When I'm using Eddie and connected to SG servers, the upload speed always gets throttled and it is very slow. It only happens when it is an inbound connection, as I don't see any problem when I'm checking using speedtest.net (as it is an outbound connection). So I've been using "copyparty", a tool to easily create a "file server" and then host it. I use it to measure the upload speed I get when connected to AirVPN and port forwarded to my :80 port. I use another laptop to download something from my my machine that's connected to AirVPN Singapore server, and each file download it is always throttled to around 100-300KBps. So it's not the "overall speed become 100-300KBps", but rather, it is throttled "for each connection". So basically I can download 5-10 files simultaneously but with only 3 Mbps speed for each file. My internet has 50 Mbps upload link speed, so I know it wasn't it. This only happens with Singapore servers, as I've tried the same with Japan server and it's fine, I can see the speed doesn't get throttled, and it gets the full 50 Mbps upload speed. What happen with Singapore server? Why does the upload seems to get throttled when it is an inbound connection, and I've observed that it's being throttled for each connection?

Hello, I have been using AirVPN for quite some time now... I was previously using the Eddie client on a single machine, but decided to build a PFSense box and configure the VPN there. I am located in Canada, and setting a connection to a single VPN server in Toronto. It seems to give the best connection and reliability rather then going for the ca.airvpn (I seem to always end up at a BC server using this entry) My issue is.... I currently have a 150mbps connection with my ISP. Using PFSense without AirVPN I am able to reach my advertised speeds With AirVPN configured, I am only ever seeing a max of about 30mbps. My hardware setup is quite decent. Intel® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz 4gb DDR3 memory120gb SSD2 Intel NICs (both showing as igb) My speeds using Eddie were very very good, much better then the PFSense speeds; so I can only assume that I have a configuration error (my hardware seems to be quite good from what I have been reading) Some research from other posts did not help better my issue, so I am hoping that posting my own thread on this topic can being me closer to a conclusion with mine. I followed the guide by "pfSense_fan"https://airvpn.org/topic/17444-how-to-set-up-pfsense-23-for-airvpn/ I can post any diagnostics or logs as necessary, I just do not know what you guys would like to see. Any help with this would be appreactiated Regards

Hi, My Mullvad expired and since they removed their port forwarding feature, I decided to try AirVPN. I have a linux mint machine with qbittorrent-nox installed on a 1Gbps/1Gbps fiber connection with a Pfsense router. With Mullvad when they had port forwarding, I used to get an average of 400mbps down and 250mbps up when torrenting linux isos. Without port forwarding my upload was more around 60mbps. With AirVPN, I get an average of 25/20mbps. The max I managed to get was 56mbps down with only a really high seed count torrent and no seeding. When I speed test I get pretty good results: 450/350mbps. It's the torrenting part that atrocious. The speeds mentioned above are when I use Wireguard. I tried OVPN with UDP and TCP. Both yield pretty much the same results: 25/20mbps while torrenting and 120/100 mbps for speed tests. I tried multiple servers in Toronto, Montreal and the US East Coast. The numbers above are from the best results I managed to obtain the rest are worst. I tried using Eddie and using Wireguard directly, but there was no measurable difference. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it. I still have 2 days out of the 3 days subscription to see if I can fix it. Thank you

Greetings all, it's been noted in recent months that using Air VPN in the UAE has become more difficult. Currently only encapsulated sessions using SSL or SSH work, although there seems to be some DPI taking place that is allowing the ISPs to throttle traffic. Has anyone else had this issue and addressed it?

I have cellular broadband through AT&T 4G LTE and a 50 GB limit at which point i'm not throttled, just deprioritized. When I am still within my limit I can get up to 29 Mbps, and after my limit I can get 6 to 9 Mbps depending on tower traffic even through vpn connections. I always connect to a Canada server from Michigan, but whenever I try to watch movies on Kodi I can barely get 1-2 Mbps. Is there anything that I can suggest to fix this problem? Maybe SSL or SSH or a specific settings change like ports, protocol, DNS?

