increasing efficiency in blocking ads and trackers

[Tionni 1]

Hello,

I just did read about Proton VPN increasing it efficiency on blocking ads and trackers

Quote

blocks six times more ads and trackers than before.

This is because NetShield now blocks subdomains in addition to root domains. For example, instead of just blocking connections to tracker.com(new window), NetShield now also blocks connections to api.tracker.com(new window) cdn.tracker.com(new window), pixel.tracker.com(new window), and similar subdomains. As a result, it provides stronger protection for private, secure browsing.

Is this something you can implement also?

Hello!

We already implemented it in 2021. Any domain which must be blocked includes all of its subdomains too.

Besides, different matching methods are available for your additions and exceptions: Exact (exact FQDN), Domain (domain and its subdomains), Wildcard (with * and ? as wildcards), Contain, Start with, End with.

Kind regards
