  1. Hello! You can set firewall specific program rules to prevent Firefox to send out packets when the VPN is not connected. We recommend not to use programs, like VPNetMonitor, which forcefully kill applications if they detect a disconnection from the VPN. The drop detection time and the shutdown time allow the application to leak packets anyway, in addition to the usual problems of a forced kill. A link that may help you: https://airvpn.org/specs We are studying an effective but simple system to prevent once and for all any leak (accidental disconnection, DNS leak) without the barbarian and ineffective system to force applications kill. In the meantime, if you need assistance with your firewall please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind regards
  2. Hello! All the servers are up and running. Most probably you did not subscribe to any plan. Please see here: https://airvpn.org/plans You can check anytime the VPN servers status with our real time servers monitor: https://airvpn.org/status Do not hesitate to contact us for any further information or support. Kind regards
  3. Hello! ReCaptcha is no more required after an account has written 2 messages. It is just an anti-spambot precaution. Kind regards
  4. Hello! You can do it at the expiration of the plan. However, you might pick a recurring plan anyway, because you can revert a recurring plan to a not-recurring one anytime before the expiration date by deleting the recurring payment from within your PayPal account (recurring plans are not available for Bitcoin and Liberty Reserve). Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information. Kind regards
  5. Hello! Free access is identical to premium access. There are no free servers, a free account is a premium account and accesses the same VPN servers of premium accounts. Free accounts are reserved to activists living in freedom of expression hostile countries, while free access for 4 days is a "trial" access which must be requested to us. Kind regards
  6. Hello! We're very glad to inform you that new important and improved features have been added to our system. New Remote Port Forwarding System Please see https://airvpn.org/faq/#port_forwarding for a general explanation on Remote Port Forwarding. For each port, now the system lets you choose to forward it for TCP only, UDP only or both TCP and UDP. You can now map any local port to any remotely forwarded port. This is useful for a variety of cases, for example if your service listens to a port lower than 2048 or to an already reserved port. A security check has been implemented. It will start when your account connects. Additionally, you can force it to start by clicking on "Check". Please note that this feature can be used only if you are connected to a VPN server AND you are logged in the website with the same account. The system will perform the following tests: 1) if your service is reachable on the forwarded port on the VPN server IP address; 2) if your service is reachable on the local port mapped to the forwarded port on your real IP; 3) if your service is reachable on the forwarded port on your real IP address. If test 1 fails, you will see a grey token (your service can't be reached, you might want to check whether it is running and listening on the correct port). If tests 1 and 2 succeed and test 3 fails, you will see a yellow token (your service is reachable on the local mapped port on your real IP address). If tests 1, 2 and 3 succeed, you will see a red token (your system is exposed to correlation attacks). If this happens, it means that you have forwarded on your router/firewall the same port you have remotely forwarded on the VPN server, and that there's a service listening to that port. Please close that port on your router/firewall to prevent correlation attacks. Your service must be reachable on that port ONLY on the VPN server IP address. If test 1 succeeds and test 2 and test 3 fail, you will see a green token (your service is reachable, security is not compromised). New option to enable, disable and delete statistics Now you can enable, disable and delete your sessions statistics (sent and received bytes, connection time and dates). Please note that even though you enable this option, your real IP address will NOT be stored in the statistics anyway. Enabling statistics is meant merely as a commodity. Improved servers status monitor Now the servers status will display also an approximate latency time from your device to each VPN server. Please note that in order to see this new feature, you have to be a logged in as a premium member. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information. Kind regards
  7. Hello! Can you please test whether your firewall blocks browsers? Maybe it allows those browser to send and receive packets only through your LAN or WiFi adapter, blocking the browsers on the TUN/TAP interface (networks are different, we have sometimes experienced this problem with some applications and the Windows 7 firewall). This is not very likely, since all the other applications of yours work, anyway it's an attempt that's worth to do since it will take you just a few seconds. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  8. Hello! Good, so it appears to be a browser-related issue. Which browsers have you tested? Is their behaviour the same? Kind regards