Hello! I thought it was time to try and collect some of the wisdom floating around and see if we can't create a single thread for solving some of the most common and annoying repeat-issues. So how about it ! I define "common problems" as: if I'm getting a deja-vu every third time I post . Staff will have broken the Matrix by this point. Each problem will have its own headline and then with any number of solution-oriented links appended underneath. For this reason, this grand list isn't final and is meant to be updated continually. Naturally, the higher the link number for a solution, the more obscure the solutions are probably getting. Warning: solutions aren't guaranteed. Hi, The Problem: Testing my connection speed outside of the VPN results in speeds of circa 50-75Mbps, however, in the VPN (through the Eddie client and a standard OpenVPN application) results in speeds of circa 5-10Mbps. Test conditions: Software: Android 9 Device: Oneplus 6T Network: EE (Max plan) Attempted Solutions: Changing to a wide range of servers (different countries and different servers within the same country)Changing the portChanging the Encryption methodologyChanging Phones (seems to have the same issue with a Samsung S7 edgeI am open to suggestions as to why I seems to be throttled only when on my mobile connection as when I'm on my home Wifi the connection is near enough the smart regardless of the VPN. Thanks.

Since I have a 400Mbit/s connection the VPN speed dropped significantly. The problems started after upgrading my internet connection to 200Mbit/s: https://airvpn.org/topic/23851-guide-fast-internet-connection-slow-vpn-speeds/ This could be solved by changing the MTU size. Now I have 400Mbit/s and the VPN speed is dropping and even changing MTU does not solve the issue. I started analyzing the issue with wireshark and found tons of "TCP retransmissions". Any idea that to do?

ANSWERED Slow Download Speed again! Frustrating!
ghostp posted a topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
Hello, my download speed while connect to Air has slowed down again. I have a 50 Mbps. A couple months ago I had huge issues with air and it worked only through SSL, but not that fast. I couldn't locate the issue so I've just wiped out my OS and install Win 10 pro 64bit weeks ago. Since today air worked fine and fast but only with TCP. Since yesterday Air connections are very slow, between 5 - 12 Mbps. I tried everything that I've found in this forum about speed issues, changing ports, from tcp to udp with different ports, also the network adapter issue with 25/15 ect.. but it won't work, the maximum speed I get is 13 Mbps, only on some Netherland servers. All other servers, even those in my country, are way below 10 Mbps. That is very dissapointing and frustrating, specially as I've renew my sub again through the black friday offer. Any ideas? -
So when I download torrents and other data I appear to have thing configured properly. Using a forwarded port, setting QTorrent to use only ethernet (the connection AirVpn is using through Eddie) and setting eddie to Force use of the VPN or it will kill all connections. The speeds I'm getting on the server are decent like 5 MBp/s that is Megabytes per second. I've also used Ipleak and other leak tests for Qtorrent and NONE of them show any leaks to my actual IP. Ok, so that's all good news, but why when I open Eddie to the Overview page it shows that my download speed is like 60 Mbps as in Megabits per second which would be around 600 Kilobytes. This is not accurately showing the actual download speeds I get, or the upload speeds. Why is this happening? I appreciate the help!

Hi, I am currently connected to Betelgeuse on a Netgear R7000 running dd-wrt firmware but the speeds I'm getting are massively throttled. I use Virgin and have a 150meg account, connected to the router without vpn from a gateway wirelessly onto my laptop I get 116mbps but as soon as I enable vpn I get 16mbps. Any hints, advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

My torrent speeds are much slower when connected to AirVPN. I'm just getting frustrated now because I usually look around forums for solutions, but I've tried about everything and its no use x - port forwarding x - protocols x - utorrent preferences x - different torrent programs x - different servers And I know its not a torrent problem because when I use my connection without vpn I get 7-12 mbps but with I get 300 - 600 kbps. I'm out of ideas and was hoping someone could help me.

