  1. So far I am using VPN to download/upload torrents to private tracker. As soon as the AirVPN loses connenction for whatever reason, I have enabled the mechanism that shuts down the network to my macbook. Furthermore, I have confirured Vuze to start only when tun0 interface is available. I see also, that there are some people using proxy servers and TOR network, would this be benefitial from anonimity side of things in my case or not? I would like some links or discussion based on the topic's title Thanks

  5. Hi all, Since upgrading to Windows 10 there is a build-in feature to use a VPN. Had any of you had any luck configuring it? I would like to use the VPN when it's needed and just browse on my normal connection when it's turned off. The browsing speeds were horrible on windows 7 and I had to turn it off everytime and changing the dns to be able to enjoy my 100mbit browsing experience and not a 33k6. Any help/input is appreciated!
  6. Hi all new here and newish to VPN's (used Hide my Ass many moons ago, mistake I know lol) Anyways just looking for some help/advice on the best way to use Airvpn. I'm currently running the AirVPN client with network lock enabled (on 1 laptop 1 pc using SSH on port 22) and was considering using OpenVPN client instead. I have a few questions i would like answered before hand however such as. how easy it is to set up? pro and cons? will I need to download comodo and implement the firewall blocks that are mentioned in the how to? also regarding the use of SSH is there any advantages to it over using UDP or TCP security wise? As my ISP does no traffic management or shaping to these. what do you think is the best or most secure way thanks in advance for any help or insight you may have

  9. Hello all, this is a question I am struggling to phrase in a google search, therefore I cannot find an answer. Recently thinking about the Tor network it occured to me that in the case of a VPN, the Exit server is presumably the server that decrypts the traffic? Am I wrong on that? If not, then wouldn't that mean that VPN traffic could pass overseas unencrypted. For example: If i was to want to access facebook.com (US based) from here in the UK, the connection (encryped) would go Me>ISP>VPNSERVER>FACEBOOK So my question, perhaps a silly one, is: Is the internet traffic between the Exit server encrypted? If not, are we all at risk by not using a VPN exit server that is based in the same country as the server we are trying to access? Because otherwise I draw the conclusion that we are sending unencrypted internet traffic over the international fibre cables that are all heavily monitored. Thanks in advance
  10. I recently bought an Asus router RT-AC68U to flash Tomato firmware as AirVPN offers a config generation for this. I had a few issues with that and noticed that Asus supports OpenVPN from scratch. I've tried it and it works flawless, no tomato is needed. Difficulty: Very low Time: 2 Minutes Prerequisite: - Asus Router (in my case it's a RT-AC68U but it should work for all asus routers that have OpenVPN support) Steps: 1. Browse to https://airvpn.org/generator/ and select 'Router or others' and choose a server you like. Tick on 'Direct, protocol UDP, port 443' and click on 'Generate'. Save this openvpn config file anywhere on your computer. 2. Open the asus router webinterface and click on 'VPN'. Click on 'Add profile', choose OpenVPN. Enter a description, leave username and password EMPTY. Click on 'Browse' and select the downloaded openvpn config file. Click on upload. Click on OK. That's it now you can click on connect. 3. Visit https://ipleak.net and check if it works. By default I have no dns leak. But in case you have you can setup the AirVPN DNS this way: 3b. Click on WAN tab. Turn DNS server off and enter either google's DNS 8.8.8.8 or AirVPN's DNS 10.4.0.1 or both as in the screenshot. That's it. Every client which is connected to the router now is secured by VPN.
  11. Hi guys. Any chance we could please get the BBC Sports coverage of Wimbledon working on all of the VPN's, not just the UK ones? Cheers.
  12. Hi, I started experimenting with AirVpn om my Android smartphone. The setup is the first I start Orbot, second AirVpn (UDP-443) and last but not least Orweb. Everything seems to be working and IP Chicken shows me a nice Ip adress. I want to apologize for my ignorance, but is this a good anonymous setup and how can I check that the VPN is going through Orbot? Kind regards,
  13. Using Ubuntu MATE 15.04 Trying to add Airvpn to my connection. I followed the instructions and have tried UDP and TCP and get this error:
  14. ok, using Ubuntu 14.04, Thunderbird, VPN through Network manager. Unable to connect to my outgoing mail server. smtp.secureserver.net / 68.178.213.37 port 465 SSL/TLS . I am unable to connect to it while on VPN (Blocked I assume), turn off VPN and I have no problem. This also seems to be the only port they offer. Is there a way to add to the settings that anything going to this address to bypass VPN via the iptables and if so how. Tried a few settings and still doesnt work. Or do I need to add a additional Netcard?
  15. Hi. I have recently commenced using AirVPN, and I must commend you for having one of the most accessible pieces of software I've ever seen for users who are fully blind or vision impaired. One issue I've encountered is that I'm not able to access the button or icon that I need to click in order to get to the advanced settings area. It would be great if this could be addressed, as it's proving frustrating to get to the advanced features of this fabulous software package. Otherwise, I'm very happy with your speeds from Australia and it's great that you offer the ability for users to be able to download the files necessary to use your service with Viscosity or any other open VPN client. Cheers.
  16. Hello, I am using a Blackberry Passport and would like to connect to AirVPN using an SSH tunnel. The options look like the picture below. Where can I find the information to fill this in? If it's not possible with the BB options, does anyone know of reliable open-source software for the Blackberry Passport that support the VPN SSH tunnel. My knowledge is still limited with all this, but learning. Thanks!
