    SOLVED (currently under test).

Again me writing... hope to not bother anyone, but I think that updating this thread

can, and will, definitely be useful for someone.

I upgraded my router DD-WRT firmware to "v24-sp2 SVN revision 16454" and now

everything seems to be functioning well. Plus, settings are correctly saved into flash.

    Cheers to everyone ;)

    Hello!

Of course it is very useful. Thank you again!

    Hello!

Airvpn client has been tested under various version of Windows 7 and the errors you encountered have never been detected. We are going to look into the issue.

However, in the meantime, please consider that airvpn client is NOT necessary to connect to the VPN. Please connect directly with OpenVPN client (see "Member"-->"Access without our client").

I have a question regarding this as I also have a router capable of supporting OpenVPN. If the connection is between the router and your servers, I understand that OpenVPN will not need installed on the client machines, however what about airvpn.exe. Will it still need to be run from a client machine or is this all preconfigured by the config files you mentioned. Also, I do notice network slowness from using this (to be expected) and was wondering if it is easy to turn on/off when needed or to switch servers for various reasons?

    Hello!

You understand correctly and in that case there is no need to use airvpn.exe in the nodes behind the router since we provide everything the OpenVPN client needs (be it in a router or in any os): certificate, key and configuration files.

It is very easy to switch between various configurations, since you can generate as many of them as you wish and rename them according to your needs, so that you can jump from one server/port to another easily and quickly.

Network efficiency and load balance for the nodes behind your router will depend uniquely on your router itself. Our VPN server will see and serve just one node, with the bandwidth guaranteed for a single account.

    Hello!

Perhaps your ISP has a better peering with Germany than USA or Netherlands? There's a lot of bw free both on Altair and Sigma. That said, do not hesitate to use Polaris, of course, if it can give better performance to you; decentralization has also this nice side effect. :)

First I must say thank you very much for quick replying and for your help. :cheer:

So, in this scenario there's no need to install Openvpn on every client, need I?

I presume that all vpn traffic is between my router and your servers, my home LAN acts normally, right?

    Thanks again

    Hello!

Yes, correct. You don't need to install OpenVPN client on every node. With this configuration, remember that the connection between the router and your home nodes will not be encrypted by OpenVPN, of course (this is relevant only if you use the router with WiFi and no or low encryption - force WPA2).

Hi to everyone. Wishing to apply as a premium user, I wonder if it's possible to configure a router (i.e. a DD-WRT one with OpenVPN support) to support Airvpn on 2 or more Linux and/or Windows devices.

Is there any tutorial/example to do so?

    Thank you very much. :)

    Hello!

Yes, it is possible. From us you need configuration, certificate and key files. You can download them all through our generator, when you're premium member ("Member"-->"Access without our client").

After that, a good reference guide is here (check your DD-WRT version, though):

Trying to connect using the Air VPN client v0.8.

I start the client in Administrator mode and everything seem to work as it should.

I login using "Member Access" with my login and password.

Once I'm loged in i dont see any servers to connect to.

And the OpenVPN config map is empty.

It worked fine until I upgraded the client to v0.8

    What can be wrong?

    Hello!

Could you please make sure you have activated the account you are using for the access? Also, could you please try to connect with the OpenVPN client and send us the complete logs?

    Thank you.

  11. Hello!

In our search for safe payment methods we have found something which promises to meet both our expectations and privacy requirements, BitCoin. www.bitcoin.org

We wish to experiment with it. We have just prepared a limited amount of 3-months activations reserved to BitCoin payments. Those who don\'t want to make a transaction with PayPal or AlertPay can have 3 months premium membership for 26 BitCoins.

If there is interest and if everything works swiftly on our side (there are no risks for the customers in this phase anyway) we will consider to put BitCoin as another payment method by default.

Do not hesitate to contact us in private for all the details (menu \"Support\"-->\"Contact us\").

Perhaps I'm not on topic, but I think that my question regarding privacy, too.

When one pays for a Premium account by Paypal, aren't his personal data trasmitted?

So in theory there is possible to trace people by Paypal transactions... or am I wrong?

Hoping to be wrong, of course

    Hello!

You are definately on-topic. Thank you for pointing out this important issue.

We keep account data and payment data strictly separated and unrelated. However, an (international) court order may force PayPal or AlertPay to reveal transactions and with a deep investigation a correlation is, although difficult, theoretically not impossible. Such orders are issued for serious crimes. We don't want, obviously, aid such crimes.

