ANSWERED Port Forwarding Not Working Docker
rockman193 posted a topic in Troubleshooting and Problems
Okay so I'm trying to port forward plex and qbittorrent but testing it using Airvpn returns " Connection timed out (110) " and using https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ tells me that both ports are closed. The setup I have is a bit complicated since Plex and Qbittorrent are running in docker along with an openvpn-client to connect to Airvpn. Docker is running in vm using Fedora CoreOS and the vm is running on a machine with a Fedora Server. I tried different ports, rebooting the machines and temporarily disabling the firewall on the vm and host but its still no working. Also, I'm behind a carrier grade nat but to my understanding that should not affect port forwarding using Airvpn, right? So not exactly sure were the problem is. -
I have installed and got AirVPN working great on Windows 10. I have a Plex media server on the same pc but the Plex remote connection goes through the VPN. I want it to go outside the VPN and all other traffic on the pc go through the VPN. I have been able to get Plex to connect when the VPN is disconnected and I have also been able to get Plex to connect while VPN is connected but traffic goes through the VPN. I want to be able to connect to the VPN but all Plex traffic to travel outside the VPN. I need help!

Hi, First of all, I want to express thanks to anyone who can help me. I also want to mention I've looked at these posts and they seem to have different problems compared to the one I have: https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/5070-port-forwarding-with-plex-server/#5072 https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/6503-setup-airvpn-to-work-with-plex-media-server/ https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/26233-having-issues-with-plex-and-airvpn/ The problem I'm having with plex is consistent around the network adapter that airvpn uses. I've tested my port forward and it is reachable when plex is running so I know that part work. I've also port forwarded for my torrent client and that works too. The issue I'm having is plex won't detect the correct network adapter (TAP-Windows Adapter V9). I'm not sure what to do at this point. I've turned off port forwarding on my router like I'm supposed to since I'm using airvpn to port forward but if I turn off the VPN and turn my router port forward back on it works again. I've tried manually selecting a network adapter in plex but the only one that appears is my ethernet adapter. Is there any way around this? (like forcing plex to use that adapter somehow?) or is it possible I'm looking at this problem the wrong way? Thanks in advance!

Ok so Ive been having problems with remote access in plex, read countless posts and followed the suggestions but to no avail can anyone help? I have portforwarded within the airvpn client area using 32400 as the local port, tcp check came back green, no port forward on the router. Remote access will still not work. Public IP address showing in plex settings is that of my current airvpn connection, port number is that designated in the client area. I feel like this should be working and i cant think why it isn't. Anyone got any suggestions, i feel like i'm losing my mind. thanks in advance, james

Hello dear fellow consumers of AirVPN, I recently bought an AirVPN pass to be a little more safe. I want to use Plex media server also. After trying to get Plex working with AIrVPN yesterday's night for almost 5 hours I couldn't make it. Today it's working (or is it??). My setup: - On Plex --> Settings --> Server "Manually forward Port to: 32400" - Router (fritzbox 7360): "My PC --> Port forwarding to 32400 (active)" . On AirVPN: Port forwarding to 32400 So. 1. The thing is: I don't really think I am really connected to the VPN, because I'm downloading atm, but download traffic on AirVPN main window is 0. 2. Also the port forwarding in the AirVPN section has the yellow light (Ip reachable on real network). 3. Furthermore the Ethernet 3 Adaptor on my windows machine says "No Ipv4 connectivity" but is connected. 4. Remote access on plex is ACTIVE and WORKING! SO MY FINAL QUESTION REGARDING ALL THIS IS: Did I finally get it working or am I just simply not connected to the VPN and it's working because of this? I've no idea after all I've done. Could anybody please enlighten my metaphorical darkness? Very kind regards Follow_and18

So basically never used a VPN before, googled and found Airvpn works with plex! YAY! When using plex, it will show as not reachable outside my network, unless I click retry on the port then it works. Strangest part is even when it says not reachable it works. I am now trying to use network lock and plex will flat out not work. I think as far as i am aware have my port forwarded correctly. I have picked a port thats avaliable and then picked the local port as the one plex normally uses and put the one airvpn gave me into plex.

The new default Network Lock breaks Plex media server connection to the web. The ports do not successfully forward. I have to revert back to Windows firewall mode for the ports to successfully forward. Is there a way that I can get Plex to work with the new Network lock or should I using firewall mode instead?

Hi! I'm having trouble using Plex with air vpn. I just want to use plex to cast video to my chromecast in the living room but I need to have air vpn closed for that. If I have my vpn on and try to open the server interface I get the blue wheel of death saying "connecting", but it never does. What do I need to do to get Plex working with air vpn for this kind of use?