AirVPN has become so slow, it's now useless. No settings have been changed that would cause this. Preference->Advanced->Buffer set to 256 (after the slowdown). Uninstalled an earlier Eddie and installed the newest version. Tried dozens of servers, including different countries. Tried SSL, also tried UDP and TCP protocols (now back to automatic). Took 10 minutes to load speedtest.net and it claims 90 Mb/s, but AirVPN site claims 37 kb/s. CPU usage is between 3% and 7%. 2 weeks ago this was between 70 and 90 Mb/s, my ISP does not throttle VPNs. Anyone have a simplified idea here? I'm no programmer.

Hello, i used airvpn before the move to a new house. In this time i got with my old isp the full speed most of the time . But now with a much better connection and a different isp ( 400 cable ). I get only 1-3 MB/s max on every server i tested . And i purchased AirVPN for a year i think. This is just bad. I download most of the time over JDownloader 2 with a premium account.Windows 10 ProLAN connection 1GBUsally 35+ MB/s without Air VPNSSL port wont helpI try every suggestion. Please help me with my slow speeds.

The findings I always has an 100Mbit/s connection from my ISP. This always worked well with AirVPN I got about 92Mbit/s with this VPN. Some days ago I got a 200Mbit/s connection from my ISP and the VPN speeds dropped to about 60Mbit/s and sometimes lower. I tried several VPN and also different protocols. Even stunnel didn't fixed the problem. The solution I often read about changing the MTU size or the mssfix value to 1300. This did not the Job for me. My solution was the TCP Optimizer. This tool can just be executed and must not be installed. It should be run in Administrator Mode. (Right click on the exe file -> run as administrator) Step 1 adjust your connection speed Step 2 select your network adapter Step 3 Click on MTU/Latency Step 4 Click on largest MTU [do this once when you are connected to the VPN and once outside the VPN] In VPN I got a result of maximum MTU 1300 and outside I had 1500. Please share your results and your connection speed. Step 5 Back to general settings At the bottom choose "custom" set MTU to the calculated value and "apply changes". Even after the changes not all AirVPN servers worked well for me. I will create a list with servers who worked with my options. Please report your results if this helped you. Hi There! Recently I'm having issues with my connection speed. I used to be able to hit about 1.25 MBs on torrents, but about 2 weeks ago I noticed a massive slowdown in speed, now I'm lucky if I can hit 100 KBs. I've tried switching around servers with lower latency, changing the protocol connection settings without any meaningful change in speed. I have a port forwarding enabled, so I tried changing the enabled forwarded port with no change in speed. When disconnected from the VPN, speed on the torrent is about 3 MBs. I ran a speedtest on the website Down: 32.699 Mbit/s Out, 12.695 Mbit/s In (38%), 20MB - Up: 10.437 Mbit/s Out, 8.565 Mbit/s In (82%), 20MB - Date: Tue, 25 Jul 2017 23:27:29 GMT - Buffers: 20MB/20MB - Laps: 3, Time: 86.50 secs I'm on a windows machine using the AirVPN client and Vuze 5.7.5.0 for torrents, Speed should be well above what I'm getting while torrenting, and I can't figure out where the throttle is. Any thoughts?

Hi all, The screenshot below shows the struggles I've been having with AirVPN, since I bought a subscription yesterday My internet connection is 30 mbit, but I already know from experience without vpn that the provider delivers a consistent 10 mbit connection (something they won't fix), However, since I joined AirVPN the p2p capacity has grinded to a halt! Using a private torrent subscription, I normally download 1mb/s, and I still seem to be able to reach those speeds for a few minutes per hour, but the rest of the time the speeds are reduced to 50kb/s max. I've set up Deluge to only listen on a specific port, which I received through this website, but it seems to no avail. Looking at the eddie log, it appears that the slowdown either started or ended around the 9:50 mark (I wasn't tracking when I took the screenshots), and would really like to consistently receive quicker speeds. Is there anything I can try? I've already tried a few different servers and did the general reading-up on the forum.

