No maximum speed limit, it depends only on the server load (see here).
Minimum allocated granted bandwidth: 4 Mbit/s download + 4 Mbit/s upload

you claim this crap

and yet the speed shows different

you can make excuses like there isn't enough seeds for the torrent i was using bla bla bla but it would still show this crap where it peaks when i start a torrent then it slows down as soon as your server detects the torrent

last year i used to be able to download multiple torrents fast and now this year i can only download 1 torrent at a time sometimes fast and now it's not downloading fast at all with most stuff it just peaks for a few seconds then it gets throttled

so ultimately you're false advertising your speeds

this happens across the board with everything now compared to last year so seeds aren't the core problem

i tried restarting the airvpn client and tried restarting the router and tried restarting my computer and seperately flushing dns but the speed throttling is still happening

the speed throttling never happened when i used other vpn companies but their privacy was garbage

i'm going to try getting a different torrent but the speed throttling is across the board not merely for 1 torrents seed count

Even though I think it's useless to post something here, because you are not listing to reason. But I say it anyway:

My speed is literally the same as without VPN (up to 7-8mb/s). So maybe, just maybe, it could be your (or torrent) fault.

Good luck finding a new VPN service. If you would ask politlely the community here could easily help you find and solve the reasons for your problem. Good luck finding that at a different VPN service.

Enjoy!

Hello!

you claim this crap

and yet the speed shows different

That's because it's not a speed guarantee, but a minimum allocated bandwidth. Which speaks to the quality of Air connections, that it's possible to make such a thing. If you think Air can guarantee the speed any user would get, when each users conditions are totally different in terms of ISP, hardware, software, location and so on, then I think you need to look again. Ergo there's nothing wrong with the claim, but rather more likely, something in your setup. Your setup of which, we know next to nothing about. As Air makes clear, speeds users can reach, are uncapped.

you can make excuses like there isn't enough seeds for the torrent i was using bla bla bla but it would still show this crap where it peaks when i start a torrent then it slows down as soon as your server detects the torrent

There is no need to make any excuses and to my knowledge Air certainly hasn't made any in regards to seeds, when it's pretty straightforward that there's a multitude of possible reasons for a slowdown, that may be completely unrelated to Air and seeds altogether. As it turns out, most users can find the origin of slowdowns in their own set up. If you're experiencing problems, why not try to troubleshoot them calmly, instead of writing posts like that?

last year i used to be able to download multiple torrents fast and now this year i can only download 1 torrent at a time sometimes fast and now it's not downloading fast at all with most stuff it just peaks for a few seconds then it gets throttled

Which only underscores the well known fact that network conditions change all the time. And if you're suggesting that Air is throttling you, despite this being the complete opposite of one of Airs central policies, then I'd ask you to put forth some proper evidence that amounts to more than an Eddie graph, as it's tantamount to defamation otherwise and that won't be allowed around here.

so ultimately you're false advertising your speeds

And yet those getting more than 300Mbit / sec would tend to disagree. So no, there's nothing false about Airs commitments.

You could for instance have told us:

  • Whether you forwarded any ports or not.
  • What settings you put in your torrent client.
  • Which torrent client you're using and which version.
  • Who you ISP is.
  • What hardware your computer runs on.
  • What router you're using.
  • If you tried different Eddie locations.
  • If you tried different Eddie protocols.
  • Whether you tried any experimental clients or not.
  • Whether it's a wired or wireless connection.

And so on.

Before making such unfounded claims.

Everything comes down to your actual hardware and ISP Peering/QoS throttling.

With good hardware and ISP, you can find yourself in the 100-300Mbit area with AirVPN,

and there are no limits once you reach that. The question is, if your hardware and ISP are capable.

I wonder if my ISP (Spectrum/Time Warner) is throttling me or something then? Im not going to claim false advertising, because when I signed up, I knew well there was going to be a little slowdown through a VPN and you are not guaranteed anything close to your full connection, but when I first joined I could easily hit almost my full 100Mbit bandwidth. This blew me away compared to NordVPN I was using before. Last month for whatever reason, everything dropped to maybe 10Mbit. I run Speedtest all the time, and can disconnect from the VPN and watch my normal Spectrum connection fly back up where its supposed to. The minute I reconnect to AirVPN it goes down the tubes. It gets a little faster if I switch from UDP to TCP, but nowhere near what it was in December and half of January, and I still don't understand what would've cause the sudden drop in speed. The traffic on the Los Angeles servers I use has pretty much hovered at the same number of users and bandwidth since I joined so I can't even say 'Oh theres more people connecting now' and explain it.

I have, its a little bit slower than TCP but works about the same. I just don't get why the first month I was on UDP it worked beautifully and then all of a sudden took a big hit, with no changes whatsoever. I have Eddie set to just use TCP now (or SSH IP3 if I connect to Castor) so its no big deal, its just weird. Ive gotten in trouble with Spectrum before for using a certain infamous public tracker (never the private ones go figure), and got that 'one more time and thats it' email, so I figured it might be time to use a VPN. I wonder if they noticed a sudden flood of UDP traffic coming from me and decided to ramp it down when they couldn't see where it was going or what was in it?

They do change network conditions as it suits them, yes. It's unfortunate for the end user .

I had the same problem last month.

Suddenly I couldn't torrent faster than 1MB/s.

Switching to TCP helped for me, now I can get 15MB/s .

Are you using the Los Angeles servers too?? I know there were some issues with Sabik last month, which is what I connect to the most, but the other two servers were doing it as well. I was able to connect to one of the Fremont, CA servers and get everything back to normal but after a couple days everything went back down. I have a feeling its Spectrum doing something. I just stick to TCP now.
