Kobusb 0 Posted ... (edited) Hi all, I wanted to check whether I am alone in this issue. Since forever, the Eddie UI has been insanely slow on my laptop with Linux Mint. It loads part after part elements of the UI and then after is very unresponsive. It takes seconds to respond after a click and scrolling is very laggy. I just wanted to know if this is a known issue because I cannot find information on it anywhere. And maybe if there is a (planned) solution. Thank you for thinking with me. Edit: I most add, it seems like some kind of rendering issue. The UI loads in blocks , block for block kind of. Then in other cases it just takes 20 seconds to load a new page, when I then try to scroll through servers, it stutters like crazy with second delay between frames. Weirdly enough, the application gets faster the smaller I make the window. When I maximize the window it is by far even slower. I must also add that the scaling is also off no matter what I tried, letters are very small, probably because I am on a 3000x2000 screen. Edited ... by Kobusb Quote Share this post Link to post

Viaica 6 Posted ... Is it an older laptop? I've asked about the sluggish GUI before and I believe it was said to be a Mono feature which they were planning on moving away from. The sluggishness only happens on my old laptops but not on the beefier desktop using the same Linux media. Quote Share this post Link to post

My hardware is top notch with 64 GB of ddr5 and a matching level processor on the motherboard. Eddie just couldn't be faster so its something on your end. Don''t know if it matters but I am also on strong fiber. Quote Share this post Link to post

It sounds like some Mono related problem, can you check your Mono version in your system (and update it if newer version is available)? Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post

Thank you for thinking with me. it happens to me too, also whenever I try new linux distros I always install Eddie to check if it works, and the "laggy" problem occurs in 90% of the distros I try I always assumed it was because of that "Mono" library, but it has been there forever so I never reported it because I know it is a big change that won't happen in the near future. It is running an i7-8660, runs everything smooth except for this application for since whenever I started with linux like 1.5 years ago. Really want to use and support airvpn. Bought a 3 year subscription or something so am also stuck with it. But I find myself not using it often because of this, unfortunately also for sensitive information. It takes me minutes to switch and connect to a vpn server. Quote Share this post Link to post

I am suspecting it having to do something about compatibility with my processor (i7-8650). Because I have really thrown everything at it byt cannot get it to work. The UI loads in black blocks which get filled in with UI when I launch eddie. Is this something you can see as well? Quote Share this post Link to post

Thanks for your reply. Glad to see I am not the only one. What cpu do you happen to have if I may ask? It seems to work for some people on those distros for some reason. I was affraid of that also, might have to wait for a long time for that to change. What are distros you had luck with? Quote Share this post Link to post
