Hi, My Mullvad expired and since they removed their port forwarding feature, I decided to try AirVPN. I have a linux mint machine with qbittorrent-nox installed on a 1Gbps/1Gbps fiber connection with a Pfsense router. With Mullvad when they had port forwarding, I used to get an average of 400mbps down and 250mbps up when torrenting linux isos. Without port forwarding my upload was more around 60mbps. With AirVPN, I get an average of 25/20mbps. The max I managed to get was 56mbps down with only a really high seed count torrent and no seeding. When I speed test I get pretty good results: 450/350mbps. It's the torrenting part that atrocious. The speeds mentioned above are when I use Wireguard. I tried OVPN with UDP and TCP. Both yield pretty much the same results: 25/20mbps while torrenting and 120/100 mbps for speed tests. I tried multiple servers in Toronto, Montreal and the US East Coast. The numbers above are from the best results I managed to obtain the rest are worst. I tried using Eddie and using Wireguard directly, but there was no measurable difference. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it. I still have 2 days out of the 3 days subscription to see if I can fix it. Thank you

I just purchased an AirVPN plan and set up the WireGuard connection to replace a Mullvad one. The connection operates in a separate namespace (just like the Mullvad one before it). I have port forwarding enabled, and when testing the port on my AirVPN profile page, it says the port is open. However, my rtorrent client seems unable to connect to any of the trackers. Tracepath shows timeouts to some sites, but e.g. grabbing a kernel tarball works just fine. Setup, route and MTU seem okay to me. # ip netns exec wireguard wg show interface: wg0 public key: <snip> private key: (hidden) listening port: 51727 peer: <snip> preshared key: (hidden) endpoint: <snip> allowed ips: 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0 latest handshake: 1 minute, 20 seconds ago transfer: 142.67 MiB received, 7.39 MiB sent persistent keepalive: every 15 seconds # ip -n wireguard route default dev wg0 scope link # ip -n wireguard a s 1: lo: <LOOPBACK> mtu 65536 qdisc noop state DOWN group default qlen 1000 link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00 6: wg0: <POINTOPOINT,NOARP,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1320 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000 link/none inet 10.xxx.xxx.xxx/32 scope global wg0 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever A tracepath for e.g. Redacted's tracker will show just fine but rtorrent shows only tracker timeouts; it doesn't even seem to try to update the tracker when I tell it to do so manually. Hop times are high though (routing through Canada from Europe). # ip netns exec wireguard tracepath flacsfor.me 1?: [LOCALHOST] pmtu 1320 1: 10.128.0.1 108.463ms 1: 10.128.0.1 108.575ms 2: 184.75.221.169 108.081ms 3: te0-0-1-19.222.ccr31.yyz02.atlas.cogentco.com 108.469ms 4: be3260.ccr22.ymq01.atlas.cogentco.com 116.587ms 5: be2976.ccr21.ymq01.atlas.cogentco.com 115.585ms asymm 4 6: be2182.ccr41.ams03.atlas.cogentco.com 195.332ms 7: be2182.ccr41.ams03.atlas.cogentco.com 195.868ms asymm 6 8: be3433.rcr21.ams06.atlas.cogentco.com 195.476ms asymm 7 9: worldstream.demarc.cogentco.com 196.031ms asymm 8 10: 185.165.241.225 197.348ms reached Resume: pmtu 1320 hops 10 back 10 Kernel tarball pulls in fine e.g.: # ip netns exec wireguard wget https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v6.x/linux-6.4.7.tar.xz --2023-07-29 10:42:50-- https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v6.x/linux-6.4.7.tar.xz Resolving cdn.kernel.org (cdn.kernel.org)... 151.101.125.176, 2a04:4e42:1e::432 Connecting to cdn.kernel.org (cdn.kernel.org)|151.101.125.176|:443... connected. If my Qbittorent is set up so that it only uses the TAP-9 adapter and my AIRVPN IP can I still leak my IP and get a possible DMCA? When I was setting Qbittorent up with AIRVPN it took me a while to get it to properly connect to just the VPN and nothing else but I am still paranoid as I have received DMCA's before. I have Qbittorent restricted to only use the IP Airvpn gave me and only have it set to allow the TAP-9 adapter but can I still leak?

