Thanks, That's a good explanation and clears things up. I honestly thought anything RU had been wiped from the face of the Western world.

Have seen this as well on YouTube, most likely incorrect geolocation routing. There are a couple of posts here already on this topic: https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/53540-german-server-amazon-thinks-im-in-denmark/?do=findComment&comment=196044

    Eddie - dark theme

Is it in any way possible to implement a dark or a black theme inside Eddie-client, it is quite annoying to have dark theme on other programs and have very bright and pretty white program blasting at your eyes during nightly sessions. At least Android beta version has this - are there any plans for such a feature or is it relegated to future client software. BTW after testing other vpn-providers which provide their own client programs I do think that Eddie is the best in features and interface among privacy preserving vpn-software.

    Eddie Desktop Edition 2.21.6 released

These features aren't specific and only for OpenVPN, these settings are implemented and handled through Eddie itself. Even my backup VPN has "network lock, inside tunnel, kill switch," etc, and that backup VPN isn't based on OpenVPN infrastructure nor does it use Eddie or Air services. If the results from the above links are fine, then you are worrying about something that will never change. All the features you are worried about work on OVPN and WG. Its Eddie that controls those features, not OpenVPN. Hope that helps and gives clarity.

About 2+ years ago I paid for Air VPN upon the recommendation of many people. I've used 10+ VPNs and this one is my favorite so far. I saw the Halloween deal and decided to buy another 3 years, which is only like $65. I would have topped off another 9+ years if I wasn't trying to save some money. Air VPN for the win!

Geolocation error, most likely. An IP address doesn't tell one where it's coming from geographically, so services exist to track data about IPs, like ISP and country where it's registered. It's a cumbersome job to ask the registration authorities for this information all the time, so it's done on occasion and saved in databases linking addresses to a geographic location, or geolocation. Access to these databases is then offered to the public, ready to be used in any way. Bang, business case, money flowing. If you're big enough, you'll be doing this yourself, like Amazon or Google. Keeping up-to-date with 4 billion IPv4 addresses and… a tremendous amount of IPv6 prefixes is difficult, so all these databases don't necessarily offer the most up-to-date information. As written, requesting information is done on occasion. Ergo, some info can become obsolete. Bang, geolocation error.

    ovpn

I'm late to the party here. I've been using Airvpn for a few years now, without any complaint. But At times I need a server that at least looks as if it is in Australia. I'd been using Mullvad for a while, but lately it has been very slow on its Australia servers and also any google search - yes, I sometimes defect to the darkside - throws up captcha. I've tried various work arounds with no success. I was then looking for another vpn with Australian servers. I looked at Surfshark and Nord (they are the same company apparently), but they rent servers and while they look good on paper, offered way more than I needed. I then came upon OVPN. They own their own servers, the servers are diskless, the speeds in Oz are not too bad and I do not get the captchas or Oz www sites saying I am somewheres else (as occurs with Mullvad - it seems to have a DNS issue). On android they seem stable and OK. They implement wiregard, but the apps - for android and also Ubuntu are not well developed. The crypto suite they use is off the shelf but seems industry standard, possibly at the upper end of secure. The problem is the more I look into OVPN as a company, I just feel uneasy. They are a very small company. It seems there is only a few people involved. One of the founders has said he is "self-taught". Although they have fought and won a court case, it does not seem their apps are independently audited or publicly available. And so, it all just seems too good. Anyway, in short: - so far the mobile and desktop apps have functions fine, but their functionality is limited. - the speeds are OK and stable. - the lack of public auditing is problematic. Should you give OVPN a try? Well, that's up to you. But I probably would not do my banking via its vpn until I see a bit more info. Maybe I am being too suspicious.

    AirVPN vs ProtonVPN.

With all due respect for an old time customer like you, comparing AirVPN with ExpressVPN is an insult we can't accept. ExpressVPN has always been perfectly aware that one of its executives was an American intelligence operative who helped UAE human rights hostile government in cracking operations. We do agree with Edward Snowden when he says that you must not use ExpressVPN. Incidentally, ExpressVPN is now part of a big group that, throughout the past decade, was an adware based business with shady privacy practices.
