a&ccozzone 0 Posted ... When I first installed Airvpn, it worked fine. In the last few weeks, I haven't been able to connect at all. When it started, the reverse was the case. I couldn't connect to the internet unless I was using Airvpn. I did some troubleshooting, and began using open DNS, and that solved the problem with connecting to the internet. However, that's when the trouble started with Airvpn. It no longer worked... I've gone through the forums here trying to find a solution, but nothing sticks. I've rolled back the TAP driver. One thing that creates a temporary fix is resetting the DHCP. But I have to do that every time I try to use Airvpn, so it's hardly ideal. Here the logs from my most recent attempt. I was trying to connect to a US server; after failing, the client automatically tried to switch me to a Canadian server.I know next to absolutely nothing about this, so for any tips, I appreciate your patience and breaking it down step by step. What I've tried above I was able to do because of clear instructions I've found. Thanks I 2016.07.14 11:56:35 - AirVPN client version: 2.10.3 / x64, System: Windows, Name: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 / x64. 2016.07.14 11:56:35 - Reading options from C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local\AirVPN\AirVPN.xml. 2016.07.14 11:56:36 - go558a83nk 364 Posted ... I've never seen those domain names *_exit.airservers.org. are those correct? Also, having to reset DHCP each time indicates the OP isn't shutting down the app properly. improper shutdown also is the reason for DNS problems. disconnect first, then exit the app and DHCP and DNS will be returned to what they were. OpenSourcerer 1442 Posted ... I've never seen those domain names *_exit.airservers.org. are those correct? Entry and exit IPs are not the same with AirVPN. While nslookup sabik.airservers.org returns the entry, sabik_exit.airservers.org returns the exit. You test routes by routing packets to the exit IP of your connection and see if you get "something" back. Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. I don't know how to check if another program is interfering. I checked my windows firewall and antivirus, and don't see Airvpn listed as a program to block (and as I said, it initially worked fine until a few weeks ago). Is there more to look for, and if so, how...? When I tried this: "If the problem still persists, make sure that DHCP is enabled on card "Local Area Connection". Please open a command prompt with administrator privileges and issue the following command:netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" source=dhcp This was the response: "Failed to configure the DHCP service. The intervace may be disconnected. The system cannot find the file specified." When I did it for dnsserver (not address), it just opened a new command prompt line. Also, I don't know how to do these things: - the Air client can elevate to administrator privileges - OpenVPN can elevate to administrator privileges - the DHCP *client* service is running Thank you Quote Share this post Link to post
a&ccozzone 0 Posted ... Sorry, just checked my Windows firewall again. Now openvpn is blocked (appears twice), which wasn't the case before. Openvpn appears 4 times in Inbound Rules--first is blocked, then open, open, and blocked. Openvpn doesn't appear in Outbound Rules. And... If I'm supposed to change something with that, I'm not sure how. Quote Share this post Link to post
LZ1 673 Posted ... Hello !Thank you for being so polite and helpful. I'll just link to my own post with what I think you should try. From and including number 5, is what I think you should try. It sounds like you could use a reset of the WF (Windows Firewall). Are you using Network Lock? Quote Hide LZ1's signature Hide all signatures Hi there, are you new to AirVPN? a&ccozzone 0 Posted ... Thank you for your help everyone. Finally got time today to go through and try those steps LZ1. I went through them all, but tried updating the TAP driver last, since I had just changed it back to 9.9 when the trouble started. After upgrading to the new one, it seems to be ok. If anything changes, I'll post again. I really appreciate the help and the courtesy (and patience) you all showed with someone like me who isn't tech savvy. Cheers. Quote Share this post Link to post
LZ1 673 Posted ... I'm glad it worked out for you. Don't hesitate to ask again if something else comes up; you're most welcome to do so. It's what the forums are for - besides showing off that smexy AirVPN logo hehe. You're also welcome to check out my guide, wherein you might find links to things that are interesting. It's fine you're not tech savvy. Then you're savvy at something else. Quote Hide LZ1's signature Hide all signatures Hi there, are you new to AirVPN?
