  1. Hi guys My problem is the following: I have port forwarding enabled on my airvpn, and I can ssh without problem with the command ssh -p myport user@myhost.airdns.org from home or from my cellphone. Now the problem is that at work myport is locked by the corporate firewall, and for all I can see all the other useful myports are... Port 22 is instead open... is there a way to go around the firewall? Please let me know. Thanks a lot
  2. I'm getting an error while trying to use the remote port forwarding feature. "Not reachable on server IP over the external port XXXXX, tcp protocol. Error : 111 - Connection Refused - Checked 0 seconds ago." I'm using the VPN on my DD-WRT router, and the "Forwarded to:" IP doesn't match mine. Does anyone know what happened?
  3. I have installed OpenVPN client on my FreeBSD file server at home. I've used 'other' config file and it's working fine, I can ssh out to my work servers, browse the web and all that good stuff, my external IP is obviously the open AirVPN assigned to my vpn connection. tun0: flags=8051<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500 options=80000<LINKSTATE> inet6 fe80::214:d1ff:fe1d:3bbb%tun0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x6 inet 10.4.12.51 --> 10.4.0.1 netmask 0xffff0000 I've forwarded two ports, one for torrents, and one for ssh. Neither port is working. For example, I've setup 56602 for torrents. I've started transmission, and it's listening on the port in question: # netstat -an | grep 56602tcp6 0 0 *.56602 *.* LISTENtcp4 0 0 10.4.12.51.56602 *.* LISTENudp4 0 0 10.4.12.51.56602 *.* # lsof -p 52166 | grep 56602transmiss 52166 transmission 9u IPv4 0xfffff8001e4e8c00 0t0 TCP 10.4.12.51:56602 (LISTEN)transmiss 52166 transmission 10u IPv6 0xfffff8003f3fe000 0t0 TCP *:56602 (LISTEN)transmiss 52166 transmission 11u IPv4 0xfffff8000e44d580 0t0 UDP 10.4.12.51:56602 I do see incoming packets on tun0: # tcpdump -i tun0 port 56602... 18:06:06.853682 IP ********.56966 > 10.4.12.51.56602: Flags , seq 644910569, win 8192, options [mss 1352,nop,wscale 2,nop,nop,sackOK], length 018:06:07.132328 IP ********.53676 > 10.4.12.51.56602: Flags , seq 2949838881, win 8192, options [mss 1352,nop,nop,sackOK], length 0...18:06:06.759788 IP ********.18848 > 10.4.12.51.56602: UDP, length 2018:06:06.820983 IP ********.58101 > 10.4.12.51.56602: UDP, length 20... But nothing going back from my host (I've replaced actual ips with '********'). My firewall is open: # ipfstat -i | grep 56602pass in quick on tun0 inet from any to 10.4.12.51/32 port = 56602 Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
  4. hey everyone, i'm pretty new to this and i'm getting the following error when trying to connect: cannot login (curl: (7) failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 9150: connection refused) it worked fine previously when i was with comcast, but after moving to a house with centurylink i'm now getting this. might anyone here know the step i will need to get through it?
  5. Hello, I have installed and configured OpenVPN on OpenWRT and it works with the interface tun0 configured such that OpenVPN automatically starts on bootup of OpenWRT and if there is no VPN connection then the Lan-network cannot access the WAN, only OpenVPN when it is up and running. But I have a problem with Port Forwarding. I have "made" a forwarded port in the Client area of Airvpn. But when I have my program up and running using that port it is not accessable and also clicking on the "check" button from Aivpn of the port shows it is not accessible. Does anybody know and can help we with setting up a correct port forwarding in OpenWRT for the VPN? I have tried but nothing did succeed
  6. Hello, I do not have very advanced networking knowledge, but things have worked well for me until now. I recently decided to switch from uTorrent, which had been working well, to qBittorrent. In the AirVPN client settings, I added an open port. I then opened qBittorrent and added this port number to the Incoming Connections field. I also unchecked the uPnP box in qBittorrent, per instructions I've seen around here. When I run the port check on this port on the AirVPN site, it gives a green light. Also, the website http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ says that this port is now open. However, no torrents are working. All of the trackers return the status "Not working" whenever I try any torrent. Am I missing something? Suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!
  7. I have AirVPN connected via router running DD-WRT . I want to port forward a service running in a Virtualbox NAT virtual machine. Currently I'm forwarding the port in the Airvpn client area, on the router using iptables to the host machines local IP and finally in Virtualbox NAT port forwarding. Checking via http://canyouseeme.org/ shows the port cannot be seen. I know the IPtables rules are correct as other port forwarded services are reachable on the host machine. Is this because the service is behind two NAT's i.e double NAT? Any suggestions would be helpful.