Hello! I thought it was time to try and collect some of the wisdom floating around and see if we can't create a single thread for solving some of the most common and annoying repeat-issues. So how about it ! I define "common problems" as: if I'm getting a deja-vu every third time I post . Staff will have broken the Matrix by this point. Each problem will have its own headline and then with any number of solution-oriented links appended underneath. For this reason, this grand list isn't final and is meant to be updated continually. Naturally, the higher the link number for a solution, the more obscure the solutions are probably getting. Warning: solutions aren't guaranteed. Hi; Just started using AirVPN couple of days a go and have been reading forums and googeling answers to my problems, but: My torrenting speed is very low. I started with 50Kb/s and by fixing all I could find I was able to get up to 200-600Kb/s to download. Upload is always little bit higher(?). If I close my torrent client, speed is back up to 20-30Mb/s. About normal what I get. I have tried with different clients (uTorrnet and qBittorrent) and no difference. No restrictons for download speed on client. So far I tried also to: - connecting to different servers and countries - using different protocols - Increase buffer size to 256k - I have forwarded port for the client I also tried to change systemsetup to obtain DNS server automaticly, but had to change it back after I found out my DNS was leaking and had to set it to fixed Comodo server. This how ever didn´t have any effect to torrenting speed. Relating to DNS leak problem, I have Network Lock on and I fixed the WebRTC detection problem on my Firefox problem but still DNS was leaking. This was the only way I was able to fix it as I didn´t understand the instructions on DNSleaktest.com Any advise what to try next? Could it still be that my ISP is slowing me down? Hello everybody, i suscribed few days ago to airvpn and i'm looking for a solution to make an "ip binding" system to prevent connection to internet when the VPN is offline. The point is that i read a lot of informations about the network locker and windows firewall, but i only have Gdata firewall (i don't know if it's good to launch two firewalls at the same time...) I don't really have a brillant computering knowledge si i'm kind of lost with all theses procedures. can you help me with this ? I specially want ipbinding when i'm using utorrent, to avoid data sharing when my public IP can me seen by everybody.. thank you a lot

Hello everyone! When I requested a three-day trial of AirVPN's service in September 2013 I was testing a number of VPN clients (e.g. the Air client (which was the very bad condition client, not Eddie), OpenVPN GUI, Viscosity). I too searched the internet for methods to stop torrent programs from working - or at least to block their traffic - when the connection to a VPN breaks. There were some open source programs from SourceForge I tried out and some "commercial" programs I downloaded from TPB to test them out. Most of them simply terminate the processes of torrent clients and relaunch them when a VPN connection is reestablished. I used Viscosity first. Cool client, no problems, stable. But it costs $10. I was just about to purchase it because I didn't find anything better when I used DuckDuckGo again and found an even cooler client: SecurePoint SSL VPN SecurePoint is a german IT security company based in Lüneburg. It's therefore made in Germany. I don't know any user numbers, I just know that it's open source and somehow unknown to many of those using VPN services. In the pictures german localization is used. Don't panic! When you download and install the client, you can choose english as well. When you open the client, a small overview of your connections will be shown with one-click abilities to start your preconfigured profiles. To import a .ovpn file, click on the gear in the bottom right corner > Import. Select your .crypt or .ovpn file, set a profile name in Import as (filename or a name of your choice) and click import. Basically, you can now click on the left square of your new configuration and start the connection. That's it! Thank you for reading.. There are also the client settings which let you enable startup with Windows, add/delete TAP adapters, configure proxy and more. The contect menu of every connection will look like this. Quick Edit and Settings will open the configuration of your selected profile. If you need a GUI for changing the configuration, use Settings. Quick Edit will provide a small editor window in which you can manually edit the .ovpn file. Doing changes here will of course update the GUI version as well. The GUI settings will start with an option to autostart the selected profile after client launch and the abilities to rename the profile and delete stored authentication data (usernames/passwords). The Advanced button opens up the advanced settings (who knew?). As I wrote earlier, this is the GUI for configuring the .ovpn file, any change here will be written into the file itself. If you don't know what these do, I recommend to not touch any settings in General and OS tabs unless you are told to do so by someone here on the forums. Just take a look at the Scripts tab. The client will execute any file or command you enter here before/after connection and disconnection and when errors occur. As it was pointed out in this thread, this is a built-in feature of OpenVPN and therefore guaranteed to work (I mean, they will trigger; it's up to you if the command/file can actually be executed successfully, try it out first!). In client version 2 the Remote tab was introduced. It allows you to quickly enter more IPs you want the client to connect to. In the Advanced tab selecting Random host will cause the client to connect randomly to one of the IPs in the Remote list (and will, of course, update the .ovpn file accordingly). SecurePoint SSL-VPN is open source and can be found on GitHub. v2.0.15 uses OpenVPN v2.3.7 but all the binaries can be manually updated by just replacing them in the client's directory. You can download the client from SourceForge. In the past it was able to also freely download it from SecurePoint's servers, however, now a registration as a reseller is required. [h3]How to manually update used OpenVPN/SSL/LZO versions Download the newest installer for Windows, create a new directory on your desktop and let the installer copy the files into it. In the component selection of the installation, select OpenVPN User-Space Components only. Then you just copy openvpn.exe and all DLL files you see into the bin directory of Securepoint. Make sure to diconnect first since openvpn.exe is used. Then just reconnect and you will see that Securepoint uses new versions of OpenVPN and libraries. Thank you for reading!

