ANSWERED Debian 9.3.0 install difficulties?

Can't seem to get the eddie-gui deb package to even start install on it.  Is 9.3.0 just too new?  I can install eddie on Ubuntu and Kubuntu,  both 17.10 and LTS versions no problem.

Anyone else try eddie on 9.3.0 yet?  Any specific dependencies that raw Debian might be missing?

Running perfectly on Stretch (9.3) host here.  You can start simple and install using dpkg then any dependency issues can be handled as below.

 

 

Install your XXX.deb file with dpkg -i XXX.deb.   If there are some errors with unresolved dependencies, run apt-get install -f afterwards.

 

Change XXX below to Eddie's name.

Place your Eddie download on Desktop and verify sha256sum before installing.  Then use your terminal

cd Desktop
sudo dpkg -i XXX.deb

If you experience dependency problems?

sudo apt-get install -f

Thankyou,  will try that out!  Very specific,  and helpful.  I didn't use dpkg to install it to start with,  probably should of used that to start.....

Thought I should post back on this.  Dpkg did indeed resolve the issue.  I had installed the wrong curl dependency.  Still think Ubuntu is easier,  but runs under newest Debian no problem.

This should be considered solved as well.  If using raw Debian,  use dpkg to install the deb package.  You may need to read the output and use dpkg again to solve the dependencies,  but it should fully install.

I did a google search and installed most dependencies first,  but that may not be needed.

you can also use gdebi, which resolves dependencies automatically. Or just right-click the icon of the .deb package and select "Open with" > "Software install" (or any similar item).