My hardward/firmware: Router ModelLinksys WRT 1200AC Firmware VersionDD-WRT v3.0-r28788 std (01/13/16)Kernel VersionLinux 3.18.25 #59 SMP Mon Jan 11 11:48:34 CET 2016 armv7l My goal: To open ports 8000 and 8001 on my router to allow shoutcast server to livestream from static ip 192.168.10.172 on the network. Hi, After reading https://airvpn.org/external_link/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dd-wrt.com%2Fwiki%2Findex.php%2FIptables_command%23Port_Forwarding_to_a_specific_LAN_IP and also being told that the GUI interface only forwards from WAN to LAN and not from TUN to LAN... it seems this is my last obstacle to streaming with Shoutcast. I still haven't been able to get IPTABLES to work for me yet. I tried different variations of the commands, but nothing worked for me... then I didn't know if I was putting the right information into the variables. Has anyone with this or similar dd-wrt set up successfully added open ports to your router firewall using IPTABLES? If so, can I see how your commands look? Currently, all I have for my firewall commands are, Firewall iptables -I FORWARD -i br0 -o tun0 -j ACCEPT iptables -I FORWARD -i tun0 -o br0 -j ACCEPT iptables -I INPUT -i tun0 -j REJECT iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o tun0 -j MASQUERADE What else should be there to open port 8000 and 8001 to the static IP listed above? Thanks for any help and directions.

I've been trying to set my plex server up on a windows machine to be visible outside my network. I've tried port forwards on the client page, the airVPN-configured router, and through the windows firewall. What am I missing to make plex visible through the VPN? note: I have another non-VPN router which allows the plex server out... but I want to keep the windows machine on the VPN router all the time. Any suggestions?

I swear I have searched and am unable to find a solution there or on my own. Issue: I have Plex server running on an Ubuntu 15.10 machine and had ports in my router and airvpn configured where it has been working for quite some time. it recently all stopped. I am unable to get plex to properly connect again. Config: Ubuntu 15.10 using OpenVPN to connect to airvpn service. AirVPN using random external port, currently 63525 to local port 32400. Router configured to pass external 32400 to internal 32400. No firewall configured in ubuntu. Errors: Plex will not conenct: Private 172.16.1.10 : 32400 <-- Public 94.100.23.163 : 63525 X Internet. Whenb clicking check under TCP test in AirVPN client area I get error 110 connection time out. Thank you for any help.

Oh boy, not sure what I did. So recently I switched from PIA (Private Internet Access) to AirVPN because I needed the ability to access my PLEX server remotely when my VPN was enabled. I was able to set this up correctly however for some reason, I am unable to access my media library now. My files are sitting on a synology NAS connected to my network. Are there any other settings I need to do so that when I access PLEX and AirVPN is enabled, it will be able to browse my network storage? Also, I enabled network lock after reading what it is used for. Soon after, I ran into some issues so I disabled it to perform some debugging. Unfortunately, even though it is disabled, when I close AirVPN, I am unable to access the internet from my server. As soon as I turn on AirVPN, my connection restores. I tried to restart to flush the setting but no luck. I bit off more than I can chew apparently. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I attached some screenshots I thought would be helpful. If there are any other details needed, please let me know. Thank you in advance!

I've searched and tried everything and I can't get anything to work. Here's my setup. I have the Verizon Fios Actiontec router with a Asus RT-N16 as a secondary router with Tomato installed. The Asus is on a different subnet than the Actiontec and the Asus connects to AirVPN. I run everything through the second router which connects to AirVPN. I tried setting up forwarding the ports on AirVPN to have my Plex server visible through the VPN, but nothing. Most of the setups I see with Plex connect with the software client. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hello! ubuntu 14.04LTS Is there a simple way to bypass the vpn for plex or rather a specific port? I need a direct connection to my dedicated server for plex. Any help is very much appreciated. Thx! edit: I found a simple solution for ubuntu. Now, I use an ubuntu lxc-container for everything that I want to do with AirVPN (openvpn). The main system does not connect to AirVPN, thus I can easily establish a direct connection with my plex server. I know this should be possible with firewall rules and routes, but this is a good option for me.

I am having trouble port forwarding. I go to the ports page, leave all the fields blanks, add a port, then Check the port. This is what comes back: "Not reachable on server IP over the external port 32665, tcp protocol. Error : 110 - Connection timed out" I have tried multiple ports, disconnect and reconnecting, changing settings in my router...nothing works. My goal is to set up a Port Forward for Plex Media Server, is this possible with AirVPN?
