b1:97:ff:fe:a8:fb:de media: autoselect <full-duplex> status: inactive en2: flags=8822<BROADCAST,SMART,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=60<TSO4,TSO6> ether d2:00:1a:8f:bd:e0 media: autoselect <full-duplex> status: inactive bridge0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=63<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,TSO4,TSO6> ether 3e:07:54:34:2f:00 Configuration: id 0:0:0:0:0:0 priority 0 hellotime 0 fwddelay 0 maxage 0 holdcnt 0 proto stp maxaddr 100 timeout 1200 root id 0:0:0:0:0:0 priority 0 ifcost 0 port 0 ipfilter disabled flags 0x2 nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD> media: <unknown type> status: inactive p2p0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 2304 ether 0a: :12:37:17:8a media: autoselect status: inactive utun0: flags=8051<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.5.3.127 --> 10.5.3.127 netmask 0xffff0000 MacBook:~ ourmac

I've tried installing the OSX package installer on an OSX El Capitan machine. It installs fine, but once I run the client from applications, it asks for computer password (not the one for AirVPN), then accepts it and the icon on the task bar goes grey and is still running. But nothing else. The VPN client screen is no where to be found. I'm not actually under the VPN either. When are you guys planning on getting support for OSX - El Capitan?

Hello, I am having problems with the AirVPN client for Mac OSX. Every time that I put my computer in standby, and restoring, the app will never be able to reconnect again by itself. It tries to reconnect, but the process will always fail. After failure on one server it won't try any of the other servers in the Whitelist, insisting forever to try a connection to a server that doesn't work. Also, you should change the label of the button "Connect to a recommended server" with "Connect to the first server in alphabetic order"; if you get what I mean... Usually, after every standby/restore with no working reconnection, I have to proceed manually with - Cancelling the connection process - Logout - Login - Try to reconnect to a server But in the last days I am wasting so much time in performing connections. Things got worse. After the standby, no server will connect and I have to try so many of them, always proceeding with the steps mentioned above. I can say this is really annoying.I would like to solve this issues, because being able to not reconnect automatically is a huge security issue (at least for me) that does not suit with a Private VPN service (imho). Anyway my guess is that the issue is on the application, not with the servers themselves. Could you please help me to solve them? Or fix the client? Thank you

L.S, I have just started using AirVPN, and am not sure I completely understand how the network lock works. I think it is supposed to block the internet connection whenever AirVPN is disconnected. What I am not sure of is whether the internet connection will also be blocked after the AirVPN app is closed. Additionally, I am not sure what option to choose in the AirVPN menu: setting it to 'Automatic' does not seems to do anything, while setting it to 'OS X - PF' does seem to do what I expect it to do. I am on an iMac OSX 10.11.2 using the AirVPN app 2.10.3. Wil Dieteren

I would like to create a wireless hotspot using OSX Mavericks in order to share my VPN. I would be connecting a windows machine and iOS devices. I have chosen this route as I would like to be able to easily turn my wireless signal off when not needed and turn it on just as easily; something that my Airport Extreme is not capable of doing. From what I have gathered I cannot create a hotspot in the usual way when using OpenVPN as it results in a dead connection. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this using the OSX Eddie client software?

Disclaimer: "Pimp my.." is a reference to a once popular MTV show which centered on individuals submitting their vehicles with the goal of getting them optimized/upgraded. I'm not referring to sexual exploitation/slavery/trafficking or anything of the like. In the same spirit as that MTV show, I'm submitting my AirVPN log file to the kind folks of this community in case there is something in it which implies room for improvement. I have a 100 Mbps Comcast connection, a Docsis 3 modem (SB6141), an 802.11ac router (Asus AC68U) and my primary client is a MacBook with a 802.11 ac wireless adapter. I'm using the SSL port because it seems Comcast throttles the UDP ports on my connection. Anyhow, thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have to improve my vpn speeds. Thank you in advance for your assistance. We are not able access any LAN connections (NAS, Time Machine etc) while running the AirVPN client (2.9.2) or earlier iterations of Eddie on OS X 10.9.5. LAN access is blocked in the following circumstances: 1. Client server Eddie running with VPN connected (No LAN access) 2. Client server Eddie running with VPN disconnected with network lock ENABLED (No LAN access) 3. Client server Eddie running with VPN disconnected and with network lock DISABLED (No LAN access) The only way we have found to re-establish LAN access (even after quitting Eddie) is to toggle the OS X Firewall off and then on again. We suspect re-setting its ‘rules’ that were modified by the AirVPN client. Also while Eddie is disconnected from a VPN server but network setting is LOCKED we can access LAN only by switching OS X firewall off which leaves the system totally unprotected. Would you please explain how the AirVPN client can be configured so it does not handicap and prevent critical LAN functions both when connected to a AirVPN server or unconnected and network locked. We are aware of the setting ‘Allow pan/private’ in the network lock settings however this does not allow LAN connections on the three OS X systems we have tested. Best Regards, Sarah