  17. hi there, I have technical issues with skype video calls always when connected over an airvpn server. the connection establishes and I have a couple of moments before the connection freezes and skype goes into re-connection mode. During this time I also cannot browse other internet sites (seems the connection is re-configuring or something). When not surfing over the vpn I don't have these problems. I am using: win7 64bit latest skype version openvpn 2.3.6 comodo firewall (configured as you described) does it have anything to do with certain ports or something? cheers
  18. Hi Anyone know how to set-up the VPN with the Wii U?
  19. I tried from different AirVPN servers (some NL, Sweden, FR and others) to visit wiki.debian.org but it says: ForbiddenYou are not allowed to access this! ---- It opens when I try it without AirVPN... also it opens via TOR...
  20. Hey, After logging in I used to be able to connect to any of the servers. I would select TCP over port 443 to connect. But recently the version of the client I have stopped working. When I try to log in it says "The client is obsolete and no longer supported". So I went and downloaded the latest version. I can log in fine and see the server list, but I can't connect to any of them. I keep getting an "Checking info 1, 2, 3... unable to connect to the remote host error". It then keeps doing this over and over trying to connect. I have tried to connect with many servers and always get the same result.
  21. Hello, I just bought a subscription and loaded up the software to find I can't log in! So I am getting an error that says "Cannot receive systems & server data. Please retry later or contact us for help. (The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.) I just want to get this ironed out. Any help?
  22. Hello everyone, I have AirVPN installed on a second desktop of mine, and I'm having an odd problem with it. I can connect to AirVPN servers fine and get acceptable speeds, however, when I shut down the VPN, I can no longer connect to the internet. So, I need to be connected to some VPN server to be able to connect to the internet. I suspect this is due to a bug with the Network Lock feature, which I'm using on both desktops (one of which is not having any problems). Both desktops are connected to the save network via Ethernet cable. I tried disabling network lock on the afflicted desktop, but had no results. I also tried uninstalling AirVPN (and restarting the PC), which also did not help. Is this a known bug, or perhaps something entirely different? I tried searching online for a solution, but all I get are threads about people not being able to connect with a VPN, not without. Thanks in advance!
  23. I am running the following system: Raspberry pi 2 with ArchLinux Arm Kernel 3.18Provider Down/Up Speeds: 70/10 MbitI can maxout Up and Down speed without VPNIf I use my laptop (Manjaro linux) i can maxout the connection even behind the VPN, so this is not provider traffic shapingWhen using the VPN the following happens I try to to download anything using a single connection (for instance using "aria2c -x 1 -o /dev/null download_url") my top speed is going to be ~150KB/s with negligible cpu load.I try to the same thing using multiple connection (for instance using "aria2c -x 10 -o /dev/null download_url") my top speed is going to be ~600KB/s, and in both case cpu load from openvpn is about 30%, so this is not a cpu issue. If try to download a single torrent (extremely well seeded) I reach even better speeds (~1.5MB/s), with about 50% cpu load from the openvpn process. The only way to maxout the cpu and the download speed is to download several well seeded torrents at once (so a lot of connections I believe), getting 3MB/s (the expected cpu limit) with 100% cpu load.I can't say what is going on, but apparently it looks like that a "single" connection is going slow (maybe for some faulty network configuration?) and the only way to saturate the speed is to use several connections at once. Is anyone able to give any help? Best
  24. Hello everyone, I purchased AirVPN recently to keep my torrent traffic private, and am just now getting around to putting it to use. However, I'm getting some extremely slow speeds, or rather no speed at all. I'm using the AirVPN client and letting it connect to a recommended server, but consistently get 0 B/s (Yes, that's B/s) download and upload. It will occasionally jump to ~100 B/s, or even ~100 KB/s, but drops back to 0 B/s shortly after. I also took the speed test on this website which gave the following results: Down: 0.477 Mbit/s Out, 0.470 Mbit/s In (98%), 1MB - Up: 0.382 Mbit/s Out, 0.322 Mbit/s In (84%), 1MB - Date: Tue, 31 Mar 2015 19:28:09 GMT - Buffers: 1MB/1MB - Laps: 3, Time: 325.56 secs Not quite 0 B/s like the AirVPN client says, but still unacceptably slow considering I get around 50-60 Mbits/s download and upload (Verizon) when not connected to the VPN. I'm a total greenhorn when it comes to just about anything networking, and assume I messed something up when trying to configure the VPN with my torrent client (Deluge), so I'm just going to go into what exactly I've done so far and then maybe someone here can give me some guidance. First, I followed the P2P optimization guide found here: https://airvpn.org/faq/p2p/ In the end, my settings look like this: http://i.imgur.com/SnGiGJ9.png Which looks correct to me, for whats its worth. Second, I setup Windows firewall rules to block Deluge's connection in the event that the VPN unexpectedly disconnects, or I forget to turn it on or something. I did so following this guide: https://vpn.ac/knowledgebase/55/Windows-Firewall-rules-to-block-P2PorTorrent-traffic-if-VPN-disconnects.html I tested to make sure it works with the little speed I have and it does seem to work. I'll get a few KB/s while connected to the VPN, and it will stop or start back up when I disconnect and reconnect to the VPN respectively. Aside from those two things, I've done nothing else, and don't even know if there is still more I need to do aside from those two things. I'm hoping the pros here can point me in the right direction because what I've tried to find out on my own so far has been fruitless. Thanks in advance!
