Kepler_452b 77 Posted ... Thanks for getting this fixed quickly! Looks like it happened in the middle of the night when you were sleeping. Also a suggestion: once you know there's a system-wide problem, post it PROMINENTLY somewhere on the site. That way people know you're aware of it and are working on a repair. That will save a lot of users ANGST AND TIME trying to figure out why their AirVPN connection isn't working. That would also prevent dozens of similar posts saying "mine isn't working". PS, I know you don't have much experience with system-wide problems because they happen very rarely ; ) Cheers. 1 go558a83nk reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post
LZ1 672 Posted ... Hello !I see that despite posting the identical post in that other thread and therefore praising the Staff twice, you apparently still don't trust them enough to notice your post, unless you make a thread eh, haha. Must be heartbreaking for Staff . I suspect they'd say they "don't need no prominence" if topic-starters would simply do a better job of marking the solution which works; which in many cases, appeared even on page 1 of their threads.TL;DR: A "Keep Calm & check Yo tunnels" banner on the right would likely be more or less equally effective lol. No amount of prominence will matter during a panic attack. Quote Hide LZ1's signature Hide all signatures Hi there, are you new to AirVPN? Many of your questions are already answered in this guide. Kepler_452b 77 Posted ... Actually I wasn't sure how often the Staff monitors the thread posts. Also I didn't see anyone actually thanking them for their work...I thought a post in suggestions where it would be seen would be appropriate. Quote Share this post Link to post
LZ1 672 Posted ... Oh you didn't get the memo? Staff is omnipresent, didn't you know? They see and hear everything. A lot of the time they just observe. Waiting to strike, when no one is watching. But they're there. They love their silence though . We thank them all the time! Why do you think you can't PM the Staff account? Because if we could, they'd get DDoS'd by the sheer number of love letters from all their fans <3It was a nice gesture OP; I'm sure Staff appreciates it! LZ1 672 Posted ... I do agree - I just doubt it's that easy in practice . The solution thing is nice, since it displays the solution at the top of the thread, immediately. So at the very least, I think it's a part of the solution. I just don't have much hope for it(the announcement thing), when sticky threads routinely get ignored, by the looks of it. I don't mind trying of course! . It would be helpful if people besides the OP could sometimes also select the mark solution. Kepler_452b 77 Posted ... I think it would be easy for STAFF in practice to post PROMINENTLY - a brief statement that there is a problem- that it is being worked on- if possible a rough best guess when it will be resolved- if known a temporary work-around Posts from users would be "in addition to". But posts from STAFF would be far more reassuring and clearly STAFF are in the best position to know what's actually going on. If users can't find their way to the prominent posting, well, "you can lead a horse to water, etc."...then its the user's problem. But at least the STAFF will have done the responsible and reassuring thing and will have saved users a lot of sturm, drang and wasted hours trying to troubleshoot their systems. Staff 9972 Posted ... I think it would be easy for STAFF in practice to post PROMINENTLY - a brief statement that there is a problem- that it is being worked on This is and has been routinely done for years through the proper forum and the Twitter and Facebook accounts (although, as you say, luckily it was rarely necessary) but today something went wrong for a series of unfortunate events. Anyway, downtime for Eddie client did not exceed 10 hours, and there was no infrastructure inherent problem (this was the main cause of the unusual reaction delay). Kind regards 1 Kepler_452b reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post
Kepler_452b 77 Posted ... Thanks for the clarification. Glad to know that is your policy. In the time I've been using Air, I've never experienced a systemic problem. It's taken me a while to come to the following conclusion because there's so many VPNs around spewing hype, but I'm convinced Air is the best both in technical proficiency and in genuine commitment to privacy. Molto Grazia Cheers. Quote Share this post Link to post