Hi there, I'm running Eddie AirVpn Client software version 2.8. I configured airvpn with some local traffic white listed (both Outside the VPN tunnel - 192.168.0.0/16 and manually in network lock). However, I cannot get any local traffic to pass through.. Upon inspecting the pf rules, I see the following: sh-3.2# sudo pfctl -sr No ALTQ support in kernel ALTQ related functions disabled block drop out inet all pass out quick inet from 10.0.0.0/8 to 10.0.0.0/8 flags S/SA keep state pass out quick on utun0 inet from 10.0.0.0/8 to any flags S/SA keep state pass out quick inet from any to <__automatic_bb554c31_0> flags S/SA keep state pass out quick inet from 172.16.0.0/12 to 172.16.0.0/12 flags S/SA keep state pass quick on utun0 inet from any to 10.0.0.0/8 flags S/SA keep state pass quick on lo0 all flags S/SA keep state It does not look like the 192.168.0.0 rule is there... However, The generated temp file in ~/.airvpn/1c1d81cef74e0d65fd179c59ad525579da19fc6d5e4142dbed5a8efd55b1041d.tmp.pf.conf correctly generates the rules: ... .... # Private networks pass out quick inet from 192.168.0.0/16 to 192.168.0.0/16 flags S/SA keep state pass out quick inet from 172.16.0.0/12 to 172.16.0.0/12 flags S/SA keep state pass out quick inet from 10.0.0.0/8 to 10.0.0.0/8 flags S/SA keep state # Allow all on lo0 pass quick on lo0 all # Everything tunneled pass out quick on utun0 inet from 10.0.0.0/8 to any flags S/SA keep state pass quick on utun0 inet from any to 10.0.0.0/8 flags S/SA keep state Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I would like to access AirVPN through the command line on my Mac (OSX). Is this possible? Is there a command line interface (CLI)? Do I need to install OpenVPN first? Thank you.

Hi, I'm using Tunnelblick with OSX 10.4.11 on an old Mac G4 to connect via Vuse. Everything has worked fine for many months but now a problem has cropped up. I can connect to any server and the connection is OK for about 6-8 hours, then Tunnelblick consistently displays "Authorizing" instead of "Connected" status, even though an IP check appears to show that it's still connected. How can I fix this? ...Thanks.

Hi All I'm in need of some clarification in regards to my proxy setup. What's the difference between setting up proxy on the osx network interface(and connecting via airvpn udp/tcp 443) vs. using airvpn config with proxy?. My current setup is I use a proxy on osx network interface(http port 8080) and connecting via airvpn server(udp 443). I have managed to meet my objectives which are to unblock certain websites and faster http file sharing downloads via download manager(e.g uploaded). Is my setup correct, anonymous and secure?. What's the difference when using the config-with-proxy (airvpn) because when I check my ip, it's the airvpn exit node and not of the proxy. I have a download manager that only mainly relies on osx main proxy interface( the app needs password authentification for proxy unlike a browser's setup), so, so far my current setup allows me to meet my objectives. Hope to get more clarification on this. Thanks a mill'!

Hello! We're glad to announce that we are working on a new AirVPN Client, that will be available for Windows, Linux, OS X and maybe (lower priority) for Android and iOS. The objective is a user-friendly graphical wrapper that installs, upgrades, configures and manages the necessary third-party software (including OpenVPN software, TUN/TAP drivers, DNS scripts, etc) for as many platforms as possible. Our AirVPN Client 2.0 (codename Eddie) will be released under GPL, and of course needs to be bundled only with Open Source third-party software. We are doing some platform tests, to collect the necessary things to be bundled in our future client. We wish to share with the community our work in progress. --------------------------- OS X Experimental package: https://airvpn.org/repository/experimental/osx.tar.gz It contains a file "tuntap.pkg", a kext driver TUN/TAP package, which needs to be installed. Derived from this project: http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/ Hold down the CTRL button and click on the "tuntap.pkg". You should now see a contextual menu appear where you will need to click on the Open option. Without the "CTRL", OS X Gatekeeper hides the "Open" item because it's an untrusted (for Apple) source. Our package contains also a binary build of OpenVPN 2.3.1. It runs without dependencies on Mountain Lion, currently untested in previous OS X version. Download our .ovpn configuration files from our generator and put them at the same level of "openvpn". Launch with: sudo ./openvpn myconfig.ovpn Known caveat: - By default, navigation does not work. There are issues with DNS. We tested different up-down scripts, without a definitive solution until now: many scripts are too old for Mountain Lion (our testing platform), or too-specific to third-party tools (ex. Tunnelblick scripts). As an effective workaround, at the moment you can list your services with: networksetup -listallnetworkservicesand launch sudo networksetup -setdnsservers <service_name> 10.4.0.1 8.8.8.8for example sudo networksetup -setdnsservers Ethernet 10.4.0.1 8.8.8.8to permanently set our internal VPN DNS as primary nameserver, and Google DNS as secondary server. If you can send a feedback, it will be more than welcome. Please remember to specify your exact OS version. Kind regards

Hello! These instructions describe how to build Stunnel on OS X. Go to https://www.stunnel.org/downloads.html and download stunnel-4.54.tar.gz and stunnel-4.54.tar.gz.sha256. Open a terminal from Utilities => Terminal. Terminal is case sensitive, before you do something think twice before you press RETURN - there is no undo or redo in terminal. Each line is one line in terminal and you need to press RETURN at the end of the line. cd $HOME/Downloads openssl dgst -sha256 stunnel-4.54.tar.gz more stunnel-4.54.tar.gz.sha256 Compare the output of the last 2 lines - if it matches all is fine, if not you had a security problem during download. tar -xzvf stunnel-4.54.tar.gz cd stunnel-4.54 ./configure && make && make check && sudo make install The configure script uses autoconf, so put your fingers away from other options because if all is there and supported it will build a fine 64 bit app for you. make check is optional. "sudo make install" requires your root (administrator) password. During this step you have to input some basic informations (self explaining). The && is used to run commands after each other ONLY if the previous was successful. Once everything is done your stunnel app will be installed in /usr/local/bin. Note: - To avoid /usr/lib/libwrap.7.dylib dependencies (not available on fresh Mountain Lion), use ./configure --disable-libwrap Kind regards AirVPN Support Team --- Thanks to NaWi at Mac, guide from this topic on stackexchange.com
