  1. Hey, I read the thread, but didn't see an explanation for how the out-tunnel speeds are calculated. I am under the impression that the Eddie client (Windows 7 x64) forces all internet bound traffic to go via the VPN tunnel. Then how does the website bypass it? I am curious whether other apps (installed on my pc) can also choose to bypass the tunnel... Btw, ipleak.net shows no dns leaks (not sure if that matters)
  2. I tend to stream animes/tv shows. The hosts for these shows tend to be mp4upload.com, videonest, auengine, 4streaming.net etc. Point being, there are multiple such hosts. I have a 4Mbps connection. Irrespective of whether I am connected to the VPN or not, I get between 1-2 Mbps speeds when streaming. If I instead try streaming from vimeo.com or youtube.com, i get proper 4Mbps speeds. Initially I thought my local ISP was throttling them, but then the VPN should be able to help me bypass the throttling right? There is also the remote possibility that these hosts are facing bandwidth issues at the same time. I would like to paste a few video urls (anime episode links for each of the mentioned hosts) hoping to gather feedback on whether other users are also facing speed issues, but I am not sure whether its allowed in this forum?
  3. @gigan3rd thanks, added them to feedly
  4. Hi, a few suggestions, - Visit the page https://airvpn.org/client/, it lists your active connections. The way AirVPN is setup, if you connect to the same server/port/protocol combination from two separate devices simultaneously, the client will demonstrate the behaviour you mentioned. The suggested solution is to either vary one of the three parameters, ie either connect to a different servers, or use different ports or use different protocol. - I once experienced the same issue even though there was only one connection listed. I don't really remember how it got resolved. I think I restarted my computer and then tried connecting to servers I hadn't connected to before using different port/protocol combinations. And I think it just worked Bottomline, try connecting to a different server using a different port. EDIT: you didn't mention which version of the AirVPN client are you using. I would recommend installing Eddie (https://airvpn.org/windows_ex/).
  5. Thanks. Will keep that in mind the next time around
  6. If I remember correctly, I read somewhere in the forums that AirVPN allows three simultaneous connections. However I think there was a catch about the connections needing to connect to three separate servers. Could someone please clarify what is the exact stand? My issue is I am unable to browse via Hadar (Hongkong) server from both my laptop and desktop simultaneously. On the Windows desktop, the Eddie client automatically disconnects after a short while and auto connects to the recommended server (which usually happens to be in Netherlands.) The Tunnelblick client on the laptop, it connects to Hadar, but webpages don't seem to open. If I disconnect and connect to a different server, all works properly.
  7. Instead of Electra and Kuma, I suppose it should read Dheneb and Hoedus?
  8. You can download the Windows client from the url: https://airvpn.org/windows_ex/. The Linux client url is https://airvpn.org/linux_ex/. They don't have Eddie released for Mac yet.
  9. I noticed that the client had already created a Scheduled Task to auto start the client. I had to change two things to get it to work. - Changed the trigger from `At System Startup` to `At Logon; Any User`. - Changed the action from `Start notepad` to `Start <path to AirVPN.exe>`
  10. Hmm, I am pretty sure the dns servers weren't hardcoded in the adapters (the values were gray). Anyway restarting the laptop fixed the issue ... All's good. Any thoughts on why netflix.com won't even open? I visited other sites like hulu.com, abc.co, pandora, comedycentral etc and they all open and fuction properly.
  11. Hmm... I restarted my machine and seems everything is working now! All this was done before I read your reply... - Off the three network cards shown under Network Preferences, only the Wifi one is active. The Bluetooth PAN and Thunderbolt Bridge are shown as not connected. The Wifi adapter is set to fetch DNS from DHCP. When I view the DNS tab for this card, I see the google dns values (in gray). Googling a bit tells me that these gray values were not manually set and instead were fetched from the DHCP. - The Tunnelblick is configured to "Set Nameservers" for the AirVPN connection. - Now when I connect to the VPN, it is able to properly set the DNS values to 10.4.0.1. Visiting ipleak.net doesn't show the Google servers, it instead show a netherland based server (even though I connected to Asia and my current ip is a signapore based one.) - Hulu works properly. However some websites don't seem to load at all. For eg Netflix. When open netflix.com, the tab is stuck at waiting for netflix.com nslookup returns the following ➜ ~ nslookup netflix.com Server: 10.4.0.1 Address: 10.4.0.1#53 Name: netflix.com Address: 69.53.236.17 - I disconnected and reconnected the VPN a few more times. The DNS kept switching between Google and non Google as expected. But each time while the VPN was connected, I couldn't open netflix.com. QUESTIONS - Any thoughts what's happening? - Where can I find the mac client? I found the windows client at http://airvpn.org/windows_ex. Is there a similar url for the mac client? - In the interim are you suggesting I hardcode the DNS server address to 10.4.0.1 even when I am not connected to the vpn? Will that even work? Thanks in advance, Amith
  12. The router has the Google DNS hardcoded in it. If I don't explicitly set a dns in my network adapter, it will use the router's DNS which is the Google DNS. I have setup Tunnelblick as mentioned in AirVPN's guide. I had to additionally enable the Tunnelblick setting to force all traffic through the VPN. That apart I haven't changed any setting. On connecting to the VPN the following is the Tunnelblick log 2014-06-03 00:48:22 *Tunnelblick: OS X 10.9.3; Tunnelblick 3.4beta26 (build 3828) 2014-06-03 00:48:22 *Tunnelblick: Attempting connection with AirVPN Asia UDP 443 using shadow copy; Set nameserver = 1; monitoring connection 2014-06-03 00:48:22 *Tunnelblick: openvpnstart start AirVPN\ Asia\ UDP\ 443.tblk 1337 1 0 1 0 17200 -ptADGNWradsgnw 2.3.4 2014-06-03 00:48:22 *Tunnelblick: openvpnstart starting OpenVPN 2014-06-03 00:48:22 *Tunnelblick: openvpnstart log: Tunnelblick: OpenVPN started successfully. Reading the Tunnelblick documentation, this ought to work.
  13. Thanks for the reply/solution. My primary intention was to report a bug. Is this forum the right place or is there another?
  14. Hi, Steps to repro the issue - Reboot the OS. - Start Eddie. For me it starts with a small sizing. This causes horizontal scroll bars to be visible when viewing the servers list. - Resize the window till the horizontal scroll bars are not needed - Exit Eddie. - Start Eddie again. This time it remembers the prev sizing. Horizontal Scroll bars are not needed in the Servers tab. - Exit Eddie. Restart Windows. - Start Eddie. The window size has reset. Horizontal scrollbars are visible in the Servers tab. Regards, Amith
  15. Hi, I am using Eddie 64bit on Windows 7. Under preferences in General > Microsoft Windows Only, I have enabled `Start with Windows` and `Minimize in tray icon`. When I reboot the system, Eddie doesn't start on its own. It's not visible in Task Manager nor in the system tray. If I manually start Eddie, it appears in Task Manager as well as the system tray. Regards, Amith
  16. Hi, Just started with AirVPN. The VPN I am currently subscribed to, its term is ending this month. AirVPN looks really good. Considering switching to it when the current tem ends. Btw, off topic, it wasn't easy figuring out that there is a beta Eddie client for Windows. The `Enter` page links to the old 1.92 client. The 2.1 client is way way way better than the 1.92 client. The 1.92 client was a huge shock Anyway, getting to the topic, I didn't see any settings for auto-update in the Windows client. Is this built-in? When you release 2.2 or whichever is the next version, will I be notified automatically or do I need to keep following this forum? Regards, Amith
