  1. I just bought Xiaomi AI from China, which is a Chinese version of Amazon Alexia. I’m based in London, my iPhone 6 doesn’t connect it by Bluetooth initially. After using Airvpn in Hong Kong the phone connects the AI system by Bluetooth but not WiFi. I wonder if it’s because the server in Hong Kong is blocked by China or I missed something. Any help is highly appreciated. The log for the connection, which is fine, is attached. 2. LZ1, I think you need to cut the U.S. a little slack. I don't think you can name any powerful country in history that didn't push weaker countries around for it's own benefit. That's a human fault, not just a U.S. fault. Yes, the U.S. certainly did that and I hate it. But at the same time it did pay to rebuild Europe after WW2 and protected the non-communist world from the USSR and China. Europe, Japan and most of the world still lives under the protection of the U.S. military umbrella. Those who want to see the U.S. fall should be careful what they wish for. Finding themselves under Russia's or China's thumb would be drastically worse. Re: climate change. All the talk is pointless now. Frankly it's too little too late. Short of a dramatic technical breakthrough (like fusion) very soon, runaway global warming is the future. World carbon emission will continue to rise because of China, India, South America and more generally human's inability to limit their breeding (global population is now projected to NOT level off at 12 billion, but continue to grow). We've probably already passed the global warming tipping point and it would take a massive cheap clean energy expenditure (the technology for which we don't have) to try to undo it. The latest projections based on the latest data from Antarctica show a 6ft sea level rise by the end of the century. Trillions will be spent in an ultimately futile attempt to buy more time for the world's major coastal cities. I agree more should be done to put in place the latest generation of fission plants which are passively cooled and fail safely and without human intervention when they fail. Still that falls into the too little too late bucket.
  3. Hello! On your Android or iOS device you need to re-generate a configuration file and import it as a profile in your application (openvpn-connect, OpenVPN for Android...). Try the following settings: - click "Advanced Mode" in the Configuration Generator - select protocol TCP, port 443, entry-IP address 3 - proceed as usual to download / import the profile On entry-IP addresses 3 and 4 of our VPN servers you have OpenVPN working with "tls-crypt". It means that the whole Control Channel of OpenVPN is encrypted. This connection mode has showed great abilities to bypass a wide variety of blocks. In this case we also suggest TCP because, according to the reports we have been receiving from China in the last years, it is not uncommon that UDP gets entirely blocked on mobile lines. UPDATE: with our software Eddie Android edition, you will not need the Configuration Generator anymore in Android. Eddie will try by itself anti-blocking connection modes. If you don't wish to wait (Eddie may need up to 1 minute to find the proper way to circumvent China blocks). go to the "Settings" view and please set: Custom protocol option to TCPCustom port to 443Custom TLS mode to tls-cryptQuick connection mode to Use custom settingsEddie will connect to port 443, with protocol TCP, using tls-crypt. Kind regards

  5. I don't know if this is a problem or not. If not then great I've been using Mint 18 Cinnamon for a while & KDE recently without any issues. I want to use openSUSE KDE Tumblenose as my main system and have it running in a VM at the moment. I decided to install the beta version into the openSUSE VM and it is working fine as far as I know. However, during the installation I had an issue with 'Signature verification failed'. I retried then ignored it and everything seemed to install ok. linux-srbs:/home/moo/AirVPN # zypper install airvpn_linux_x64_rpm.rpm Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... 6. This is the reason i trust in you guys. I've been searching like every one says one thing "no logging". But in the end such as NordVPN, HidemyassVPN has been caught data leakage or selling private info. Not many VPN offers TOR or investing for free speech. They have VPN server in China how cool is that.
  7. Hi, I bought this VPN for my brother back in China. AirVPN works properly on my computer BUT doesn't connect to any server on his. Every time while connecting, the client says 'Checking authorization...' 'Installing tunnel driver 0901' 'Restart in 3..2..1..' and goes back into the loop. I saved the log file on his computer if anyone can help with this problem. Thank you
  8. Thank you for replying, my brother was sleeping (china time). I tried to install the TAP manually but it didn't work. Here is the log file. Eddie_20200808_153805.txt
  9. Airvpn has server in Hong Kong, NOT mainland China. Hong Kong and mainland China are NOT the same. It is totally different case. Mainland China is actively control of speech, control news, internet filtering through "Great Firewall of China", block most vpn traffic, block many western popular websites etc. All these doesn't apply to Hong Kong and most HK ISP doesn't keep logs. Anyway I vote Yes. More is better if possible.
