idiot noob, no idea how to start using airvpn

sorry this is so obvious, i'm not bright and i don't have time to figure this out on my own.  i'm using mac os x, i payed for a month, to try it out, and i have no idea how to use the application.  when i open it it's just 2 drop down menus, and i can't click on anything in them.  'about airvpn,' 'preferences,' 'airvpn website,' 'your details and statistics,' 'forwarding ports,' and 'speed test' are all greyed out.  what do i do?  how do i set up and use airvpn?  need really simple instructions for the simplest task because i am simple.

What is your OS X version? When you run the client, do a window with a prompt to enter the administrator password, and then a window to log into the service appear?

I just signed up for a year, and I'm new to VPN as well. I am having the exact same issue as mentioned above. I input the administrator password and nothing else happens. Please help!