  9. Hello! Can you please tell us where and when you obtain this error? If possible, could you please describe all the steps you perform to cause the error? We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  10. Hello! The logs look just fine. When you say that your browser "barely" connects to web sites, do you mean that sometimes it connects and sometimes not, or that domain names are never resolved? Can you please ascertain if DNS resolution is performed properly or not? To do that, you can for example run "ping www.google.com" and see what happens. Since your torrent client works fine, it is highly likely that this is a DNS issue. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  11. Hello! It looks like a DNS resolution problem. Please verify that your DHCP client service is active and running. Find it in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services. Its name is "DHCP Client". Set it to "Automatic Start" and "Start" it too, if it's not running. Also, check your DNS. Make sure that either your system obtains DNS servers automatically, or it uses AirVPN's DNS servers or publicly accessible DNS servers (here a guide to change DNS on Windows Vista: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-TCP-IP-settings). See here to see the VPN internal DNS server IP address according to the port you connect to: https://airvpn.org/specs If a setup with "Obtain DNS servers automatically" still does not work for you, try to set the primary DNS to 10.*.*.* (according to the port OpenVPN uses, for example for 443 UDP set it to 10.4.0.1) and the secondary to any public DNS server available. Finally, please send us the connection logs. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  12. Hello! We migrated the system two days ago and re-organized links. The new link is: https://airvpn.org/direct_access Kind regards
  13. At 22 Feb 2012 22.30 CET server Lyra (Netherlands) suddenly stopped working. The problem is in the switch which is no more working. Technicians in the datacenter are investigating. We will keep you posted. Kind regards AirVPN admins [EDIT 23 Feb 2012 02:02 CET] The issue has been solved. The switch was broken. Replacement of the switch in the rack solved the issue. Kind regards
  14. Hello! You need a router that supports OpenVPN. Routers where you can flash the DD-WRT firmware with OpenVPN support, for example. For a list of compatible routers, please see the FAQ. For a tutorial on how to setup it for AirVPN (thanks to Nick for the excellent tutorial), please see: https://airvpn.org/ddwrt Kind regards
  15. Hello! You can't access the configuration generator because your account is not on premium status. You should subscribe first. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information Kind regards
  16. Hello! Can you please describe which options you pick (server, port, proxy), so that we can reproduce the error? We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  17. Hello! The problem has been fixed. Let us know if everything is all right now. Kind regards
  18. Hello! We are looking into the issue right now. We will keep you posted. Kind regards
  19. Hello! It looks like the configuration generator works just fine. Can you please tell us when and where you obtain an "internal error" page? If you click the following link (while you are logged in), does it open the configuration generator page? https://airvpn.org/direct_access/ Kind regards
  20. Hello! [EDIT] Please note that the account "tetsuia" is not authorized to access the VPN servers, as it is not subscribed to any plan. If you are trying to connect with the key of that account, this is the reason for which the connection fails. Ignore this message if you're trying to connect with a premium account. About the first part of the log, please see this known issue (from the Tunnelblick wiki http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/wiki/cKnown) and uncheck "Monitor connection" to see whether it solves the problem. In the second part, though, there seems to be a problem with 127.0.0.1:1080 (see 6:29 [...] Connection refused [...]), was your local tunnel active? The first disconnection might have been caused by your 'SSH tunnel' going down, not by a Tunnelblick fault. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  21. @tetsuia Hello! When you connect without TOR, is everything ok? Can you please send us the connection logs both with and without socks proxy? Kind regards
  22. Hello! We changed certificates, but we did it more than 4 months ago (approx. 10 months ago). Anyway, glad to know that the problem is solved! Kind regards
  23. @odamra Just one more thing: if you need to completely reset your Tunneblick setup with AirVPN, you can follow the instructions here: https://airvpn.org/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=3&id=1559&limit=6&limitstart=6&Itemid=142#1571 Kind regards
  24. Hello! Open Tunnelblick, locate "VPN Details..." window, then click the "gear" button at the bottom of the list and select "Edit OpenVPN Configuration File…". That will open the installed OpenVPN configuration file in TextEdit. Changes take effect as soon as the file is saved in TextEdit. Note that this does not modify your original .tblk; it modifies the installed copy only. When the TextEdit show your configuration file, locate the line that begins with "remote", it will appear like: remote a.b.c.d <portnumber> For example, to connect to Draconis server on port 80: remote 178.248.29.132 80 Changing will change the connection port. Valid connection ports are 53, 80 and 443. Then, locate the line "proto " and change (if necessary) it to: proto tcp Save and try again to connect. Useful link: http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/wiki/cConfigT#Modifying_a_Tunnelblick_VPN_Configuration We're looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards
  25. Hello! A reboot should not be necessary. It looks more like a crash than a simple disconnection. Are you using the latest version of the client (1.6)? Can you please tell us your OS version? If your computer keeps requiring reboots, please try to connect directly with OpenVPN GUI and see if you need rebooting or not. Kind regards
