I'm trying to set up Air on my phone. It's asking what type and server address. Where can I find this info?

Hmm, I've got an idea. If I say I could take some time to code an AirVPN android client, what would you say?

gigan3rd,

I think it would be great if you could code an Android client (if so please make it open source/GPL).

You could even make it Air branded with their logo (maybe?)

Would the phone need to be rooted if it's running Android KitKat?

Thanks,

I think it would be great, too.

My goal would then be to code an Android application which is comparable to the Windows client, with features requested by the users. I always wanted to create an app massively influenced by user feedback.

To make this happen I first need to talk to Staff and see what they think about this, if I could make it Air-branded and if it would be allowed to open-source it in some ways. Things to talk about in the future.

But let's just calm down and let the time pass. Use OpenVPN for Android.

Because of the VPNService API implemented in Android 4.0+ you don't have to root your phone to let other apps connect to VPN servers. OpenVPN too uses it.

Hey!

I can use older OpenVPN client? I just have an 2.3.7 gingerbread (rooted).

I found this article, which is the last available client on my phone (2.1.1)?

Or this is not recommended? I mean it could be risks, connection issues, exploit etc.., or maybe can't conncet at all?

Ever wanted to replace that old stinky Android misformed by your manufacturer? Flash a Custom ROM! I really recommend that. Gingerbread is old, it lacks crucial security features and it's full of bugs. Really. And you don't need root for many things because there are many built-in APIs and adapters. And guess what.. most of them were introduced in Android 3.0 Honeycomb! VPN and contacts/calendar sync are two good examples.

Or this is not recommended?

Downgrading is never recommended.. unless you're a hacker/security researcher who wants to find or verify already found bugs.

Hey!

Thanks the answer.

Well, im using years ago cm7, with the latest avaliable version.

I could use cm9 (or cm10 alpha) with 4.0.4, i'll try that, sadly my phone doesn't have much RAM.

Im just using this for callings (sometimes browsing), without gapps ofc, thats why i dont worry

I attempted to follow the instructions to set up Air VPN using OpenVPN for Android. After successfully downloading the config files, however, OpenVPN would not allow me to select them. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue? Also I noticed the instructions are from 2014, and I'm wondering if updates to Android and the OpenVPN app mean that they nolonger work. Has anyone successfully set up Air VPN on Android more recently who can help?

Open a new thread and append your logfiles, please. Anyway, the instructions should be still up-to-date. I only cut my eccentric will to code and Android app because of job/time issues.

Hey there, I am also having problems setting up OpenVPN for Android; posted here 2 days ago:

https://airvpn.org/topic/21714-problemsconcerns-setting-up-openvpn-for-android/

My 3 day trial ends today, was hoping to have this resolved so I could sign up for a year.

I had no problems installing the file I downloaded from here...

Thanks

Not to be rude, but this thread is not yours. Also, the dudes over at your linked topic already gave you a satisfactory answer. AirVPN is doing tests with IPv6 on IPLeak. Since your APN settings are configured to use IPv4 only, you should have no IPv6 connectivity from outside.

From inside your carrier things can be different. Carrier-grade NAT assigns you a private IP inside their network which WebRTC of course twitters to everyone requesting a connection. See if you can disable WebRTC in your browser.