  10. 1) I have an Asus router and you do need to upload configuration files. Simple way is to go to the Config Generator, make the selections, download the .ovpn files to your computer, and then upload them to the router. There are tutorials here that take you through step by step. One note: being in China you will need the servers' IP addresses in the .ovpn files. There is an option in the Config Generator, resolve hosts in the .ovpn files, to do this. If you don't do this you will not be able to connect to the server from the router. This is also true for devices, such as phones, etc. The Eddie client will work if you choose an SSL connection. Not sure about SSH because I never tried it. 2) AirVPN works, at least where I am. Whether one works or not, and how well it works, depends on where you are. For example, ExpressVPN worked when I tried it, but it was extremely slow. I tried the one my brother uses. It works for him in other areas of China, but not where I am. Sorry, but I don't remember which one it was. Another note: the airvpn.org website is blocked if you use a non-vpn connection. airvpn.info is not currently blocked. One last note: my bank will not allow me to use a VPN to login to their website. I don't know if other banks have a similar restriction.
  11. Suggestions are below: Your best bet is to speak to people or expats who live in China. (I am not that person) Learn what "vpn obfuscation" is ssl or ssh can obfuscate your vpn usage but if the end point is blocked (which is the case a lot of the times when it comes to vpn servers) then it doesn't matter Investigate shadowsocks and setting up your own vps (you may need some help from IT inclined folk) since you can delete and create a new vps if your IP becomes stale There are some VPN companies that work in better in China than others https://www.tipsforchina.com/ https://dcamero.azurewebsites.net/
  12. Hong Kong is an autonomous region of China. Basically it can run itself apart from China but, China doesn't want it to and wants it back within Chinese borders. It's a complicated situation and there is plenty of literature on the matter. Google it! Or as Zhang would say DuckDuckGo it!
  13. Just found this VPN for curiosity. https://hidester.com/ On it's website a protocol called CamoVPN has been described as a better protocol for circumventing china's firewall than OpenVPN. https://hidester.com/wiki/index.php/CamoVPN This caught my eyes, since I am in China now. After a little bit thought I guess that could be another fancy name of obfuscation method(I've already have a backup VPN using obfsproxy protocol). What do guys think about this VPN?
  14. If SSH protocol is uncensored, what is your evidence, zhang888? Where do you live? I suppose you don’t even live in China. If you are not Chinese, have you done your tests? I live in China and sometimes my connections get reset.
  15. Unfortunately, wireguard is blocked in China, doesn't work anymore through WG protocol..................I have tested Astrill/Torguard/VPNac woth their WG protocol...........confirmed by torguard staff........ damn..........
  16. I took a quick look at the EULA for Minecraft. It appears if you have the US version you agree to arbitration and basically sign away all rights to any kind of court action. Having said that, I'm wanting to get an account for my child. I live in China and it seems like I can log into my Mojang account when my VPN is up, but I haven't tried to actually download anything. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the advantage of using a VPN to log into Minecraft? I've done a few searches and here's what I sort of understand. 1) A VPN would allow you to download the normal version of Minecraft, as opposed to the Chinese version. 2) Using a VPN would also allow you to connect to some servers with a higher speed, depending on the location of the server. Is there any other real advantage for using a VPN with Minecraft? Are some servers blocked by China? Thanks
  17. Just chipping in to say that I have this problem with Eddie hanging, and it isn't necessarily after long periods of use or after sleep. On one occasion, I launched Eddie, connected to a server, disconnected a few minutes later (I'm in China and often need only short connections), then after a few minutes Eddie froze. My machine didn't sleep or go to screensaver during this time. It does seem to have something to do with the ping times being enabled. However I can't really turn them off permanently since my pings vary wildly from day to day and my situation (China) requires frequent switching of servers. Appreciate all the efforts from those making scripts. For those recommending a downgrade, I'd reply that this has possible security implications.
