Primrose99 0 Posted ... New AirVPN user here. I am using MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra), firewall settings are turned off completely, just trying to get macbook set up w/ AirVPN via Eddie so I can set up Port Forwarding. When I "Connect to a recommended server" in Eddie, it will connect and then immediately disconnect, restart (connect to another server), connect briefly, then immediately disconnect... rinse and repeat. I assume this is user error, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Assistance would be most appreciated, and thanks for your help! Quote Share this post Link to post

Jroew043 0 Posted ... I was having this happen too. This newest version 2.24.6 just came out in 2025 and maybe has some bugs. I went to the eddie vpn website (https://eddie.website) and downloaded version 2.21.8. Issue resolved. Quote Share this post Link to post

Please install 2.24.6 again and open your own thread providing the same system report to allow the devs to troubleshoot. Thank you. The problem: Quote E 2025.01.27 19:49:08 - WireGuard > Error: Executable '/Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wireguard-go' not allowed: Not owned by root; It is strange that Eddie can not authenticate (through file hash checksum) those files, can you please tell us which package you downloaded (Intel or M1/M4, ZIP or DMG)? The problem is (also) a consequence of the enforcement of a relevant security feature: Eddie will not run with root privileges binaries or scripts not owned by root, if such binaries can not be checksum-authenticated. You can fix the problem (after you have verified that wireguard-go is safe) by changing ownership of that file. From a terminal: sudo chown root /Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wireguard-go Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post

8bit_dodger 1 Posted ... (edited) So I deleted the app, redownloaded the latest 2.24.6, ran your Terminal script and allowed permissions in settings for Apps to update other apps and still no luck sorry. Running the previous version of Eddie works for me. Logs attached Eddie_20250129_212346.txt Edited ... by 8bit_dodger uploaded logs Quote Share this post Link to post

The problem is still the same, but for another file: E 2025.01.29 21:21:14 - WireGuard > Error: Executable '/Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wg' not allowed: Not owned by root; Please change ownership of this file too and any other file in case of additional errors of the same type: sudo chown root /Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wg Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post

Kind regards I tried, but it doesn't work or I'm doing something wrong, I'm not good with computers, I entered this into the terminal several times and now I can't even type my password Thanks for your help sudo chown root /Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wg Quote Share this post Link to post

The characters you type for a password are generally not echoed on the terminal emulator for security reasons. You have to type the password (of the Mac account with which you opened the terminal emulator) "blindly", then press ENTER. If you typed the wrong password the system will warn you. 8bit_dodger 1 Posted ... Finally got around to applying this fix. Can confirm running both lines in Terminal fixed the issue. Thanks Quote Share this post Link to post
skytwoairvpn 0 Posted ... I'm having a similar issue, though I don't think its the same cause. It's reconnecting every 5-10 min sometimes and this has been a recent occurence within the last week or two. Is this a wifi problem on my end or can be eddie related? I had updated to 2.24.6 somewhat recently also. Thanks for any assistance. Eddie_20250208_165126.txt Quote Share this post Link to post