Web speed is slow but torrent speed is fast?!
Akillez posted a topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
Hi everyone! The title pretty much sums it up. Lately I've been having some trouble. My torrent speeds are as fast as they should be (1.2Mb/s) but whenever I open a browser, the speeds are unbelievably slow. It sometimes takes 5 or more seconds to open a page and last time I tried, it was taking 8h for Ubuntu to download from their website. Things I've tried: - Disabling ipv6; - Different protocols (UDP was taking 8h to download; TCP 4h (100kb/s); SSH taking 2h (200kb/s); SSL taking 2h (170kb/s) ; - Different buffer sizes (which seems to work in the short term but after a minute is slow again); Do you guys have any lead or have any idea why this may be happening? I'm using Windows 10, btw. And every browser seems to be slow -
I'm experiencing very slow speeds using AirVPN. I've been using another VPN service for a year now but their service is becoming crap, can't get a stable connection, so I'm looking for an alternative. Today I purchased a Trial of AirVPN to see what the service with them would be like. My ISP provides me 100Mbps download 10Mbps upload, but when connected through AirVPN servers, I get around 3Mbps download speeds, I can't understand why the connections are so bad and why the speeds are so slow and unstable, even when selecting servers located in the same country. Is this normal? Alternatives?

So i've used AirVPN for about a week and the speeds have been really bad, i originally have a 100/100 connection but when connected to any server low or high load i get terrible speeds like 300kb or less. I've set my buffer size to 256 and 512 and both do pretty much nothing. Not trying to shit on air but imo that isn't acceptable speeds at all. I am currently using a netgear r7000 router (I am not very network knowing so try and explain it in the easiest way possible) thanks.

HI, I started testing the service today. I've enabled VPN at the router level. Download without VPN connected is measured by GOOGLE at 220+ Mbits per second and upload at 12+Mbits per second. Once I connect the VPN, GOOGLE measures at 1.1Mbits down and 1.8 Mbits up.... AirVPN test measures as follows: Down: 18.207 Mbit/s Out, 3.024 Mbit/s In (16%), 20MB - Up: 11.208 Mbit/s Out, 2.876 Mbit/s In (25%), 20MB - Date: Thu, 01 Jun 2017 06:46:00 GMT - Buffers: 20MB/20MB - Laps: 3, Time: 252.42 secs Is this for real? If so... it's completely unacceptable. Anyone else facing the similar issues? Thanks!

ANSWERED P2P connection slow no matter what I do
hauntnut posted a topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
I am noticing that my P2P/torrent speeds are much slower when connected to AirVPN. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps to fix the problem, with no success: - Setup port forwarding on the AirVPN website and configured Tixati torrent program according to the instructions on the AirVPN FAQ - Tried using a different torrent program (uTorrent)- also configured with the correct port forwarding settings, with no resulting speed difference from Tixati - Tried all of these steps on my laptop using both a wireless and wired connection to my ISP router; again, no resulting speed difference I tested this using a single torrent which maxed out at 4,000 kb/s when not connected through AirVPN; when connected, it bounced up and down between 100 and 500. Is there something I'm not doing right? I'm currently using an Arris wireless router provided by my ISP, and an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with Windows 10. Any help is appreciated. I'm fairly new to this, and would like to make the most use of it as I can. Thanks! -
For approximately the last two to four weeks I have been experiencing very slow browsing when connected thru the AirVPN 2.10.3 client from my Windows 10 machine. I believe the issue is related to DNS resolution because the speed of my connection seems normal when I am engaged in large file transfers; it only slows down when I am querying DNS continuously, such as when I'm browsing in Chrome. My computer is Windows 10 Pro, 64bit,