ANSWERED Mac configuration for various VPN purposes
doveoriginal posted a topic in General & Suggestions
Hi AirVPN community! I am completely new to the world of VPN's and I find it quite difficult to understand some topics. I invested a lot of time in reading through the threads already and I read about a 70 year-old, among others, having the same difficulties as I do in some areas. I believe that the constellation of my "needs" is quite unique, which is why I started a new topic. I hope that this is not a problem for the moderators. Maybe it would be best to list my issues and what I understood from the comments in the forum. When I decided to buy VPN access, it came down to wanting: to be able to browse the internet for (political and other) news, do research, etc. anonymously, especially since the revelations about the NSA, etc. spying on everybody.to be able to use streaming services, VoD, etc. from various countriessecurity when doing monetary transactions (ebay, paypal, amazon, online-banking)anonymity coupled with speed for torrenting Now, from various threads in the forums I got to the following conclusions: For anonymity, don't mix identities - so while I am torrenting, I should not be on any social network.VPN's protect me when doing monetary transactionsI should configure my connections in a way to protect myself while torrenting in case of loss of connections, so my real identity does not get revealed, even if it is only for a couple of seconds. My questions and problems are the following: I am using a Mac running Mavericks and currently I use Tunnelblick. Should I stick with it or should I try the AirVPN Beta software for Mac? What are the benefits/disadvantages compared to Tunnelblick?Which countries/servers are the best for:Banking, Amazon, eBay, etc.?Torrenting?Surfing the web and doing research without needing to be paranoid? Before I can download the OpenVPN configurations for Mac I first need to choose various things in the Config Generator, such as continent OR country OR single server, etc. Later, it gives me more detailed options which I don't understand (connection modes, UCP, TCP, SSH, SSL, which ports to use, proxy, separate keys/certs, resolved hosts, bundle executables, etc.). I do understand some of the uses, but I get confused when needing to choose for my respective purposes. For the above-listed needs, what should I consider?Although I read quite a lot about the topic, I do not understand how to protect my connection when the connection to the VPN is lost temporarily while torrenting. I hope I explained my situation well enough and I am sorry if my questions seem stupid to persons more knowledgeable than me. I would be very happy to receive some suggestions, and, ideally, solutions to my problems. Thank you very much -
I used to run a non-exit Tor relay when I used Riseup VPN and had no problems. However, with AirVPN I get the error message: [Mon 9. Sep 13:53:18 2013] Server Port Reachability Test Failed - Your relay's server port is not reachable by other Tor clients. This can happen if you are behind a router or firewall that requires you to set up port forwarding. If <Air IP>:443 is not your correct IP address and server port, please check your relay's configuration. Can I use the port forwarding feature on this website to solve this problem? I'd like to support the Tor network. Can I use that same port to speed up my torrenting? Do I do that by entering the number of the port into uTorrent's settings?

Hi ! I am happy returning customer and intend to use AirVPN mostly for torrenting... In order to avoid admins headaches and them being forced to respond to complaints from whoever they come from, which server locations are best for torrenting ? Thanks ;-)