  8. My ports used to work about 2 days ago, and all of a sudden, they have stopped working. I never get the red button/icon, but I do get the grey one - with Errors 110 and 111. I downloaded the Port Forwarding Tester program, and don't really know how to use it. I put in the port of the IP and Port that the AirVPN site generated, and clicked send to both UDP and TCP. UDP just says "sended" when I click send, but when I send to TCP, I get the error "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it...". I am doing this while connected to a server. I have tried reconnecting to different servers, turning off my firewall, and/or allowing all of the AirVPN programs into Firewall. I have also tried different ports.
  9. Hi All, I am new to AirVPN and wish to access my FTP from outside my network while the AirVPN client is running in home tomato router. I've read articles on this forum where we take out forwarded ports from the client area but still I am a bit lost. I've generated 10 forwarding ports from the client area of AirVPN, and i've mapped these to 10 internal ports within "Port forwarding" of my router e.g. Vsftpd config is pasv_max_port=11100 pasv_min_port=11090 And assigned these to the ports airvpn have issued to me. Where do I go from here? I need help with setting up the IP table rules and using my android phone as the connecting device to the ftp, do I use my real IP as the server address or do I use the VPN as the server address. Additionally, for port 21 In my router under port forwarding I've set (Ext port) = 22xx (Int port) 21 (int address 192.168.1.1) Note, If I kill the VPN it all works... but I guess you knew that. Thanks for any help
  10. Hello AirVPN Staff and others. I would very much like to have an API call for creating and removing port forwardings, including requesting a random port. This would allow users to have a different port open for every session started. Setting up a port to be forwarded is already pretty simple, but it does still require having a web browser running and logging in to Air. This may be a small obstacle, but an obstacle nonetheless. I strongly suspect many people will set up a port forwarding only once, and then using the same port for all future sessions, and this has some negative implications for privacy. It is already possible to have this functionality when talking to Air's web server through a browser and clicking buttons manually, so I'm making the assumption it will not be too difficult to do the same through an official HTTP-based API. Does this make sense? I'd love to hear what you think.
  11. Dear AIRVPN users, AIRVPN is configured with success in an asus router (merlin build). Port 80 is redirected to a web server using following post . I can access any website using http but not using https. The browser display ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR error. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
  12. I have just started using AirVPN and have attempted to forward ports in order to increase the speed of my downloads on MuTorrent. I have used the Port Forwarding feature, allowed the port to be chosen for me (have not specified the port) and have selected both TCP and UDP as the relevant protocols. When testing the port via the Port Listener tool, I have discovered that, while the port is open to UDP, it is not open to TCP. I was wondering if there was anything I could do about this or if it even matters.
  13. Could a malicious party ever possibly gain access to a list of AirVPN's users' forwarded ports? If so, could the malicious party then correlate those users with traffic to and from the exit IP addresses of AirVPN's servers, using the port numbers as common values in both sets of data? To help explain what I mean, imagine the following scenario: John Doe is the only AirVPN user to ever use BitTorrent on port 12345. Even if he connects to a malicious peer, which we'll call the Ministry of Truth, his anonymity remains intact, because the most information that the Ministry can correlate are the files being shared, the IP address of an AirVPN server, and port number 12345. However, what if the Ministry got a court order demanding that AirVPN provide a list of its users' forwarded ports? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the Ministry then be able to see that John Doe was the only AirVPN user to forward port 12345, thus linking him to the aforementioned BitTorrent traffic? Perhaps I'm simply misunderstanding how AirVPN's port forwarding works, so correct me if I'm wrong. But if I'm right, then what measures must users take to protect themselves from such a scenario?
  14. I'm trying to figure out how to use an SSH tunnel to access my home computer when I'm away. I used AirVPN to forward a random port, and then set that as my listening port on my SSH server. Several hours later, I tried to connect from another location, but my SSH client didn't recognize the hostname (****.airdns.org). I logged-in to this site and checked the Dynamic DNS Name Propagation. Each DNS server has a red error message. AirVPN DNS, Google, and OpenDNS simply say "EMPTY", but the other two give rather specific error messages. OpenNIC says: ";; Connection to 109.235.51.12#53(109.235.51.12) for ****.airdns.org failed: connection refused." DNS Advantage says: ";; communications error to 156.154.70.1#53: connection reset" I have absolutely no idea what any of it means, but I can tell that my home computer is still connected to an AirVPN server.
  15. Hello Yesterday, in the middle of a session, port forwarding stopped working for me. Going to "your forwarded ports" on the website and running a TCP test gives the message "Not reachable on server IP over the external port 26247, tcp protocol. Error: 110 - Connection timed out." This happened to me a few months ago, and simply forwarding a different port worked for me. However, this time it is happening for all ports on the website (same error). No changes were made on my local firewall, all port forwarding works fine when off of the VPN. I am on the Andromedae server, if that matters. Thanks!
