Staff 9973 Posted ... Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new 1 Gbit/s server located in Switzerland is available: Kitalpha. The AirVPN client will show automatically the new server, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access them through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator"). The server acceptw connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 2018 UDP and TCP. Just like every other Air server, Kitalpha supports OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.Do not hesitate to contact us for any information or issue.Kind regards and dataloveAirVPN Team 5 blknit, go558a83nk, rickjames and 2 others reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post

Thanks Air!Can you maybe ask them to clear out the rDNS record from the entry 91.214.169.68 (airvpn.dserver.softronics.ch)?That's just unecessary meta-data in logs Quote Hide zhang888's signature Hide all signatures Occasional moderator, sometimes BOFH. OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... Any chance we could get another server with same host as Virginis ?Virginis is always heavily used... As long as it doesn't exceed its capacity, everything is good. And I know that Kitalpha is more frequently used than Virginis, still reaching full speeds. The Ping Matrix shows "Arneb" as 3rd server from Switzerland. Don't know why it doesn't show up. Regards Fox Because it seems to have a problem with bandwidth. I could get 1.5 MB/s max out of it as opposed to Kitalpha for example where I max out my line with 5.2 MB/s. randomly 5 Posted ... That's true but it always seems a bit laggy compared to other less utilized servers, and there's like 20 in .nl so surely an extra one with virginis isnt an unreasonable request Quote Share this post Link to post

The thing is, NL servers were and probably still are in higher demand compared to CH. There are a few quite old recommendations to use NL servers for torrenting, it may explain it.You can sum up the CH connections and get to a peak of maybe 400. Now look at the current number of NL connections: 3500 across 33 servers as of now. It may be 105+ a server but you've got this hugeish total number. ogi 1 Posted ... The thing is, NL servers were and probably still are in higher demand compared to CH. I strongly doubt this. The two Swiss servers are most of the time more crowded than an average NL server. As far as I have seen the Swiss servers are the most crowded servers in general. It's a bottleneck. It would definitely make sense to add 2-3 servers there. Two servers is not optimal when tree connections are allowed and you prefer for whatever reason to connect to switzerland. Multiple connections to the same server are possible I know, but once one server is down you quickly get issues... While it is great to have a large server hub in NL, it is important to have some more locations on offer... AIR already responded in another thread, that they are working on it.I really hope they come up soon as there are a lot of users eagerly waiting for it Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... It's a bottleneck. Again, there can't be a bottleneck if I can reach full speeds. Also, you need to halven the bandwidth you read to get the real used bandwidth. If clients use up 500 MBit/s, they actually use 250 MBit/s. Sooooooo, no. It's far from a bottleneck Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. foxmulder 43 Posted ... I think all in all it's not that easy to get some more servers in Switzerland as it is to get new ones in the Netherlands for example. Maybe there aren't that many datacenters that can fulfill AIRs high demands on quality and reliability. Also, bandwidth seems to be a bit more expensive there than for example in the Netherlands or let's say Canada and Sweden. Regards Fox Quote Share this post Link to post
ogi 1 Posted ... Qualitiy and reliability is good in Switzerland. A lot of security concerned business has their cloud storage there but I agree that it could be a bit more expensive. However prices are coming down the last couple of month with more fibre optic possibilities. I just opt for 2 more servers there as it makes sense to have at least 4 servers in countries on offer with above avg. demand. I agree the cheapest option would probably be to have servers in NL, CA, SWE only, but this would tighten the options and harm the service in my opinion. Quote Share this post Link to post
randomly 5 Posted ... the other problem on alot of sites i notice that virginis is flaged as an anonymous proxy so makes things a bit more annoying... Quote Share this post Link to post
