if that's how they are determining who to block then it is useless for Air to do anything.  too bad.  of course the netflix account is tied to identity but my main reason for having a VPN is keep my ISP from knowing everything I do.

you don't choose to use it.  AirVPN automatically routes your traffic to that server when necessary to deliver some content that's blocked outside Italy.

The Italian server that exists is a routing server not a VPN server.  You won't see it in the server list in Eddie.

You should read that announcement regarding the past VPN server in Italy.

yep, that's exactly correct.  stunnel has created a server and is listening on the local device (127.0.0.1) port 1413.  Then you must load the corresponding ovpn file in the openvpn client config which will not point to a remote server but will instead connect to that local stunnel server.  You'll see that in the custom config it's setup to then connect to whatever Air server you chose.

by the way, that's interesting that you have merlin asus firmware successfully working on a netgear router.

entware has its own repository with stunnel available, if that's what you're asking.  install merlin firmware, install entware (directions on merlin wiki if I recall correctly), then from SSH command line install stunnel.  something like  opkg install stunnel

you'll probably also want to install screen to run stunnel in the background.

    screen -dmS choose-a-name-for-the-process stunnel sslconfigfromAir.ssl

    Your client config is fine.
I made a list for you with all the current entry IPs of Air servers.

The list was generated using the following steps, in case you wish to do
it by yourself in a later stage:

    dig a earth.all.vpn.airdns.org > dig.txt
    awk -F "\t" '{print $4}' dig.txt > air.txt

What you have to do next is adding them on your router's iptables, you can
    use something like this:

    for IP in $(cat air.txt); do iptables -A INPUT -s $IP/32 -d 0/0 -j ACCEPT; done
    for IP in $(cat air.txt); do iptables -A OUTPUT -s $IP/32 -d 0/0 -j ACCEPT; done

This should read all the list from the file air.txt and add them to your iptables rules.

when you test at GRC the 0x20 support adds additional randomness in the alphabetic case, mixing up lower and upper case.  without 0x20 turned on GRC reports things are all lower case.

Since https://www.grc.com/dns/dns.htm and https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc/services/dnsentropy both work with all the options turned ON, I'll just use them.  They work fine at showing any leaks and much more.

I think I may have a partial solution to the DNS question while using multiple VPNs with pfSense.  I found how to restrict DNS to only one server, but all queries will go there.

Go Services -> DNS Resolver -> General Settings.  Change the "Outgoing Network Interface" to only one of your VPN WANs.  I initially set it up with both VPN WANS selected here, but just found this pfSense document related to the DNS Resolver:  https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Unbound_DNS_Resolver).  The relevant section is quoted below:

Outgoing Network Interfaces: Specific interface(s) to use for sourcing outbound queries. By default any interface may be used. Can be useful for selecting a specific WAN or local interface for VPN queries.

The only catch to this setup is that all DNS requests (regardless of which VPN WAN the traffic originates on) goes to the same DNS server.  In my case I am connected to one server in Canada and another in the US.  I have the DNS set to us the US server so I can use sites that are geo-restricted to the US.  All of my other traffic goes to the server in Canada, but the DNS requests still go back to the US.  Since it is still an AirVPN DNS server, I'm satisfied with this arrangement.

    Hello!

We're very glad to inform you that a new 100 Mbit/s server located in Hong Kong is available: Arcturus.

The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access them through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator").

The server accepts connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP.

Just like every other Air server, Arcturus supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.

As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.

Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue.

    Kind regards and datalove

Intelligence agencies in nations worldwide are in the same business as the NSA.

Also, the USA has no laws invading the privacy of VPN providers such as mandatory logging.

However, some nations will be more stringent against copyright infringement than others.  But, AirVPN seems to have a good understanding of law and aims to handle copyright complaints the same no matter the location.

So, IMO, there is no reason to avoid USA servers anymore than other nations.  But, it MIGHT make it easier on AirVPN if copyright infringing activities were done using servers in nations that don't cooperate with copyright complaints.

Yes, that's correct. The Ovh anti-DDoS system seems good, and the price is amazingly low (included in any "professional" dedicated server).

    Hello!

Today we're starting AirVPN sixth birthday celebrations!

From a two servers service located in one tiny country providing a handful of Mbit/s in 2010, the baby has grown up to a wide infrastructure in 16 countries in three continents with 165 VPN dedicated servers and several secondary servers aimed to additional services, providing now up to 156900 Mbit/s to tens of thousands persons around the world. The number of available VPN servers since the last birthday has almost doubled. An outstanding growth that makes us very proud!

If you're curious to know something about a series of fortunate events which gave birth to AirVPN, have a look here: https://airvpn.org/aboutus

To worthily celebrate Air's sixth birthday, we're glad to inform you that starting from now we are offering a 25% discount on all plans. Hurry up, celebrations as well as this special offer will end on June the 12th, 23:59:59 UTC!

    Kind regards and datalove

my suggestion to use Merlin was an aside.  nothing to do with whether or not popcorntime works.  it just makes it easier to change servers.  all you have to do is change the server IP address.  no need to load a new ovpn file each time.  stock firmware gives you no manual control last I looked.

I decided to give this service a whirl after my go to provider decided to drop Bitcoin payments after only a 2-3 month acceptance of them. To date I've had zero issues with this service, other than the occasional slow server but that's the internet and we have to live with it. I really appreciate the stance on privacy, neutrality, etc and the forces mustered against us that are constantly growing. Servers seem well placed and available whenever I need one to my liking.

I've tried many others, 7 I think, for various reasons and Co. placement but it comes down to the overall package for me and as such I will be keeping this service and resist my usual urge to hop around trying out others. No service is perfect, period, but AirVPN has struck a great balance and now have me as a permanent customer.

The only things I would wish for were a few more locations such as Norway, Hungary, and maybe 1 other but that's quibbling I guess. It takes money to design, implement and maintain such an undertaking so one can only hope for those locations in the future.

In the end, thanks guys for the hard work, you stance and position, and for providing us a great service

It looks like that different IP addresses cause different behavior (or access different backends, or something like that). From Netherlands VPN servers the long-awaited "time menu" is finally visible, but sometimes it does not work well and usually does not work at all.

From non-NL servers, the menu seems not acccessible at all (at least at the moment of this writing).

    Kind regards