In particular, referring to our Terms of Service, any violation of the European Convention on Human Rights is strictly forbidden and we will cooperate with competent authorities in case of such violations, should we become aware of them as a consequence of competent authorities warning - significant examples are human trafficking and child abuse material dissemination.

That said, we must however keep in mind some grim considerations, according to which big corporations or repressive governments may bring on legal or illegal actions in order to suffucate freedom of expression and the right to access and disseminate knowledge, culture and information. Although such actions may hardly win after a fair and due process, they could cause consequences out of the control of any proper judicial overview (just imagine, for example, retaliations of repressive regimes or organized crime against a blogger or against any source of information whose identity is disclosed).

One of the aims of our service is to protect our customers and more in general the citizens of the world from those threats.

Therefore, we have been studying various systems. Unfortunately the forms of payments that we have been evaluating have unacceptable conditions for us.

    Thanks for your reply sir/madam.

    Here's what i followed-

    1. Followed the instructions to activate trial period.

    2. Downloaded the configuration files and pasted them to /etc/openvpn.

    3. CD'ed to the openvpn directory and issued sudo openvpn --config air.ovpn.

    4. Tried with firewall disabled also but no joy.

Am i doing something wrong or maybe missing something?

    Hello!

The steps you have followed are correct. However, we have just performed a deep check of your account and everything is fine. The system authorizes you to connect to any server.

Make sure that user.key has been copied properly from air.zip and pasted into the correct directory.

Finally, there is a slight chance that the UDP protocol is causing problems: UDP packets not arriving from client to server or vice versa. This may be caused by low quality connection, router not forwarding properly UDP packets or your ISP capping/throttling UDP ports (several providers from Italy, China, Egypt and many more do that). We don't know if you're using UDP; if it's the case, try to switch to proto TCP.

If that does not solve the issue, please do not hesitate to open a ticket.

  14. Hello!

It looks like you did not activate your account, so you have no authorization to connect to that server and the TLS handshaking fails. Which key are you using? How did you generate it?

If you activated your account, then either you did not copy properly your key, or something is blocking the handshaking (check your connectivity, including the firewall). There is no difference with the previous connection method and as before you must have downloaded valid key and certificate.

Do not hesitate to open a ticket if you can't solve the problem.

and what is the validity period of promo codes. because one of my code that i was unable to use is not working now

    Hello!

Sorry, you can have only 1 promotional activation at a time. No accumulation of coupons is allowed, unused coupons are deleted or re-assigned, and requests for trial coupons when you're already under a free test period will be ignored. Using multiple trial coupons on the same account will trigger the anti-scam system.

  17. As you may have seen, Sigma, our USA node, is currently offline. We have been forced to put it offline for repeated, intermittent malfunctioning.

We are working with the aid of the fast and full support of our american provider to detect and solve the problem as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your patience.

    EDIT 31-Mar-11

Sigma is now online. Problems have been fixed. If you find any malfunctioning, please do not hesitate to open a ticket.

  20. Hello!

The free access program aimed to promote our premium service, thwart censorship and aid activists in hostile regimes is working.

The program is giving free access to all premium servers, with limitations to prevent impact on premium members, while blocking scammers. Please remember that bandwidth priority goes to the premium members: without them our project would be unsustainable.

Activists and people in countries which actively censor the Internet shuld either contact us in private or refer to the Telecomix Crypto Munitions Bureau via a secured connection (use TOR and https and a safe e-mail address). Telecomix agents can be contacted almost 24h/24 and offer a variety of free solutions to enhance privacy and anonymity and bypass censorship. They also may help you set up I2P connections and more!

IRC: irc.telecomix.org, port 9999 (SSL/TLS) or 6667 (warning, no encryption on port 6667); if you can't use an IRC client, access here: https://chat.telecomix.org

Channel #telekompaketet. Ask there, they also have lulcatz and cakes. You can access IRC via I2P too.

People who want to have a trial period to premium servers are welcome to contact us in private (menu "Support"-->"Contact us").

Furthermore, follow us on Twitter, to get news, offers for free access and discounts.

    https://twitter.com/airvpn

Repeated requests for renewals of the free period will be evaluated on a case by case basis, while uninterrupted service is granted for activists.

    Kind regards

    Hello!

If your ISP follows this behaviour under government orders, the answer is yes. To contact Telecomix please read the following post:

However, if your ISP blocked all TCP ports, you could not have an Internet access, so there\'s something strange in your description.
