Network Lock (I think) Issue

Network Lock

Best Answer Staff, 25 March 2017 - 12:13 AM

I have confirmed my IPv4 is set to Auto (which I saw as a suggestion to a similar sounding issue).

Eddie version is 2.10.3

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello!

Can you please check again your system DNS settings (while Eddie is not running), just in case the problem is related to DNS and not to firewall rules? Eddie 2.10.3 is a very old version and has a bug (only in Windows) for which, under peculiar circumstances, the DNS settings of a network interface were not restored. This bug was fixed both in the 2.11 and in 2.12 versions (upgrade to Eddie 2.12.4, the latest stable release, is highly recommended).

Kind regards

I have been using Air/Eddie for about 1.5 years, never had an issue like this.

I was looking for a torrent, so I turned on my PC, activated network lock and connected to recommended server, all just like normal. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I was just going to watch a show on Netflix.  So I disconnected, and turned off the network lock, and then closed Eddie.  Once disconnected, I realized, that now, without the VPN connected, my internet didn't work (as if the network lock was still on), so I reopened, Eddie to confirm it was not activated, and it is not.

I restarted the PC, no change, still no internet access, Re-open Eddie, and cycle network lock on and off, no change, connect to Recommended server, and everything is working fine, disconnect, no network lock, still no internet.

I have confirmed my IPv4 is set to Auto (which I saw as a suggestion to a similar sounding issue).

Eddie version is 2.10.3

Thanks for any help you can offer.

you're using an old version of Eddie.  Maybe an update will help? :)

Yeah, I have downloaded a new version, but since this broke on the old one, but at least my internet works some when connected on the old version, I didn't want to upgrade versions until I can connect to the internet while not connected to the internet.  Basically just out of concern that updating while something is broken, might make it impossible to connect at all, and leave me SOL - or having to re-install windows, which I really do not want to do.

Reset your Windows Firewall rules and you should be good to go. In Eddie 2.11+, the default Network Lock mode is Windows Filtering Platform.

Always remember:
There's a guide to AirVPN,

Amazon IPs are not dangerous here,
running TOR exits is discouraged,

using spoilers for your logs is the proper way to heaven.
Same issues are rare! Search for solutions and if not successful open your own threads.

~ Furthermore, I propose that your paranoia is to be destroyed. ~

I have tried restoring the default policy for Windows firewall, still no luck, when not connected to the VPN, I have no internet access.
