  1. Hello! Yes, you still need to, for the current version did not set Hummingbird as default choice. Kind regards
  2. @encrypted Hello! The minimum requirements for x86-64 architecture are very low, i.e kernel and libraries you can find in Debian 9: kernel version 4.9, glibc 2.29 etc Any distribution not older than 4-5 years should be fine. You have Mint 19.3, a Ubuntu 18.04 derivative released in 2019. Hummingbird is tested in Ubuntu 18, so in theory it should run in Mint 19.3. Let's see the log and any error message. However, not here: this is an Eddie thread, so let's first ascertain whether the problem is Hummingbird specific. Please feel free to open a ticket at your convenience. Kind regards
  3. Hello! WireGuard does not support authentication via certificate at all. OpenVPN does, and we have it implemented of course, but not with specific fields. If we implemented it we would force all of our customer to change certificate every time they change server, which is not a viable solution in most router and pfSense machines. Totally unacceptable. You must also consider that in order to impersonate a server, not only would the attacker need to steal the secret WireGuard key or the various OpenVPN certificate/key pairs, but she would also need to cage the target and hijack route via IP addresses, because the target can not be actively reached (forbidden in OpenVPN settings). Also, DH keys are unique in each VPN server, so the attacker can't even try an impersonation from another server while the connection is ongoing to a real server. Kind regards
  4. Hello! Which system exactly? Hummingbird requires not so new systems (Debian 9 and higher versions for example), but it may not run in very old systems Make sure to include a system report as Eddie writes HB log too, and test Hummingbird on its own. Kind regards
  5. Hello! Yes, Eddie for macOS and Linux is packaged with Hummingbird. In macOS, Eddie runs Hummingbird by default, and not OpenVPN. @jazzeyman Yes, Hummingbird latest version is 1.2, if some Eddie packages include an obsolete version the problem will be fixed soon, but in the meantime you can manually download latest Hummingbird version and have it run by Eddie. Kind regards
  6. @aishm Hello! The feature is not implemented in Eddie Android edition, but you can setup manually, even if the device is not rooted. Please see here: https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/13486-ssh-tunneled-vpn-on-stock-android/ Note: the guide mentions OpenVPN for Android, but we have many users reporting OpenVPN for Android as very unstable on Android 11 and 12, so you can run Eddie Android with profiles in any case and especially if you have recent Android versions. Kind regards
  7. @Philiberti Hello! Please remove completely the mentioned directory. If you can't do it with administrator privileges, it's plausible that some process is locking the directory,, so reboot in Safe Mode and try again to remove the directory. Then, reboot in normal mode and run again the installer. Kind regards
  8. Eddie 2.21.6 Desktop Edition released Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new stable release of Eddie is now available for Linux (various ARM based architectures included, making it compatible with several Raspberry Pi systems), Mac, Windows. Special thanks to all the beta testers, whose invaluable contributions and suggestions in the last 9 months have helped developers fix several bugs and improve the overall stability of the software. Eddie is a free and open source (GPLv3) OpenVPN GUI and CLI by AirVPN with many additional features such as: traffic leaks prevention via packet filtering rules DNS handling optional connections over Tor or a generic proxy customizable events traffic splitting on a destination IP address or host name basis complete and swift integration with AirVPN infrastructure with OpenVPN and WireGuard white and black lists of VPN servers ability to support IPv4, IPv6 and IPv6 over IPv4 What's new in Eddie 2.21.6 WireGuard support including thorough and swift integration with AirVPN enhanced wintun support in Windows, resolving TAP driver adapter issues and boosting performance, and now set by default as a replacement of TAP driver (which remains optionally available) updated Hummingbird 1.2.0 support in Linux and macOS for increased performance (up to 120% boost in macOS i7 and M1 systems when compared against OpenVPN 2) new ping engine updated Portable and AppImage bundles for improved Linux distributions compatibility constant monitoring of resolv.conf in Linux to mitigate and resolve DNS interference refined network interface management and driver detection in Windows bootstrap servers IPv6 address support unquoted service fix aimed at security hardening in Windows updates of all underlying linked libraries as well as dynamic link against some libraries providing enhanced robustness resolution of memory leaks in Windows starting to occur after numerous usage hours several bug fixes Operating and architectural notes Eddie GUI and CLI run with normal user privileges, while a "backend" binary, which communicates to the user interface with authentication, gains root/administrator privileges, with important security safeguards in place: strict parsing is enforced before passing a profile to OpenVPN in order to block insecure OpenVPN directives external system binaries which need superuser privileges (examples: openvpn, iptables, hummingbird) will not be launched if they do not belong to a superuser Eddie events are not run with superuser privileges: instead of trusting blindly user's responsibility and care when dealing with events, the user is required to explicitly operate to run something with high privileges, if strictly necessary Backend binary is written in C++ on all systems (Windows included), making the whole application faster. Settings, certificates and keys of your account stored on your mass storage can optionally be encrypted on all systems either with a Master Password or in a system key-chain if available. Download Eddie 2.21.6 Eddie 2.21.6 can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/linux - Linux version (several architectures and various distribution specific packages for easier installation) https://airvpn.org/macos - Mac version https://airvpn.org/windows - Windows version Eddie is free and open source software released under GPLv3. Source code is available on GitHub: https://github.com/AirVPN/Eddie Complete changelog can be found here. Kind regards & datalove AirVPN Staff
  9. @aishm Hello! We're sorry, that feature has not been implemented in Eddie Android edition. Have you already tested a connection in TCP? tls-crypt feature, which Eddie uses by default, should have the same block circumvention abilities. Kind regards
