Requesting help with DNS Leak

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am currently having a problem with a dns leak. When I go to the site dnsleaktest.com, I run the test and can see I have a dns leak.

I have had airvpn for a couple of years now and had solved the problem of the dns leak before.

I followed the instructions from this site http://www.techfleece.com/2012/12/30/how-to-fix-a-dns-leak-when-connected-to-your-vpn/

and everything work fine. My dns was not leaking.

Because of some problem with accessing the internet I asked microsoft to solve the issue (I think some sort of IP conflict) and it must have reset my settings. I now have this leak.

I tried using the above site as before but whenever I change the settings, they are somehow changed back to obtain an IP address automatically. Sometimes when I went to dnsleaktest.com it could see my real ip address, not just my dns leak.

I then went to this article on our own forum, which came up on a google search

https://airvpn.org/topic/9289-dns-leaks-and-how-to-fix-them/

When I checked the status on my LAC (called LAC2 for some reason) and the details, the IPv4 address is 10.4.26.114 which I belive is something to do with airvpn. I thought it should be something more like my isp's.

I'm confused by the situation and would appreciate some help. I'm not an IT professional but have encountered and solved many problems using information on the internet before.

thanks for reading

Hello!

The 10.4.26.114 was the VPN IP address DHCP-assigned to your system tun interface (the virtual network card used by OpenVPN).

To prevent DNS leaks, this is probably the simplest and quickest approach (in the first half of the post):

If in doubt, please do not hesitate to send us your "ipconfig /all" output.

Kind regards

Thank you for the reply.

I will read the post and see what I can do.

I am also in the process of downloading and installing Comodo Firewall as I heard that this can help too
