Xbox, other connections not working, and internet half broken when not using VPN

Recommended Posts

I can't pin down exactly when it started happening, probably around a week ago. I can't play multiplayer games on my xbox anymore. I can access my friends list and join parties (though it is slow and doesn't all load correctly), but I can't connect to in-game servers. My girlfriend can't use the internet from her laptop and if my phone connects it doesn't work. This is the case regardless of whether or not I am connected to Air.

As for this laptop I changed my DNS settings to automatic and restored my firewall to default as said in the stickied thread and now I can access some websites (this site, netflix, reddit, facebook, yahoo) but not others (speedtest, google, ESPN, bank, IMDb) unless I am connected through Air.

Network lock is not on, and I even changed the mode to none in the preferences.

Any thoughts? I am a total noob, but have been trying to educate myself on VPNs. I looked through some other threads to see if I could fix it but have run out of ideas now.

I mean network lock has the ability to cut internet to all other connections right? My point being that it does have the power to affect my xbox at least in that regard. I am assuming there are other possibilities as well.

None of this was a problem before I got Air, and it all started happening at the same time. There is no question that the reason I have trouble using the internet without the Air servers is because of Air itself in some aspect. The fact that my xbox and other laptops began having issues connecting at the same time is surely no coincidence.

network lock only affects the device on which Eddie (AirVPN client) is running, preventing that device from making connections to the internet outside the VPN tunnel.  By default it should allow local network traffic.  Either way, it doesn't affect other devices.

if you're having other problems it's coincidental and caused by something else.

Well that is good to know I guess. Any suggestions for the other thing? Only certain domains available while not connected to Air?
