1 pointPlease add more tunneling options! Day by day censorship around the world becomes worse and worse, OpenVPN and Wireguard is already completely blocked in many countries because it is easily detectable using DPI. Since the mid 2010's people out there have been working very hard on much more censorship-resilient solutions rather than simple-to-detect SSH and SSL-wrapping. The days of the games of privacy are over, now VPNs are more and more used by the people around the world to break the information bubbles created by their oppressive governments. Here are some examples of the new tunneling methods that you could add to your services: https://github.com/erebe/wstunnel https://github.com/cbeuw/Cloak https://github.com/v2fly/v2ray-core https://github.com/XTLS/Xray-core

Block vpn in Russia?
go558a83nk reacted to zimbabwe for a post in a topic
May be it is all just snake oil but yesterday I was playing with the MTU settings of my OpenVPN client (SSL-wrapped) and for some reason the values around --tun-mtu 700 --mssfix 692 mtu improve the situation with the throttling quite visibly. SpeedTest shows that higher values (1000 or more) cause the speed to drop steeper and in larger steps, finally causing the complete freezing of transmission, lower values (500 or less) make the connection just slow and unreliable. It seems like 700 is sort of the golden middle. Also for Linux enabling BBR (Bottleneck Bandwidth and RTT) may increase the throughput. If your Linux kernel is recent enough (4.9 or later), add the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf: net.core.default_qdisc=fq net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control=bbr Then execute sysctl --system or reboot. And one more advice: switch cipher to CHACHA20-POLY1305, it seems that it's now supported by almost all AirVPN servers. It probably means next to nothing but as far as I understand in theory its presence is not that easily detectable by DPI in the SSL-encrypted traffic as AES. To switch add the following parameter to openvpn (if it's started manually): --data-ciphers CHACHA20-POLY1305 Or alternatively edit the data-ciphers line in the .conf file. -

More tunneling options

Mr. Zimbabwe, I can in the same way say that there are tons of other VPN providers which might work better for you than AirVPN. I don't get you people who try to argue about the already accomplished fact that there will be no support coming for any proxy protocols in AirVPN, because AirVPN is not a proxy provider and never will be. Who are you trying to convince here? The AirVPN team is an advocate for Tor. If Tor does not work for you, well, then so be it – maybe AirVPN is not the best fit for you then? Acknowledge that fact and move on, come on. Now, we can help you with configuration of either OpenVPN or Wireguard, or any other protocol engulfing those VPN protocols, and try to help you with optimization. If you are willing to try it, please open a thread. Не злись)) -

You know, it's sort of sad to think that you must fall into the darkness just because you are not belonging to the "overwhelming majority of the world". China, Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, Turkmenistan, Egypt, Turkey. Who's next? I know we are all the "third world" but we are people and want the information! If no one will lend us a hand from the greater world, where life is still okay, we won't ever make it out of the darkness. -

New VPN’s

The recommendations displayed by NewPipe and Invidious, which are exclusively based on the video you are watching right now, are to be preferred. If you switch the content category, the recommendations will switch completely. Of course, this necessitates willfully watching something else. YouTube on the other hand recommends you other videos of viewed channels and content of related channels, even if you are viewing a video completely unrelated to that content category right now. It just forcefully drags you back into your filter bubble, which is very far from decent. If it's really ought to be YouTube, a periodic reset of your viewed content, say, once or twice a month, is absolutely necessary (which of course means, never log into your Google account!). And I'm not even talking about the privacy aspect.. -
1 pointThere’s a patcher for the YouTube app called Revanced. The project is open-source and I find it works quite well. It's pretty nice especially if you prefer the default YouTube UI. It's listed as ReVanced on GitHub. Newpipe is another good option, prioritizing privacy by not allowing account sign-ins. However, it does let you import YouTube subscriptions. I use Newpipe for downloading YouTube videos on my phone, and YT-DLP for downloading videos on my desktop. While not ideal from a privacy standpoint, I find YouTube’s algorithm does a decent job at recommending content. Because of this, I prefer using the patched YouTube app on my phone via Revanced. For Firefox or Chrome, uBlock Origin seems to effectively block ads for now. I'm aware of YouTube's recent attempts to combat ad blockers and hope they don’t implement server-side ad injection.

1 pointHello! We're very glad to inform you that two new 3 Gbit/s (full duplex) server located in San José, CA (USA) are available: Bunda and Imai. They support OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH, TLS 1.3, OpenVPN tls-crypt and WireGuard. The AirVPN client will show automatically the new servers; if you use any other OpenVPN or WireGuard client you can generate all the files to access it through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator"). The servers accept connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 1194, 2018 UDP and TCP for OpenVPN and ports 1637, 47107 and 51820 UDP for WireGuard. Full IPv6 support is included as well. As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses and 4096 bit DH key not shared with any other VPN server. You can check the status in our real time servers monitor: https://airvpn.org/servers/Bunda https://airvpn.org/servers/Imai Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue. Kind regards and datalove AirVPN Staff

I know you said you didn't want to open a debate but, come on... that clearly has never been the reason for *most* people. Also, this aberrant law led to what it inevitably was going to lead to: https://torrentfreak.com/piracy-shield-cloudflare-disaster-blocks-countless-sites-fires-up-opposition-240226/ -

The inconsistencies of EU policies were the reason most peope in the UK voted to get out of it. I don't want to open up that debate (is done and dusted anyway) but all this is a good example of a single EU member state legislating on such a fundamental citizen rights issue with what appears to be a total disregard to what the EU stance is or might be. -

This error still occurs very randomly. I think one or two other users have reported it on Linux (on a previous beta), I am on macOS. Solution is to quit and restart Eddie. -

There is still an issue with minimizing to tray in Xubuntu 22.04. Now when enabled Eddie only minimizes to taskbar and when restored the window is transparent and empty. Clicking "Show Main Window" from tray icon restores the window to normal. So the "Minimize in Tray" must be kept disabled. Same behavior occurred with the older beta branch.
