https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php Here's a tool I've found effective in helping my Internet Connection (while running AirVPN). The tool receives a lot of positive feedback from users. For most of you Windows users it's probably 2nd nature to optimize the settings this tool 'tweaks' -but for the novice to enthusiast, maybe you'll find it helpful. Worked like a charm for me. If inclined to go for it, create a new folder for the .exe/tool, then any back-up data is automatically housed in newly created folder after running. I sanboxed it first, ran it though virustotal.com (no negative comments or flags -but please download and execute w/ caution as YMMV). AirVPN Tech Support didn't say it was unsafe to use, but they didn't say it was "safe" either -as it's closed, ofc. The website is pretty neat as well... lots of interesting reads (at least for me). Hope this program helps a fellow noob... and if anyone recommends against using it, Id welcome the feedback as Id rather be safe than sorry. Thank you!
Hello I recently purchased AirVPN and it feels indeed very mature and tech-savvy service. However, I can't get full speeds, even though I have tried common tricks. I use an USB LTE mobile broadband stick, so my MTU is not (maybe) 1500 normally. Speedguide.net's shows that MTU is 1440 and MSS 1400, when I don't have the VPN connected. Because of mobile connection, my speeds differ from time to time, but currently I get download speed of 15 mbit/s and upload of 45 mbit/s (this is a result of many concurrent users at the same cell tower, but this is not the reason for low speeds, naturally). My OS is W10. I have tried both UDP and TCP modes and multiple ports, but speeds at AirVPN are DL 5-7 mbit/s and UL 10 mbit/s. They are significantly lower than without VPN. I increased the buffer sizes for both RX and TX to 256 kB and 512 kB, but it made not apparent difference. I tried the connection without Eddie and used the latest vanilla OpenVPN client with generated ovpn-configs, but speeds remained low. What is the most interesting part, is that my ISP is not throttling the connection. I tested this with another VPN service and their UDP protocol connection gave me DL of 12 mbit/s and UL of 39 mbit/s. I am sure there is some parameter which makes this difference, but what is it? I also trust 100 % at your infrastructure. Every time I connected to AirVPN servers, there were at least 850 mbit/s of bandwidth, so the problem is in the configure, but where? By the way, what I wrote about MTU, I didn't find any difference between AirVPN config and the another service's configc files, what comes to mssfix or related.
Hi, I'm having an interesting issue with my VPN connection. My connection is working properly and I'm able to get a decent speed (10 mbps) but the CPU of my router is working heavily when the traffic approches 10 mbps. My Setup VPN Client : Ubuntu Server 13.04 With: OpenVPN 2.2.1 x86_64-linux-gnu [sSL] [LZO2] [EPOLL] [PKCS11] [eurephia] [MH] [PF_INET6] [iPv6 payload 20110424-2 (2.2RC2)] built on Feb 13 2013 Router Cisco 1811 The issue I noticed that the CPU of my router is spiking when "a lot" of traffic is going through the vpn connection. In addition, I receive these syslog from my router: 257: Severity "Warning" in [192.168.XX.XX: 214: Jul 29 15:01:46: %IP_VFR-4-FRAG_TABLE_OVERFLOW: FastEthernet0: the fragment table has reached its maximum threshold 64] After some research I realized that the packets I receive from the AirVPN gateway are oversize: they are 1517 bytes long (I sniffed my WAN interface to determine this). Bigger than MTU packets explain the CPU spikes and the syslog warning that I receive: my router's cpu cannot reassemble ip packets fast enough. Just to be clear: the layer 3 payload is of size 1517 bytes. In total the actual size of the data on wire is 1514 + 71 bytes. What I tried Clearly there is some sort of issue with the OpenVPN connection. I searched around and I tried different combinaison of the "mssfix" and "fragment XXXX" (I tried fragment 1400) but I'm unable to receive packets smaller than MTU. Does anyone has any tip on this sort of issue? Thanks for your help
