Are folks here aware of this? https://www.internetsociety.org/news/press-releases/2019/ethos-capital-to-acquire-public-interest-registry-from-the-internet-society/ https://savedotorg.org/
I just heard the end of an interview on CBC radio with a former vice-president of ICANN who was saying this is a very bad thing. Internet Society is a non-profit organization that has done governance of the ".org" domain until now. And Ethos Capital is just what it sounds like.
EDIT:
The podcast of the radio show I listened to is here: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/thecurrent/the-current-for-nov-27-2019-1.5375027
The interview starts at about 23:00.
