LZ1 got a reaction from Acakly in What Is This Forum For?   ...
    Hello!

This sub-forum hasn't seen any activity since its creation and perhaps it's because most don't understand the purpose of it and therefore how to contribute.

AirVPN supports FOSS software because compared to the closed world of proprietary software, it's more harmonious with AirVPNs Mission. An example of FOSS is AirVPNs Eddie client.

    The AirVPN Mirrors Project

FOSS projects can be difficult to run, because they're often done on a volunteer and therefore free basis.

So they often have little or no income to pay for the upkeep of servers/mirrors, to distribute their potentially fantastic and important work.

Thus the Mirrors Project allows the community to suggest projects that AirVPN will support.

If granted, AirVPN will cover the cost of X amount of "mirrors". Which allow the software in question to be downloaded.

In addition, there can also be some benefits in terms of reliability, security, ease of access and general anti-censorship for the supported project. Which are desirable things for AirVPNs Mission.

To see all of the projects AirVPN currently supports, please visit the Mission page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask .

    Hello!

    I note the change:

So everything below the 1 year plans, do not get the discount anymore.

It's still weird to me, that the birthday celebrations still aren't the ones with the biggest and widest discounts. Seems more worthy to me .

    Happy birthday.

    Hello!

    Thank you.

It's a subject of frequent frustration, so I've highlighted past threads which should help spread the word.

I can recommend reading Staff's post and the one immediately after it, regarding servers supposedly being marked.

    Updated:
Noted release of 2.11.15 version of Eddie Added instructions from Khariz and ~Daniel~ on Torrenting with Tixati. Added info on free trials, which I assume to be correct: "Trials have unlimited data and full speed. But you can only get a refund if you have used less than 5GB". Added info on Glasnost tests for testing traffic shaping. Thanks to giganerd. Not so much in this update, as I just wanted to make some quick edits due to 2.11.15 being released.

    Hello!

We are starting to publish "transparency mission reports" to add information and clarifications about the reasons of our support to projects, persons and NGOs. While the organic summary, as well as the mission statements, remains in https://airvpn.org/mission page, the reports will provide important explanations and insights.

Our first report, covering the first five 2019 months, has just been published here:

    Hello!

I thought it was time to try and collect some of the wisdom floating around and see if we can't create a single thread for solving some of the most common and annoying repeat-issues. So how about it !

I define "common problems" as: if I'm getting a deja-vu every third time I post . Staff will have broken the Matrix by this point.

Each problem will have its own headline and then with any number of solution-oriented links appended underneath. For this reason, this grand list isn't final and is meant to be updated continually.

Naturally, the higher the link number for a solution, the more obscure the solutions are probably getting.

If you use IPv6 and have the Privacy Extensions off (which I doubt highly), yes, but inevitably only for the AirVPN server. The last half of an IPv6 address is called the Interface Identifier which consists of your MAC address and a FF:FE in the middle of it:
    Interface Identifier = ::E123:45FF:FE67:89AB, which means, MAC = E1:23:45:67:89:AB.
The mentioned Privacy Extensions simply generate a random identifier. If they're used, no one will know the MAC address through IPv6 except for the fact that you use them (FF:FE is replaced with randoms as well).

The MAC address as part of the TCP/IP protocol stack is only known in your local network. It's not even sent anywhere over your ISP connection, so no worries there.

They are two completely different things. Sorry, but how did you come to this question? You must've heard or read something somewhere.

Unless you're breaking into someone's network that's not yours, I see absolutely no benefit from it because, as I wrote, it's used in your local network only.

Oh, and for 5) in reference to Mr. LZ1, even without NetLock. NetLock just gives you peace of mind that everything is sent through the tunnel and blocked otherwise. Not every use case needs this.

    Hello!

We're very glad to inform you that twelve new 1 Gbit/s servers located in Alblasserdam (Netherlands) are available: Aljanah, Alpheratz, Aspidiske, Capella, Eltanin, Larawag, Melnick, Muhlifain, Piscium, Scuti, Suhail, Tiaki.

The AirVPN client will show automatically the new servers. If you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access them through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator").

The servers accept connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 1194, 2018 UDP and TCP.

Just like every other "second generation" Air server, they support OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH, TLS 1.2 and tls-crypt.

Full IPv6 support is included as well.

As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.

Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue.

LZ1 got a reaction from serverless in What do you think of the new site design? (Welcome to report any bugs/odd behavior)   ...
    Hello!
After scheduled downtime, the AirVPN website design has changed substantially.
What are your thoughts about the new design?
I can definitely say there's some fancy new additions that make some things a little smoother, even if it's tempting to want an "old.airvpn.org" site😄.
Possible to "Recommend" posts and not just mark them as the solution. The design is more flat and the colors seem brighter overall.  There's some tags which no longer work in signatures, but still in posts.  There's now a reminder for unregistered users that they'll need to have their posts approved, before their posts are visible. More captchas it seems.  The location of various information has been moved, such as with the top bar and your sign-in location. More use of drop-down menus.  Profile settings options have been moved around, but seemingly remain largely the same.  Some better moderator UI facilities.  Apparently the AirVPN support departments like "Support", "Feedback" and others, have been combined into one single unit.  Everything in the Client Area is now a top-down sort of affair. The FAQ sub-forum was changed, so that it has its own place under the "Home" menu.
