Eddie Desktop Edition 2.27 beta released

Hello!

We are glad to announce that Eddie 2.27.1 beta has been released and is now available for public testing.
 

This release mainly focuses on fixing several issues reported by some users in the stable 2.26.2 release.

We hope to promote 2.27.1 to stable soon, once we have confirmation that these issues have been resolved.

 

To test it:

• Go to the download page for your operating system.
• Click “Switch to EXPERIMENTAL”.
• Download and install Eddie 2.26.0 beta.

Eddie 2.27.1 beta is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

We are also continuing the larger work of modernizing Eddie Desktop, also with a new modern UI.
We know that many requested features are still waiting, including dark mode, split tunneling, Amnezia support, and more.
They are not forgotten. For this release, the focus was on fixes and updates that needed to reach users first.

Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do on our side. The default firewalld configuration in Fedora 44 is incompatible with Eddie's Network Lock.

I did the update to 2.27.1, changed the firewalld.conf to NftablesTableOwner=no - unfortunately the issue is still there.
Dont know if its relevant, but until 2.26.2 Fedora 44 and Eddie worked fine together for me, and even with deactivated network lock (Ensure in session is off) Eddie is unable to connect.

I had to install ovpn-dco 2.8.6 manually to make it work. It kept installing 2.8.2 with an Eddie client

Hello, and thank you for this new beta version of eddie-ui.
I just tested it on Devuan 5 (based on Debian 12), and unfortunately, the problem persists.
The terminal output is more detailed and mentions a library file named “linux-vdso.so.1”.
A `find` search shows that this binary does not exist on my machine.
A search on https://packages.debian.org/ shows that this binary is not present in the official Debian repositories.

Can no longer enable network lock if "Don't ask elevation every run" is enabled. It pops up with the error "Exception: State directory not available". Once that is disabled and Eddie is restarted then the network locks normally. Running Debian 13.

Time to establish a connection has been significantly sped up as well.  Still working fine, but noticed I have to reconnect manually over night.