  18. I've personally had success with "AirVPN over SSH" (though I just signed up a few hours ago so I have it as an alternative to another VPN provider). Strangely no success with AirVPN over SSL, though my understanding is that China is starting to get wise to SSTP type traffic. That said, my personal experience in China is that the great firewall differentiates between cellular access and land lines. I have used roughly 6 VPNs in my time in China and all of them have had very few issues on my cell phone and all of them were completely screwed when I used them in the office or at home.
  19. Hello! I'd say download Eddie before departure, use SSL/SSH and maybe even get Tor ready just in case. It does work in China, although it might be patchy. There are some China-related threads around here if you look .
  20. Feedback from my side, Only L2TP/PPTP connections, and some OpenVPN connections on port 1194 are blocked. No issues at all with UDP/TCP port 443. Both China Telecom and China Unicom. Sorry I don't have access to other ISPs at this point, but those ones are 70% of China. Even without SSL/SSH tunnels. I don't want to go into assumptions here, but it seems to me this was a PR move, from some VPN providers that use default settings, just to bring some "new" features that we already have with Air, if you can call a non-standard port a feature. Anyway with the ability Air provides all of the users, without special "Premium" plans or other BS, the connections via SSL/SSH are simply cannot be blocked. Not in the near few years at least, unless they do some quantum computing calculation on each outgoing connection to determine the real protocol.
  21. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/vpn-users-in-china-megacity-chongqing-face-fines/3631568.html I realize the former notice applied to businesses in China running a VPN. This seems to target individual users. Anyone else heard more news on this? As usual it seems as though they're waiting to actually hit people with fines. Of course way out west they'll outright cut your service if you use a VPN or any kind of encrypted app.
  22. Yes, I'm in China now. The China Great Firewall is the most vexing. You remind me of it. Thank you. It is able to connect with OpenVPN over UDP/SSL/SSH by using Eddie. OpenVPN over TCP have no effect. And, I want to know: though OpenVPN over UDP can work and its Net Speed so fast, but it generate a lot of "TLS Error" per second. So, does it affect system performance or eat large amounts of memory?
  23. Dear AirVPN team, Thank you for your product, it proved quite helpful while in Shanghai, China last week. My challenge/problem was breaking through the Great Firewall of China. I was having sporadic connectivity problems with my own personal OpenVPN. I managed to find and download your tool during a moment when I was "unblocked" and had connectivity. My suggestion is this: Bundle in some tutorials, guides, etc... with the application itself. Everything link in the app to help we connect opened a my browser which could not open the intended web page. Your content was blocked by the Great Firewall of China. So while having connectivity problems I could not get to the very information intended to help we figure out how to fix my connectivity problems. I am not a networking guru, but I do know a few things. When I was over there, sometimes your tool could not connect and I was essentially trying "random things" in the preferences settings. If I had a little bit of help or guidance with me on my computer, I think that would have been a big plus. Thanks! P.S. Really glad I found your tool because it helped me a lot while over there! Big fan.
  24. I also live in the UAE, and I have been here for a few years. Your suggestions do not work unfortunately. They did at one point, but that is not the case currently. About 1.5 years ago or so, I had to switch to tls-crypt to connect, as DPI seemed to be blocking standard UDP 443 (or any port TCP or UDP). Then, about 9 months ago, this now fails in interesting ways. I use pfSense with gateway monitoring, and like OP says, traffic is throttled to the point is not useable. It went off and on for 1-2 weeks at a time for a few months, and now it is all time problematic. With tls-crypt to any ports or IP/FQDN's, there is severe throttling to about ~80% packet loss for any connection speeds. I switched to Stunnel with OpenVPN tunnels (took some work) on pfSense, and I experience throttling / packet loss on any connection speeds over 1-2Mbps. The experience is the same using Eddie clients on Windows 10, and it is the same on my mobile devices as well. Using Eddie, if I do OpenVPN over SSH or SSL to any ports/IP/FQDN, all the same. I spent many hours testing all the possible combos, no dice. Other VPN providers have the same issues, except most others are entirely worse because they do not offer tls-crypt or Stunnel/SSH options. If their tunnels do manage to get up, significant packet loss. It works for a VOIP call home, but that is about it. @Staff are there any suggestions or is this a known issue? I have many colleagues who work in China, and my discussions with them leave no doubt in my mind that UAE is now at the same level as their great firewall in terms of blocking non-desired connections. I suspect machine learning tools, and I have no hope it will improve as this technology comes down in cost.
