ANSWERED ASUS Router - .ovpn file format invalid / VPN Profile Settings

My Asus AX-52 router when trying to upload my VPN profile says: "Invalid .ovpn file fomat." 



Every time I attempt to upload the .ovpn file, I receive an error message stating "Invalid .ovpn format." Additionally, when I try to connect, it says something about an "invalid VPN file."I've double-checked the .ovpn file, and it works perfectly fine on other OpenVPN-used VPN Service. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I've attached screenshots for reference.Thanks in advance for your help!

Also one more question: I know that my ISP router is under surveillance by state actors. When I had logged in this page I used my credentials and maybe / but I think it is already connected to my US-VPN server / it is not connected. What do you think if I change my password is enough? Or Better to drop credentials in this situations? 

One More question: Other VPN Server is able to re-generate keys of VPN Profile .ovpn 
I personally do not understand why we do not set this in here as extra layer of security. How can I re-generate this? So if I use a .ovpn file and I want to re-generate its security-keys then I simple do it once a month, for instance. Thank you your answear.

Hello!

A common cause of this error is trying to import a configuration file aimed at an OpenVPN version different from the one your system runs. For example OpenVPN 2.4 does not support various OpenVPN 2.5 new directives. Please check the OpenVPN version your Asus router runs and generate the file accordingly. On the Configuration Generator please turn on the "Advanced" switch in order to see the "OpenVPN profile" combo box that lets you choose the version (2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.6 no-dco, 3).

You can manage your keys anytime from your AirVPN account control panel (enter it by clicking "Client Area" from the upper menu of the web site). You can delete or renew a certificate/key, or you can create new, multiple certificates and keys. This is a feature AirVPN supports since so many years ago, please see here: https://airvpn.org/forums/topic/26209-how-to-manage-client-certificatekey-pairs/

Look I have an another question about this. Is it mandatory to use DNS which is given its instruction?

The other question is that now I have experience that my laptop has turned off itself meanwhile I was browsing, including this site when I logged in. 

After several hours - 4-5 hours - I have turned on my laptop and it still logged in to your websites. I understand that you are up to security measures but I think it is necessary to build in this website additional layer of security. 

My other question is about Hungary. One of the main thing I chose you because of the price/offer and Hungary server. It has shut down and I had watched already that some users have mentioned this as this is not good as it is a highly sensitive area. The gov is jumping this to block pages, entire news outlets what they have bought or the telecommunication sites of companies what they have bought to themselves. In this situation I can say that it is a not a responsible behavior from the community - with all respect - of AirVPN providers, activists as these regions especially Hungary is not a choice of yours. Please put aside if it sounds I blame you or anything etc. 

Not for me - but for others it shall be a necessary step back that these servers shall be up and running, with all respect.

No, it is not mandatory.

Please make sure not to tick "Remember me" in the sign in box. A logout due to inactivity will then be enforced. We will re-check with the web site maintainers if it's the case to lower the timeout.

We have never operated a server in Hungary throughout AirVPN history. You must be confusing AirVPN with some other service. Please note that the area is well covered as we have servers in Serbia, Romania, Austria and Czech Republic.

I checked and it was set by Remember Me - this is why it was left signed in. 


Please read the following comments - I will create something else because I have been under state surveillance. This will be important later, as beside that I had technical background some settings are hard to figure out and find the right solution. This work - under this is for later usage, if it is necessary I will put them into an another topic. I create this for later usage, as I can know/test that how state surveillance work so I can test what's working and what's not. These tutorial for later, as I want to create Youtube/Video Tutorials, PDF or HTML pages with screenshots for different operation systems. There are offers, suggestions, hints what may be acceptable consideration but obviously there will "dumb" or question which has obvious answers but due to technical complexity I do need more further information. 

I work on Linux Mint, Asus router with connecting to my ISP (Hungarian Telekom) router. Here, I set that only with cables you can set or modify router's settings this prevents everything and seemingly working. Most of Meta services can be tapped down even on VPN - as the username/end-point is under surveillance so if you use insta, facebook etc. then it is all - even the pages what it gives out as suggestions - can be seen those who got these equipments in the society. These are influencers, opposition politicians ( this is why it is not out because they blackmail each other ), government and news writers. They usually use their personal - so not for government political directives just help each other like web. These software can tap down any telephone, localizations, also messages and in some cases even for Samsung devices microphone can be used remotely without any sign. *I tested the reaction of some who knows this. 
The software can be easy to use - I suppose this because there are elderly or people who are young and they also have these kind of equipments, software and seemingly can handle - it is probably a web interface or similar. 


Later I will write. There will be obviously some questions and not editted, formatted similar text as above.
Currently using ProtonVPN free tier on US server. These are good but the DNS leak is important as the Linux is always setting back. It is registered through anonsurf command application on Linux and from there it is usable without it.

Hello!

Please remember that if the VPN connection takes place from a device that is not compromised, the upstream compromised devices will be unable to understand the traffic content, including the real destinations and sources. Your ISP does not even need to compromise the ISP router, it can just watch your traffic on their upstream equipment (data retention, DPI....). One of the core features of the service is exactly preserving data confidentiality and integrity when such data pass through insecure lines and devices.

Therefore, if the connection is established by the Asus router, it is vital that the router and all the downstream devices connected to it, and their line(s), are not compromised, while it does not matter whether the upstream devices and lines of your ISP are compromised, as that will not affect data confidentiality and integrity up to the VPN servers. Always use end-to-end encryption in addition, in order to prevent our own servers from seeing the payload of your traffic and protect content integrity and confidentiality between the VPN server and the final recipient/source of the packets.
