  1. I am as frustrated as hell!! Where for Heavens' sake is the eddie 2.11.beta.deb to download??? I am not at all interested in compliling anything - I just want to download a working airvpn client and use it on my ubuntu 16.04

Is this an unreasonable request.. I mean not everybody is a linux wizz and developer and so on .. I am just a 67y.o disabled war veteran trying to use my computer with less "being messed around with!" IE using a vpn.. I have paid for it and I need a client. So WTF is the *deb to download and use with ubuntu 16.04??

<Excuse me being a little annoyed - I just don't intend to spend another 2 weeks looking for this *.deb  !!??>

where have you looked?  did you try the "enter" tab?

  2. Thanks guys! I think my iptables rules and port forwarding are working now. I am still unable to resolve the issue with accessing my host website both internal or external. On the Macmini server (host) and any other devices at home, I received the following: Problem loading page. and "unable to connect" message.

When I attempt to ping the website URL, it displayed the IP: 103.254.153.99 and no time out. It pinged good. My local website IP is 192.168.130...? Maybe some router settings and/or firewall but still do not know where to look ,,,

look in your router settings for the NAT loopback option and change that to see if you can get things working better.  you should have a merlin and an asus option.

If the port checker that AirVPN has built into your port forwarding page (this web site) has a green light then you should be good to go.

Private Tunnel sits in USA and definetly HAS TO LOG by LAW!

You can be sure NSA has you data there...

    regards,

    me

uhh..no.  There is no mandatory logging law in the USA for VPN providers.

    Hello!

I can't remember who mentioned it on the forums, but the gist of it was that they do seem to have laws that would permit or perhaps even require some kind of logging and/or access to data.

  4. Hi I need help getting connected on my iphone with ssl or ssh

I have followed the steps on this page https://airvpn.org/ios/

it connects but I dont have access to the net.

Im connecting from china so ssl or ssh is needed

    thanks in advance

if jailbroken you should be able to do either type after installing stunnel or openssh and a terminal app for command line.

  5. The prerouting lines needed are missing.

    https://airvpn.org/topic/9270-how-to-forward-ports-in-dd-wrt-tomato-with-iptables/?hl=%2Bport+%2Bforward+%2Btomato

that is the pattern you need to use, changing things to suit your machine and setup.

make sure you have the tun device number set correct, etc.

    The lines

    iptables -I FORWARD -i br0 -o tun11 -j ACCEPT
    iptables -I FORWARD -i tun11 -o br0 -j ACCEPT
    iptables -I FORWARD -i br0 -o vlan1 -j DROP

are probably not needed if you're using the automatic firewall setting in the openvpn client of Merlin Asus.  They might be a hindrance so test with and without them once you get the actual port forwarding rules correct.

  6.

    smartphone <--> internet <- no-ip ddns service -> vodafone station <- portforwarding --> osx

this is my configuration, i would like to wake up my osx

what device at your home is the openvpn client??  it's apparently not the osx machine as it's asleep.

I have vodafone router with this vpn feature:

    - IPSec, Client PPTP, Client L2TP, Server L2TP, Server PPTP

your router needs to support openvpn for it to work as a client of AirVPN.

  7. If you're using Merlin asus the openvpn client has an automatic firewall setting already.  So, all you need to input are the port forwarding rules, none of the firewall rules.

there was another user having a similar problem with port forwarding not working until he/she stopped adding the extra firewall rules.

  8. Thanks giganerd,

That seems logical, how can 1 ip represent the best server route at any given time. (that's not a question, that is me wrapping my head around this)

So for those that choose to go through airvpn.org tunnel through their router we should perhaps choose a good server connection and maybe create some simple procedures to change that ip when and if we choose?

One more question for clarity, when we resolve the ip addresses for a country, continent, etc are they in order of latency? Best to worst?

    Thanks for your helpful input.

    1) it'll never know the best "route".  It just gives you the best server at the time based on load.

