ANSWERED New to VPN, using MacOSx Yosemite, open the app but no interface shows up

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Just landed on AirVPN.

I have downloaded the client app, when I open it I can only see the menu on top bar, but no interface of any sort.

Is this normal under MacOSx Yosemite?

Also, I had the amazing idea of using my name, any chance I can change my username?

Many thanks for letting me know

Best wishes

Hello!

Welcome to AirVPN.

On the top bar, on the AirVPN name/icon, have you tried clicking "Show Main Interface" or something to that effect? You should have a full GUI .

As for your username, you'll have to go to your client area and submit a support ticket. I don't think it happens too often, so be prepared to make a new account.

Wrong.

The username in IPB is just a cosmetic setting, also called a display name and this is what the community sees.

What is important is the numeric uid that binds to a unique username (string, Unicode allowed). Anyone can change the username from this menu:

Finally found the interface from the small icon on the top bar, strange one doesn't see the interface after opening the app, I genuinely thought my system wasn't fully supported. Many thanks both for your very kind and super quick help!

Hi,

no wait: username and Display Name are two different records. Display Name is the name used to display the account on the forums and tickets. Username is used to log the account in the web site. When an account is created, Display Name is filled with the value of the username. A user can change the Display Name arbitrarily, but the username can NOT be changed by the user.

Kind regards
