Windows 10 cutting AirVPN Connection when going to Sleep?.

Recommended Posts

I have recently rebuilt my PC and upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. In my old Windows 7 install when I left the PC for a longer period I would sign out using the shift user option thereby leaving my running programs etc running. However I cannot find this option in Windows 10 only Sleep or Hibernate. I realise that I can switch them off but that means letting my PC running 24/7 and I think that will reduce the lifespan of its components so would like to use the sleep function when I want it but is there a way to do this without having to manually switch back and forth?.

Hello!

I don't quite understand. Do you mean to say you switched to a different user normally? If so, why not just use the Windows key + L to lock the screen? Modern PCs don't take a great deal of damage of at all from being left running. When idle, they'll simply "run slower" so to speak. Some of the newer Intel CPUs even have modes that allow for very low-power states to be activated. So while there *could* be a reduction in lifespan, I think you'd need to keep that computer for well beyond its shelf life for that to be an issue. Anyhow, isn't it enough just to disconnect Eddie and then reconnect when you start your PC again? Whether it's from sleep, hibernation or whatnot. In the battery section(s) you can even find options to simply turn off the screen, but leave the PC running.

Through contacts, the only thing I've learned is that if you're not there Windows 10 will most likely trigger an update. It will schedule reboots you cannot abort after it's done.

But if that's fine with you, try CTRL-ALT-DEL > Switch user.