    2) to change servers all you have to do is change the remote server IP address and save the settings.  at least that's the way it is with asus routers.  so no procedure needed.

  9.

You will still need a port forwarding capable router for that. Then forward any port with AirVPN, and forward

this port to your local LAN IP of the machine you wish to wake up, to UDP port 7.

i have to manually portforwarding all port or only port used by AirVPN?

hi, i have my lan behind vodafone revolution router with no support for broadcasting magic packet feature so "wake on lan" app not work outside my lan. I would like to wake up my osx from internet so some suggest me to get information about airvpn. So is it possible to wake up my osx from outside using an airvpn configuration?

what device is your openvpn client?

    P8 Lite android smartphone

only need to forward ports on the router if the router itself is the openvpn client.

but now you say your phone is your openvpn client.  weren't you wanting to wake up an osx machine?

  10. I wonder if AirVPN will not have to rethink their allocation of forwarded ports, then.

The IP port range is 0 to 65536. And 0 to 2047 are restricted. So that is 63,489 ports available. If everyone takes their 20 maximum, the supply runs out at 3,174.45 users.

They may have to reduce the number each of us can have. Could we sell back the ones we have for discounts?

Or opt for a scheme where each port is only good for certain servers, which the user may select per port, to a maximum number per port. This would be a bit of a software development project. And it would make things more complicated for those who run services requiring forwarded ports.

I'm thinking most people don't reserve any ports so I don't think it's near being a problem yet.

  11.

I would love to see the ability to purchase more connections! as 3 is not enough and having to manage more than one account under a different email is a pain. Why not take an approach like TorGuard? who allow you to add more connections to your account for $1 a month for example.

This is the only thing holding me back from purchasing AIR as my main VPN.

Wouldn't a lot of people like to have more connections available to them through AirVPN, by their simply paying a bit more on their present account? 3 sessions/account, max, can be too low for some, I would think.

    -- grok.

people just need to use (dedicated device that acts as router/gateway/firewall for local network) as their openvpn client then.

  12.

Air does provide one address that represents all of a continent.  no need to do the remote-random far as I know.

    europe.vpn.airdns.org is 213.152.161.29

    america.vpn.airdns.org is 184.75.223.194

    asia.vpn.airdns.org is 103.254.153.68

xy.vpn.airdns.org points to the current best server of area xy. You will see that 213.152.161.29 is one of the NL servers, being the best at the time you ran dig or nslookup.

well that's too bad.  I didn't cross reference with server entry IPs, my mistake.  Using the domain name is still helpful so long as DNS resolution is possible.

edit: resolving these domains gives the best individual server at the time of the lookup.  this is still useful if DNS resolution is possible as your openvpn client connects.

  15.

    I already turn off NoScript

Just turned off JavaScript blocking or completely disabled it? Because NoScript's protective features like ABE, ClearClick and others can work on their own with JavaScript blocking turned off.

    I only allow airvpn.org..

But why don't I have really have this ? Is the VPN test or my real connection ?

Try other servers, ports and/or protocols.

OK, thank you, i just try a few port (in 4 days i have try many servers with all the time same slow speed).

Do i have to disconnect/connect after i change ports or protocols ?

AirVPN speed test may use another domain other than airvpn.org.  Only allowing airvpn.org may not be enough for the speed test to work.

yes, you must disconnect and reconnect to begin using a different port/protocol.

  16. I am really interested to buy the VPN for one year but, I need to confirm that the Port forwarding is working or not.

All I Want to do is to open some ports not to create servers but to play online with the lowest ping possible without lag. Just tell me please what I need to do in the AirVPN client area-->forwarded ports section and how I can confirm that the ports are open or not? Thanks again for any help.

port forwarding works just fine but for specific details on how to use a VPN in conjunction with steam maybe some steam forums have the info you need.

is there a central steam server that tells other steam clients how your client can be reached?
