Client won't connect in Linux mint - due to not using resolv.conf?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm trying to connect using an older version of mint (maya 13) due to having problems getting newer versions working with my monitor setup. I have had this working ok before without the client, but would like to use the client this time.

I can login, but not connect. The log files suggest it is due to resolv.conf not existing:

And looking in /etc, it doesn't. Apparently with version 13 onwards of Linux mint, resolv.conf is not being used, but resolvconf and dnsmasq is being used instead.

I'm using the deb install file for the AirVPN client. Have I doagnosed this correctly and how would I fix it?

Thanks

Hello!

Perhaps you should check out the latest experimental version of the Eddie client and see if that works. I think there was a similar resolve issue on Fedora, but it got resolved(pun soooo intended), so maybe you'll benefit too. Just go to where you normally download the client .

Hello!

When /etc/resolv.conf does not exist Eddie DNS Switch Mode "Renaming" can't work. On top of that, Eddie will send a SIGTERM to OpenVPN and give up everything. This particular case will be covered starting with Eddie 2.11.4 beta (due to be released during this week), where /etc/resolv.conf handling will be greatly improved.

Kind regards