  16. I have to following question which I am sure has a simple solution though I am not knowledgable enough to figure it out myself: I have a tomato router running as a client for the VPN connection to AirVPN (with IP 192.168.1.1). Now I have a computer in the LAN which should serve as a SSH server towards the outside (with IP 192.168.1.2). I have set up a port forwarding, to forward the port 22 from the WAN to the client 192.168.1.2. Which works when the VPN is not on. If I connect the router with AirVPN having in AirVPN a port forwarding to the local port 22 set up and then try to connect from the outside to the SSH-server, I suddenly end up talking to the SSH-server of the router. So the port forwarding does not work. I guess the reason is that the connection comes in through the tunnel and thus the port forwarding rule does not match. How can I adjust the settings of my router that the connection to the port 22 through the tunnel are forwarded to 192.168.1.2? Thank you for your help, Fabian P.S. Luckily I figured out that the connection from the outside can talk to the SSH of the router (even though it is set up not to accept any external connection attempts). But I guess that is what the P in VPN stands for. In the mean time, I turned the SSH server off: the standard options for the SSH login on the router where set and I guess there is nothing worse than your router being hacked...
  17. Hello AirVPN, Just a quick usability suggestion. It would be great to be able to add a short description or label to each forwarded port. It's hard to keep track of which port is used for what or why you even have it open in the first place. Thank you for taking this into consideration
  18. Hi guys! I'm having some problems with airvpn: -I noticed that in airvpn client download and upload values don't increase (it's correct?) -I can't open any forwarded port (I always receive the same error : Not reachable on server IP over the external port 5796, tcp protocol. Error : 110 - Connection timed out) Thanks P.s. In "speedtest.net" site I can see that I'am still in Italy and not in UK (the server that I am connected).

  20. I already use port forwarding for torrents and get speeds that I consider very good, the fastest I've seen being about 4mb/s. However, when downloading things with Firefox it's a different story. On speedtest.net, I score about 4mbps, though this is bits rather than bytes if I understand rightly, meaning about 400kb/s second, as opposed to about 60mbps or 6mb/s with no VPN. Please correct me if I'm wrong with these conversions! In any case, I had to download some large files with my browser and resorted to doing it with no anonymity software because the speeds were so much better. Would I be able to mitigate this by forwarding ports for Firefox? Is such a setup possible?
  21. Hi there, I want to open a specific port [ no matter which one it is ] as my ISP is blocking all of them! But when I connect to AirVPN servers ( I already port forwarded from the client area as in the screenshot ). But when using CanYouSeeMe.org it appears that no port is open. But I used "http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php" and it seems that port number 88 is open. So, what's the deal? Will I be able to bypass the ISP block?
  22. Hello All. I have a problem with port forwarding to the transmission daemon on my raspberry Pi....I have been trying to get it to work for a few days now and have finally given in and decided to post on the forum.... The steps I have gone through are: Pick a random port number (e.g. 54567) Configure port forwarding on router using that port and to the IP address of my raspberry Pi. Go to client area and forward a port on the server I connect to (using the port number I selected in step 1, entered into the local port number box) Use the generated port number in the "incoming port number" in the transmission options. Close & restart the transmission daemon. No matter what I try the port never seems to open, checking with the "test port" feature in the transmission GUI. I would like to point out that I am a novice with linux and the raspberry pi. Any advice would be great and sorry in advance if I have not posted enough info...... Thanks
  23. I understand why a router should not be "double" port forwarded when using AirVPN but I'm a bit confused as to how that applies to my ISP router in a dd-wrt setup and whether this router can be port forwarded the normal way without compromising security. An example of why I want to do this is that I use torrent website that won't allow VPN connections. To separate these torrents from others I use two torrent clients that both need to be port forwarded. Torrent client A is used on for non-VPN connections and is blocked if the VPN is active and vice versa for torrent client B. Is is safe to port forward the ISP router for torrent client A and leave it open as long as this is never allowed to work over the VPN? I have a similar issue with Skype, although there's more potential for conflict. Can I port forward skype on different ports with AirVPN and in my ISP router as long as each is configured to work only with the appropriate connection? I haven't seen any postings about this but I'd be grateful if someone can confirm. Thanks
  24. I connect to AirVPN via Tomato Router. I have set iptables as per the how-to at this link: https://airvpn.org/topic/9270-how-to-forward-ports-in-dd-wrt-tomato-with-iptables/?hl=%2Biptables+%2Bprerouting+%2Btun11+--dpor It works fine if I am forwarding the same external to internal port. But what about when I want to re-map to a different internal port, do I put the internal port into iptables, or the external port, or both? And how about for software firewalls further downstream on computers on my LAN... do I set the firewalls to allow the internal port, external port or both? Thanks!!
  25. Hello all, I am trying to find a way to make my home server (https, ftp, ...) accessible through the internet, while being connected to AirVPN. The OpenVPN client on my DD-WRT router is properly configured and connects fine. All the computers behind the router are available to browse the web and show the correct AirVPN IP adress. The server stays accessible from inside the private network . My problem is that I can't seem to find a way to make the server accessible from the internet, through my AirVPN WAN IP. For example, I have created a port forward on the AirVPN site from port 14645 to 443. My router is set to forward port 443 to the server's private IP, but this configuration doesn't work... Can somebody tell me how to properly setup port forwarding so that I can access my server through my AirVPN public IP ?