  10. We released version 2.21.6. This version will be moved as it is to "stable" soon. Version 2.21.6 (Sat, 23 Apr 2022 12:06:52 +0000) [bugfix] [macos] username and password issue on some macOS [change] Net Framework 4.8 and other libraries updates [bugfix] Other minor fixes
  11. @x2c Hello! We suspect that something modifies DNS settings (example: maybe DHCP lease?), as you write that the problem occurs after some hours. Can you attach Hummingbird log taken just after the problem has occurred? If you have the option to test Hummingbird 1.1.2 in your current environment, could you please do so and verify whether the same problem occurs or not? Also, can you send us the DNS settings at the beginning of your connection, when everything works fine, and the same settings soon after you detect the issue? Thank you in advance. Kind regards
  12. Hello! You can anyway enter random characters, which is equivalent to remove it. We need a unique string for each account in the "e-mail" field, but that string may be random, as long as it is unique in the system. You should have no problems finding out a unique, random string. Kind regards
  13. @adams-j Hello! Please log your account in to the web site and go to "Client Area" > "Devices". You will find that you have an old certificate (thank you very much, you picked us a long ago!) - you can recognize it by the yellow warning. OpenSSL 3 does not tolerate SHA1 signed certificate anymore (by default build), but we do not force withdrawal and re-generation not to interfere with current connections. Since 2018 all new generated client certificates are signed via SHA512 algorithm. Complete instructions to manage your client certificate and key pairs can be found here: https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/26209-how-to-manage-client-certificatekey-pairs/ Kind regards
  14. @adamrabbit Hello! Please enable logging on file, you can do it on the "Logs" window. When you reproduce the "retry loops" try not to force Eddie to quit, but cancel the operation. If it's not possible to cancel, send us anyway the generated log file before and after having forced Eddie to quit. Kind regards
  15. @adamrabbit Hello! The first problem you mention is explained here: https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/50336-eddie-macos-unable-to-start-client-not-allowed-remote-executable-not-signed/ The presence of Mono dump file(s) (created in the mentioned directory when Eddie crashed) causes the integrity check failure at any subsequent run. The bug is resolved in Eddie 2.21.5. The second problem you mention appears cryptic. The error message means that the Operating System first failed to verify Eddie.app signature (in macOS, when you command the system to copy something in the Application directory via GUI, the system does not exactly comply to your order, but performs additional operations),. However the same procedure succeeded later, according to your own description, so it was not true that Eddie.app was "damaged". Please let us know whether Eddie 2.21.5 beta resolves all the problems you reported, especially the crashes you experienced. Kind regards
  16. @adamrabbit Hello! If Network Lock was actually enabled since the beginning, something must have modified pf rules (Network Lock sets pf rules, pf is the default firewall in macOS). If possible, check pf rules after Network Lock has been enabled and after the crash. Is it Eddie 2.21.5? Any other information about the crash? What is the exact error message when Eddie can't get "elevated" privileges? Kind regards
  17. Hello! Update: Hummingbird 1.2.0 is now available. Original message download links and changelog have been updated accordingly. Special thanks to all the testers whose help and patience have been instrumental in spotting bugs and reaching a stable release. Thank you so much! Kind regards
  18. Hello! Update: AirVPN Suite 1.2.0 is now available. Original message download links and changelog have been updated accordingly. Special thanks to all the testers whose help and patience have been instrumental in spotting bugs and reaching a stable release. Thank you so much! Kind regards
  19. Hello! AirVPN Suite is only for Linux and Debian is the system the whole suite is built on (compiled and linked) for x86-64 architecture. The Suite is based on OpenVPN 3 AirVPN which, obviously, is fully compatible with OpenVPN 2 based servers. OpenVPN 3 AirVPN is 132 commits ahead of OpenVPN:master and resolves a myriad of bugs and malfunctions caused by OpenVPN 3 main branch. WireGuard support is planned as well. Please, once again, read the provided document we linked in our previous post for your comfort. Kind regards
  20. Hello! Update: Hummingbird 1.2.0 Release Candidate 3 is now available. Links to download the packages have been updated in this thread first message. Thank you very much for your tests! Kind regards
  21. Hello! Update: AirVPN Suite 1.2.0 Release Candidate 3 is now available. Original message download links and changelog have been updated accordingly. Thank you for your tests! Kind regards
  22. Hello! Please consider the AirVPN Suite, it should resolve the issue. https://airvpn.org/suite/readme/ Kind regards
  23. Hello! Obviously Eddie is maintained as you have noticed by yourself. Beta testing is typically ended when all found bugs in the beta versions have been fixed and the customer satisfaction is high. A typical public beta testing cycle of Eddie Desktop edition, when brand new features are included (in this case WIreGuard, new drivers, deep rewrite of strategic pieces of code) may take 9-12 months. This is not an unreasonable time because testing involves about 18 Linux distribution in various different versions, with three different DE and two architectures, 3 different OS X systems, 6 different macOS systems, 5 different Windows versions in two different architectures, various ARM based systems in two different architectures, for a total amount of several hundreds systems where Eddie must run properly in. Considering the current testers feedback you can reasonably expect a stable release at the end of March 2022. Please feel free to report what your concern is exactly, and why you are not satisfied with Eddie 2.21.5 (beta). If you're already satisfied with it, just use it. Kind regards
  24. Now, AirVPN .onion website is served under SSL/TLS. Some reason here: https://community.torproject.org/onion-services/advanced/https/ (we're writing this post from .onion under SSL)
  25. @NoMercy1290 Hello! Correct, since the list "exploded" to more than a million entries yesterday (from a few hundred thousands) a security system disabled it. Today it has shrunk again to 300'000 entries. The list is now available. Kind regards
